Chapter 1075 History Repeated Itself

Hannah was riding a cable car for the first time. She never imagined that riding a cable car could be so terrifying. As the cable car gradually ascended to the halfway point, she clutched the door in fear, her body trembling.

Charles noticed but said nothing, standing up.

Hannah immediately closed her eyes in fright and screamed, "Don't stand up! It's shaking even more! Are we going to fall? If we fall, will there be nothing left of us?"

Charles was amused by her cute reaction and slowed his movements, sitting down beside her.

Hannah was very panicked. She didn't dare to look outside, only feeling that the cable car was tilting even more towards her.

She said, "If I had known the cable car was this scary, I wouldn't have taken it. Climbing up would have been so much better! I could exercise and enjoy the scenery along the way."

Charles said helplessly, "You wouldn't say that if you actually had to climb."

The memory of climbing to the top in the middle of the night was deeply ingrained in him. No one could understand his mix of anticipation and despair at that time.

If he hadn't thought of Hannah waiting for him at the top, he wouldn't have made it.

Hannah didn't understand what he meant but she couldn't bring herself to think about it. She silently prayed, hoping to reach the top soon and be free from this ordeal.

At that moment, a pair of large hands cupped her head, gently pulling her over and pressing her against a warm shoulder.

Hannah was stunned. She opened one eye first to make sure she wasn't hallucinating from fear, then opened the other eye.

Charles let her head rest on his shoulder, his strong hand holding her close. "Don't worry, the cable car has undergone repeated safety checks and regular maintenance. It's very safe and won't fall."

He wouldn't say things like, "If we fall, we'll fall together," or "If we die, we'll die together."

He thought those words were empty and only used by smooth talkers to coax their girlfriends, with no real substance.

Hannah looked at him and blinked. "Really, no accidents?"

Charles nodded. "Trust me, the chances of a cable car accident are very, very small. Plus, this resort was just acquired by IntelliMerge Technologies Company. All the facilities have been thoroughly inspected, so there won't be any problems."

This place held extraordinary significance for him. So after he and Hannah returned last time, he spent a fortune to acquire it.

He originally had no interest in tourist resorts and had never invested in the industry. He only acquired Crystal Blue Lake to preserve the beautiful memories with Hannah.

Hannah tilted her head. "IntelliMerge Technologies Company? Your company?"

She seemed to remember Stella mentioning that Charles was the president of IntelliMerge Technologies Company.

But Stella had only mentioned it once in passing, so she wasn't very clear on the details and wasn't sure if she remembered the name correctly.

Charles smiled and couldn't help but tap her nose. "Yes, it's my company! We came here before, and although it's not where we fell in love, it holds significant meaning for us. I wanted to preserve that beautiful memory, so I acquired it. After the acquisition, I had all the facilities checked to ensure everything was perfect and safe."

Hearing this, Hannah finally felt more at ease. The two of them started chatting about this topic.

Distracted, Hannah completely forgot her fear, and before she knew it, the cable car had reached the top.

Hannah was immediately stunned by the beautiful scenery. "So beautiful! Isn't it May? How is there still snow on the mountaintop?"

She didn't expect to see no one at the bottom but so many people at the top. And they had all come so early.

Charles explained, "The temperature at the top is much lower than at the bottom, especially at night, so it occasionally snows."

Actually, it was artificial snow. He had it specially prepared.

Last time, Hannah had come here alone because of Violet. He spent the first snow of last year here with Hannah. That time, they were very happy.

To help Hannah remember, he had spent a fortune on artificial snow.

Originally, he had planned to have it snow after they both reached the top. But that would have been too conspicuous, so he chose to have it snow beforehand.

Unexpectedly, the snow at night spread quickly, and the number of tourists surged the next day. Now the mountaintop was crowded.

In winter, seeing snow was normal, and after a while, it lost its novelty. But it was May. Snow in May felt completely different.

Everyone found it fascinating and wanted to witness this phenomenon, so more people came.

He could have closed the area temporarily. But the last two times he and Hannah came, there were many people.

Maybe the crowd would help her remember more. So he dismissed the idea of temporarily closing the area to tourists.

Hannah picked up a handful of snow from the lawn. Whether it was because she was in a good mood or because Charles was by her side, she found the snow beautiful.

At that moment, Stella's excited voice came. "Charles, Hannah, over here! We're over here!"

Hannah looked over and saw Stella and Randy standing by a barbecue grill, waving frantically.

Seeing Hannah look over, Stella excitedly said, "Hannah, come quickly! We came early to get a spot. This is the best viewing point."

Charles said to Hannah, "Let me show you my skills! I'm great at barbecuing!"

Hannah's eyes widened in surprise. "Really?"

Charles nodded vigorously, ruffling her hair before leading her to the spot Stella had secured. It was indeed a prime viewing spot.

Stella excitedly placed skewers on the grill. "Good thing we came early and got a good spot. Otherwise, we wouldn't even have a place to sit."

Charles rolled his eyes at her. "Are you sure you got the spot?"

It was clearly reserved by him. Stella was taking credit for his work.

Stella stuck her tongue out at Charles. "Yes, it was me."

Charles shook his head indulgently. "Alright, alright, it's you. All your credit."

As he spoke, Charles placed two beef skewers on the grill. These were Hannah's favorite.

Hannah wanted to help but found she couldn't. She couldn't help but ask, "Is there anything I can do? Just eating and doing nothing makes me feel bad."

Charles handed her a fan. "Then fan the fire! It's a bit low."

Hannah glanced at the people around her and then imitated them, fanning the grill. But she ended up fanning the ashes into her eyes.

Stella ran over, took the fan from her, and pretended to be worried. "Hannah, did you get ash in your eyes? Charles, take Hannah to wash up."

Last year, when they first came, the same thing had happened. It was perfect to recreate past events, helping Hannah remember.
