Chapter 27 Baby's Beating, Ex-Husband's Fury
Patricia retaliated without backing down, "Randy is your own great-grandson. Can't a grandson miss his great-grandfather and come to see him? Or are you feeling guilty? Afraid the child might see something?"
Gavin's expression turned hideous. "What nonsense are you filling the child's head with? I..."
Before he could finish speaking, Randy suddenly picked up a nearby vase and threw it at Gavin. His cute little face turned bright red, resembling an angry beast. "You bad guy! You're not allowed to bully my mommy. If you dare to bully my mommy again, I'll kill you..."
Caught off guard, Gavin took the vase straight to his chest. The vase fell to the ground and shattered with a loud "bang." Gavin's face changed, his heart feeling as though it was bleeding.
The pain of being hit was nothing compared to the devastation of his heart. After all, the vase was an antique from the Renaissance period that he had spent a hundred million dollars on, and there was only one of its kind. And now, it had been shattered like that.
Rage surged through him, and Gavin raised his hand, about to slap Randy. Patricia immediately shielded Randy behind her, raising her chin high, and her crimson eyes emitted a shocking coldness. "Dare you touch him?"
Her gaze was fierce, her aura intense, exuding a murderous intent. Gavin had never seen her like this before, and an inexplicable fear rose within him. His hand, raised high in the air, froze for a long time before it finally dropped.
Debbie walked over, sneering, "Five years have passed, and Patricia has truly changed. She dares to defy even her father. Truly shameless."
Patricia didn't catch the underlying meaning in Debbie's words and was about to retort. Suddenly, Randy rushed out from behind Patricia and viciously bit down on Debbie's arm.
"Ah..." Debbie felt as though her flesh was about to be bitten off. The pain made her scream, and instinctively, she kicked Randy away.
The incident happened too quickly, and Patricia couldn't stop it in time. By the time she reacted, Randy's tiny body had already been kicked and sent flying.
"You little bastard! How dare you bite me! You..." Debbie held her painful arm and cursed incessantly. Inadvertently, she glanced at the figure at the entrance and was so shocked that she almost fainted.
Martin stood against the backlighting. This time, even though Patricia couldn't see his expression, she could clearly feel the coldness emanating from him.
The air instantly froze. Time seemed to stand still. Randy clutched his stomach and curled up on the ground.
"Randy..." Patricia was the first to react, tears streaming down her face as she hurriedly ran over and lifted him from the ground. "Randy, are you okay? Does it hurt a lot?"
Randy's face turned pale from the pain, unable to utter a word.
Desperate, Patricia's tears welled up as she tried to lift him, but her arms were weak from shaking so much. Just then, Martin strode over, picked up Randy, and gently placed him on the sofa. He carefully rolled up Randy's clothes, revealing a large bruise on his belly.
Martin's narrowed eyes exuded danger, his entire being seemingly enveloped in the icy winds of a frigid land.
"Daddy, it hurts so much!" Randy looked at Martin with a pitiful gaze, his teary eyes resembling a bullied puppy.
Patricia's heart ached, without hesitation, she raised her hand and slapped Debbie across the face. "You're so cruel! Randy is just a child. How could you lay a hand on him like this?"
Debbie couldn't believe Patricia had hit her again, this time in front of their parents. She covered her pain-ridden face and glared fiercely at Patricia; her eyes filled with a murderous intent.
Though filled with hatred towards Patricia, Debbie restrained herself from acting out in front of Martin. She took small steps towards him, clutching her skirt, trembling lips trying to explain.
"Martin, it's not what you think. It was a misunderstanding... I... I was in so much pain, my mind went blank, so, uh, I just instinctively kicked. If I knew it was Randy, I definitely wouldn't have done that."
Martin's lips curved, a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "So, you treat Randy like this on a regular basis."
Debbie panicked, squatting down and holding his hand, tears welling in her eyes. "Martin, you know how I treat Randy on a regular basis. You can't deny how good I've been to him just because of my mistake today!"
Her touch made Martin feel disgusted, he mercilessly shook off her hand. "From now on, you are forbidden to appear in Randy's presence!" Martin's deep voice turned ominously dark.
This was undoubtedly like a death sentence for Debbie. She felt her vision darken, despair filling her heart. Gavin noticed something was wrong and rushed over, delivering two slaps to Debbie. Debbie was left dazed, her ears ringing and tears streaming down her face.
Watching her cry, Gavin's heart twisted, yet he couldn't help but raise his voice and reprimand, "You bastard! How many times have I told you? No matter what happens, you have to take care of Randy.”
“He is your nephew by marriage and will be your son in the future. You must treat him better than your own biological son. And what do you do? You ignore my words completely."
Saying this, he looked towards Martin. Pretending to have a righteous and solemn appearance, "Martin, Debbie's behavior is my fault as her teacher. If you want to blame someone, blame me.”
“She is still young, give her another chance. I guarantee that she will never dare to bully Randy again. If she bullies Randy again, I will definitely kick her out of the house."
Martin remained silent with a sullen face, gently stroking Randy's abdomen in pain, hoping to alleviate his discomfort. At that moment, Manda brought out the medical kit too.
"Yes, Martin, I have spoiled our daughter since she was young. Please forgive her this time. She acted impulsively, but she genuinely loves Randy. When you are busy, she is the one who sits with Randy in the hospital. Didn't he always prefer her as his aunt before Patricia came back?"
As she spoke, she glanced meaningfully at Patricia. Patricia was not foolish and naturally understood the implications of her words. She was implying to Martin that Randy's current treatment of Debbie was solely due to her instigations behind the scenes.
Ha! How consistently cunning and hypocritical. Martin still did not speak, but accepted the medicine from her hands and carefully applied it to Randy's wounds. As soon as the medicine made contact, Randy immediately gasped in pain, his little face wrinkling.
"It hurts, hurts, hurts... Daddy, it hurts so much..." Martin immediately lightened his touch, but Randy continued to cry out in pain.
A single glance from Martin revealed his son's hidden agenda. He helplessly glared at him and handed the medicine to Patricia. Patricia took the medicine, gently applying it to Randy's injured area.
Randy acted spoiled, saying, "Mommy, I want you to blow on my tummy..."
Listening obediently, Patricia lowered her head and blew on his little stomach. Randy immediately stopped crying and obediently lay there, allowing Patricia to blow and apply the medicine. He had a smile on his face, looking sweet.
Debbie clenched her fists, filled with both hatred and envy. She resented how Patricia effortlessly took away what was once hers after her return. She was jealous of Randy's unquestioning reliance and fondness towards Patricia.
If it weren't for Randy strongly opposing and preventing it, she wouldn't have been engaged to Martin for so long without getting married. Seeing that Martin didn't say anything further, Gavin laughed.
"It's lunchtime, let's eat first! As for Debbie, I will definitely educate her, and the same thing will never happen again."
The atmosphere during the meal became suppressed and gloomy due to this incident. Even though Gavin tried his best to liven up the mood, Martin remained silent throughout.
