Chapter 1186 Resolving the Misunderstanding
Hannah took a day off to rest.
Once she felt better, she caught a flight straight back to Sunset Bay.
When she arrived, Oliver had already been brought back by Wyatt himself.
Charlotte had also been returned by Patricia and Martin.
However, Austin and Tina were still missing and hadn't been captured.
As soon as she got back to Sunset Bay, Hannah went to see Oliver.
Oliver was staying in the presidential suite at the Sunset Bay Hotel, with two bodyguards stationed outside the door.
When Hannah arrived at the suite, Oliver was sitting on the couch, staring blankly. He turned his head slightly at the sound of the door, and upon seeing Hannah, his expression remained cold and indifferent.
Hannah had never seen such an expression on his face before, and it pierced her heart.
She sat down next to Oliver and tried to take his hand, but he pulled away. "Don't touch me!"
Hannah's eyes instantly reddened, and she felt a lump in her throat.
Looking at Oliver's face, she said sadly, "In my memory, no matter how much our parents disliked me, you always relied on me, trusted me, and liked me!"
Oliver was infuriated by her words, his emotions flaring up. "You still remember I'm your brother? Then why did you treat our parents like that? Why? Even if they aren't your biological parents, they raised you for so many years. How could you be so cruel?"
Hannah struggled to keep her emotions in check, choking back tears. "I'm your sister. Don't you trust me over others? Don't you know what kind of person I am?"
Oliver wasn't listening, angrily demanding, "Then tell me, did you imprison our parents?"
Hannah nodded without hesitation. "Yes, I did imprison them."
Oliver roared in anger, "If that's the case, what else is there to say? You imprisoned them! As their son, shouldn't I avenge them?"
Hannah's face turned pale, her mouth opening and closing before she finally found her voice. "Oliver, everyone has to pay for their mistakes, and Quentin and Lisa are no exception!
Eight years ago, Austin, for his own selfish reasons, had a psychologist hypnotize me, erasing my memories and placing me with the White Family to live as your sister Hannah.
Quentin and Lisa took me in for money! All these years, my real parents have been searching for me!
Quentin and Lisa hid my identity and extorted money from Austin every year!
I could forgive them for that, as they didn't know better.
But they shouldn't have taken Austin's money and still forced me to work every day, abusing me constantly! Before college, there wasn't a single unscarred spot on my body."
Oliver was shaken, shaking his head repeatedly. "No, no, you're lying, you're deceiving me! Mom only hit you once, thinking you stole money! I even said it was me who took it, not you."
Hannah laughed bitterly. "That's because you were at boarding school! You only came home every two weeks! Lisa knew you defended me and didn't want you to argue with her, so she restrained herself when you were home."
Oliver seemed deeply disturbed, unable to believe his parents could be like that.
"If you don't believe me, ask our neighbors! They heard my screams every day!
Once, a drunk neighbor tried to take advantage of me after evening classes. Lisa not only didn't stand up for me, but publicly called me promiscuous in front of all the neighbors." As she spoke, tears fell.
Recalling her time with the White Family always made her feel so wronged; she wanted to cry.
Oliver's eyes showed a hint of confusion. "Is it true?"
Hannah choked up, "Of course it's true! I was only sixteen! You know how important reputation is for a girl. After that, the neighbors always badmouthed me, and that man became even more brazen.
Oliver, I'm human too! I have feelings!
Didn't you ever wonder why you went to boarding school from middle school, but I always commuted? Our house was so far from school, and I had to go alone every day."
Oliver was taken aback, clearly not expecting her to ask this, and didn't know how to respond. "Why? Wasn't it because our parents liked you and wanted to keep you close, to see you every day?"
Hannah smiled bitterly. "Liked me? Wanted to see me every day? That's the funniest joke I've ever heard."
Oliver was puzzled.
Hannah closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and forced back her tears. "Because she was afraid of losing control over me. With me under her watch, the money I earned from working could go to her immediately! I had to do the house chores, cook, and wash clothes.
If I went to boarding school, they wouldn't have anyone to do those things."
Oliver's mouth dropped open, clearly shocked. "Is that true?"
Hannah cupped his face, her voice hoarse. "Oliver, if I wanted revenge just for being separated from my real parents, why wouldn't I go after you?
Charles and I went to Country D to find you because I genuinely see you as my brother. I want you to succeed, to be able to take care of yourself.
The person who approached you wanted to drive a wedge between us, to use you against me!
She saw your innocence and exploited it! Don't fall for it!"
Oliver stared at Hannah, seeing the sincerity in her expression, and believed her, lowering his head in shame. "I, even if she wanted to drive a wedge between us, you still imprisoned our parents! No matter what, they are my parents. I can't just watch them be imprisoned by you and do nothing."
Hannah calmly replied, "I won't keep them imprisoned. I'll hand them over to the cops and let the law deal with them! They deserve to be punished!
If they don't learn their lesson, they might make even bigger mistakes in the future.
Today, I can forgive them, but what if they offend someone else later?
Not everyone will be as forgiving as I am!"
