Chapter 770 Imminent Conflict

Charles raised his younger siblings. Just from the look on Violet's face, he could tell something was definitely off.

He was about to call for help, but it was too late. A sound and a strong smell, mixed with milk, filled the hospital room, especially around Charles.

A strong odor came from Violet's blanket, making Charles hold his breath.

Charles said, "She's pooped, Violet pooped!" Everyone laughed at his disgusted face.

The nanny rushed in, cleaned her hands, and changed Violet's diaper.

When Violet couldn't see Charles, she started crying again.

Patricia quickly pulled Charles over, and Violet smiled again.

Patricia teased Carter, "We should take her home! Look, Violet only has eyes for Charles!"

Carter, jealous, said, "No! My daughter stays with me."

Patricia thought, 'Is this how all men act with their daughters and wives?'

Because of Carter's status in Sunset Bay, many people brought gifts after Lassie gave birth, but they were kept outside. Patricia decided to leave with Martin, Charles, and Fannie.

Charles looked back at Violet, reluctant to leave.

Just then, Lassie's father, Logan Bennett, his wife, Lily Parker, and their daughter, Harper Bennett, came in with a fruit basket and baby clothes.

The warm atmosphere turned tense.

Harper ignored Lassie and ran to Carter, sweetly saying, "Carter!"

Both Carter and Patricia frowned.

Patricia sensed Harper's feelings for Carter, even though it was their first meeting. Despite knowing that Carter was her brother-in-law, Harper was too chummy with her address to him.

Carter was also annoyed. He said, "You should call me 'brother-in-law'."

Harper pouted, "Lassie said 'brother-in-law' sounds too formal. Calling you Carter is more affectionate, like a family."

Her words annoyed Carter. He looked at Lassie and asked, "Did she really say that?"

Harper nodded, "Of course! Ask mom and dad. They were there!"

Carter's joy of being a new father turned to anger. Lassie, already pale, looked even paler and teared up.

Patricia couldn't hold back any longer, "Whether Lassie said that or not, as a sister-in-law, you should know your place! Keep proper boundaries. Otherwise, people might think you have inappropriate intentions towards your brother-in-law. Even if Lassie wants you to call him Carter, you shouldn't overstep."

Harper's face soured at Patricia's words, and Lassie's pale face turned slightly pink.

Lily, unfamiliar with Patricia, snapped, "Who are you to meddle in the Moore family's business?"

Patricia shot back, "And who are you? What right do you have to interfere? If I'm not mistaken, only Carter, Lassie, and their child are true members of the Moore family. You're just Lassie's family!"

Lily was left speechless and embarrassed, ready to lash out at Patricia. But Martin stepped in, pulling Patricia away and standing between them with a stern look. Lily, intimidated by his presence, backed down.

"She's being disrespectful! I just wanted to teach her a lesson!" Lily protested, recognizing Martin as Carter's friend and the CEO of the Langley Group.

Martin raised eyebrows, "Did she say anything wrong? Shouldn't you know your place? Instead of lecturing my wife, focus on educating your daughter."

Lily, deeply embarrassed, fell silent. Logan, seeing Lily scolded by Martin, felt uneasy but didn't dare argue. The Moore and Langley families were not to be trifled with, especially after the SunStar Group incident.

Carter glanced at the things they brought, "If there's nothing else, you can leave. Lassie needs rest."

Harper, reluctant to leave, tried to hold Violet. But as soon as she touched her, Violet started crying loudly.

Seeing Violet's face clearly for the first time, Harper frowned. "Why is this child so ugly? Her face is all wrinkled, like a little old lady!"

Carter was furious. Harper, oblivious, continued, "Lassie, did you get plastic surgery? Is that why the child is so ugly? She doesn't look anything like you!"

Carter was stunned.

Patricia couldn't help but laugh. She pondered, 'Did she say Violet ugly? Not at all. With big eyes, a small mouth, and soft pink skin, Violet was adorable. Clearly, Harper was the one who was ugly.'
