Chapter 1097 Hannah Got into a Car Accident

In a moment, Charles finally reacted. He crouched down, trembling as he picked up the unconscious Hannah lying in a pool of blood. As soon as he touched her body, he felt a warm sensation in his palm.

He opened his hand to see it covered in blood. Hannah had hit the back of her head on a rock, leaving a large gash from which blood was gushing out, quickly soaking both of their clothes.

Charles wanted to call her name, to wake her up. But he found that his throat felt like it was stuffed with paper; he couldn't make a single coherent sound.

He reached out a trembling hand, gently patting Hannah's face. His thin lips moved, but all he could manage was a mournful cry.

This must be what it felt like to be so sad and scared that one couldn't cry or speak, only wail.

Martin arrived shortly after. He had heard a commotion downstairs and, feeling uneasy, had followed. When he saw what was happening, he immediately turned back, ran home, and drove the largest vehicle from the garage.

When he returned to the accident scene, Charles was still sitting on the ground, holding Hannah tightly, completely unable to think.

Martin opened the car door, bent down, and tried to lift Hannah into the car.

But Charles, as if he had lost his soul, thought someone was trying to take Hannah from him and held her tightly, refusing to let go.

It wasn't until Martin spoke. "Hannah is seriously injured and needs to get to the hospital immediately. The nearest ambulance will take thirty minutes to get here; we can get there faster by car."

Martin's voice brought Charles back to his senses. He finally reacted, picked Hannah up from the ground, and got into the back seat of the car.

Quentin, holding Lisa, wanted to follow them into the car. But Martin said, "Hannah needs to lie flat, and there's no room for you in the car! Have the driver take you to the hospital!"

Without waiting for their response, Martin had already driven off.

Lisa had never seen Martin so cold towards her. In the past, the Langley family had always been polite and respectful to them, even more so after Hannah disappeared at the engagement party.

Over time, they had gotten used to it. But today was different.

Lisa's heart sank. "It's over, it's all over. Hannah got into this accident because of us. If anything happens to her, Charles will definitely blame us! He won't give us any more money, and he might even take back everything he's given us. I've worked so hard to get here; I don't want to go back to a hard life. I want to live in a big house and drive a luxury car!"

Quentin almost cried too. He felt sorry for Hannah's suffering and for the wealth he had finally obtained.

But he was a man who had survived near-death experiences years ago, and his mental resilience was much stronger than Lisa's. Unlike Lisa, who was at a loss, he reacted quickly.

"Alright, stop crying. Let's follow them. No matter what, we have to ask the doctors to save Hannah."

Lisa was jolted awake by his words and nodded vigorously.

The two of them returned to Sunshine Manor, explained the situation to the driver, and were immediately driven to the hospital.

Outside the emergency room, Charles stood there covered in blood, his mind blank, staring blankly at the closed emergency room door, his face pale.

Martin knew he was in shock and didn't know how to react. Martin felt a deep ache in his heart and patted Charles on the shoulder, comforting him, "If you're feeling bad, just cry. Crying and letting it out will make you feel a bit better."

Charles ignored him, maintaining the same posture and expression as he stared at the emergency room door.

Not long after, Quentin, Lisa, and Patricia arrived one after another.

Lisa was so scared she could barely speak. Quentin stammered, wanting to ask about Hannah's condition but feeling too guilty and afraid of Charles's blame to speak.

Only Patricia, seeing the blood on Charles, worriedly asked Martin, "How is she? What did the doctors say?"

She had received a call from Martin earlier, only knowing that Hannah had been in a car accident and was now in the emergency room. Martin hadn't given any details about Hannah's condition.

From Martin's tone, Patricia felt the situation might be serious. When Patricia asked, Quentin and Lisa also looked at Martin expectantly, waiting for his answer.

Martin shook his head gravely. "It's not looking good. She's lost a lot of blood and hit her head on a rock. But we'll have to wait for the doctors to come out to know more."

Hearing his answer, Lisa felt the world spinning, as if the sky was falling. This time, they were truly finished. If Hannah died, their good life would be over too.

She had been poor all her life and had only just started to enjoy some wealth. Why was God so cruel to her?

Quentin was also panicking. At this moment, he truly felt Hannah's life slipping away. Memories of the past flooded his mind, and a sense of guilt rose in his heart.

Since Austin had brought Hannah to them, she hadn't had a single good day. Lisa would hit and scold her whether she was happy or not.

Although Austin had given them a lot of money to take good care of Hannah, Lisa only put on a show in front of Austin. In private, she would still hit and scold Hannah.

Lisa's mistreatment of Hannah wasn't really because she favored Oliver; it was because Hannah wasn't their biological daughter, and Lisa had no feelings for her.

And he claimed to like Hannah and told her to endure Lisa's bad temper. But he was a coward too. He thought that since Lisa had suffered with him all her life, if hitting and scolding Hannah made her feel better, then Hannah should bear it for him.

Looking back now, he realized he was a real jerk. As a man, he had no sense of responsibility. He couldn't provide a good life for his wife, nor could he protect his children.

Compared to their breakdown, Patricia was much calmer. "We live on a hillside; how could there be a car? Did you find the driver?"

This matter was probably not that simple. But she didn't dare say it out loud, fearing it would upset Charles.

Public buses and taxis couldn't get there, let alone passing vehicles. Their place was very safe! How could a car suddenly appear, hit Hannah, and then flee?

This car accident was definitely not an accident but premeditated. So they had to find the culprit and seek justice for Hannah.
