Chapter 966 The Gift for Charles

It had been snowing non-stop for days, but that didn't stop Hannah from dragging Stella to the mall.

Stella grumbled, "Exams are around the corner, and you're still dragging me out to shop! Hannah, you're so doomed! You're choosing love over your career."

Hannah just rolled her eyes. "It's freezing out, haven't you noticed Charles is barely dressed? I want to get him a coat."

Stella paused, thinking it over.

"No way, he dresses like that every year! Don't be fooled by his light clothing; he's got custom thermal wear underneath. He's not cold at all."

"He's just being tough!" Hannah said, heading into a high-end men's store.

She had her eye on a down jacket in the window.

It was a deep blue, mid-length trench coat, simple yet classy, with a cinched waist that showed off the figure perfectly.

The salesperson, who hadn't seen a customer in a while, rushed over, "Are you shopping for your boyfriend or a family member? I can help you find something!"

Hannah pointed to the down jacket in the window and mentioned Charles's size, "Can you get that one for me? I want to buy it for my boyfriend."

"You've got great taste! This is a new style this year, and it's selling like hotcakes!" the salesperson said, finding the size Hannah mentioned.

The coat was really long.

When Hannah tried it on, it reached her ankles.

She imagined Charles wearing it, considering her own height, and thought the length was perfect! The quality was top-notch, feeling super comfy.

She twirled in front of Stella and asked, "Stella, what do you think?"

Stella shook her head, touching her chin. "Have you ever seen Charles wear a coat with a hood? I don't think it's his style."

Hannah disagreed, "In this cold, if he forgets a hat, he can just use the hood. It's super convenient."

Stella still shook her head. "Why don't we check out other styles? This one is nice, but I just feel Charles won't like it. Let's find one with a detachable hood."

Hannah, still wearing the coat, wandered around the store. The salesperson showed her many new and popular styles, but none of them clicked.

Sometimes, first impressions are everything.

Once she fell in love at first sight, nothing else seemed to compare.

No matter how she looked, nothing was as satisfying as the first one she saw.

In the end, Hannah chose the one she was wearing. "I'll buy it. If he doesn't like it, I'll break up with him."

Stella laughed, "This is the first time I've heard of breaking up over a piece of clothing!"

Hannah took off the coat and handed it to the salesperson. "Please wrap this up for me."

The salesperson happily prepared the invoice and said, "That will be $3,800."

Hannah was stunned by the price.

Seeing her hesitation, the salesperson explained, "This is a goose down jacket, and each of our styles and sizes is unique, symbolizing one of a kind."

Hannah was silent.

This marketing tactic was clever.

But $3,800 was too steep.

While she hesitated, Stella handed over her card. "I'll cover it for now, and you can pay me back later."

Hannah took the card from the salesperson and handed it back to Stella, then offered her own card.

Hannah said, "How can I use your money to buy a gift for Charles? Don't worry. I've saved up from my part-time jobs over the years. I can handle it."

Even though she had been helping out with household expenses, she had managed to save some money for herself.

Plus, her summer internship at IntelliMerge Technologies paid pretty well, and she had been putting that money aside.

She was usually frugal, but she was willing to splurge on a gift for Charles.

Stella put her card back in her wallet without saying much, but before the salesperson swiped the card, she couldn't help but ask, "Can we return it if it's in its original condition?"

She knew Charles too well.

While $3,800 might be a lot for a regular person, for someone like Charles, it was pretty low-end.

Everything Charles wore was custom-made and pricey, with any single item costing as much as a regular family's five-year living expenses.

The gift Hannah bought might end up being returned.

The salesperson smiled. "Yes, you can!"

After buying the coat, the two were about to head back to school when Charles called.

Charles asked, "Where are you? I'm done with work and coming to find you."

Hannah replied, "Stella and I are done and heading back to school. It's snowing heavily outside, so you shouldn't come; it's dangerous on the road."

Charles seemed to ignore her last words. "Then I'll meet you at school! Wait for me in the dorm! Let's have dinner at your cafeteria tonight; I miss the food at your third cafeteria."

"Alright! We'll be there in about half an hour." Seeing his insistence, Hannah had to agree.

She thought it would take Charles some time to get from his company to D University, but when Hannah and Stella arrived at the dorm, they saw Charles standing under an umbrella, waiting for them in the snow.

He had probably been standing there for a while, as a thin layer of snow had already covered his black umbrella.

He was wearing a trench coat, a black and white striped scarf, black leather gloves, and black leather boots. Standing in the snowy scene, he looked like a leading man straight out of a TV drama, so handsome that Hannah couldn't take her eyes off him.

Hannah gazed at him, mesmerized.

Even Stella, who usually wasn't easily impressed, was lost in girlish fantasies.

Stella teased, "You should be glad he's my relative; otherwise, we would definitely fall out over fighting for Charles. Such a handsome man doesn't belong to me!"

Hannah rolled her eyes at her and quickly walked up to Charles.

Seeing her approach, Charles's eyes lit up.

Hannah had been sharing an umbrella with Stella, but when she got closer, Charles handed her his umbrella, then took off his gloves and held her hands, blowing warm air on them to warm her up.

Charles asked, "How are you? Are you cold?"

Hannah felt warm inside, a stark contrast to the icy weather.

Hannah said, "I just went shopping with Stella to pick out a coat for you. I noticed you dress lightly every day and was worried you'd get cold, so I wanted to buy you a thicker coat. I know the clothes you usually wear are very nice, and the one I bought might not match your style, but in winter, you can't just focus on appearance. You need to stay warm..."

Before she could finish, Charles took the shopping bag from her hands.
