Chapter 17 Patricia Has Charles Collect Evidence Against The Mistress
After hearing her plan, Charles gave her a thumbs-up. "Mommy, you're so smart. I'll do it right away!"
With those words, he returned to his study, powered up his laptop, and swiftly reposted the post that Martin had taken down on the hospital forum. Charles went the extra mile to ensure this matter went viral.
In no time, it transformed from an internal hospital issue to a widespread internet discussion. Charles even deliberately steered the attention, provoking everyone to attack Patricia.
A variety of nasty comments surfaced. Some branded her as shameless, others questioned her suitability as a doctor. To make matters worse, some began insulting Patricia's parents.
The more intense the online criticism grew, the more satisfied Patricia felt. She instructed Charles to monitor the online reactions while she proceeded to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Martin, who was with Randy, received a call from Alan.
"Boss, the post I took down has reappeared."
Martin's handsome face darkened instantly. "What happened?"
"It's C."
"C? Are you sure?"
Alan reassured him, "I had someone trace it back across the internet and confirmed that the computer being used belongs to the hacker. It's the same person who breached our company's system."
Martin's expression turned icy. Sinister determination filled his eyes, and his face paled slightly. "Have you managed to trace his IP address?"
"No, he's cunning, deliberately concealing his address. But Luke is working on it, attempting to crack it."
Luke was the Langley Group's most skilled programmer. Previously, he had located C at the airport.
Martin asked again, "Can the post be taken down?"
Alan hesitated for a moment, his expression troubled. "We can't take it down. He not only posted it but also spread the incident all over the internet."
Martin's lips formed a tight line, and a chilling resentment flickered in his eyes, creating a heavy atmosphere in the hospital room. "Hurry up, find him for me as soon as possible."
After ending the call, Martin sank into deep thought. The incident was undeniably directed at Patricia. What grudge did 'C' hold against Patricia? Why would he harm her? Martin couldn't fathom it. Even after dinner, the post still occupied the top spot on the trending list.
After some time, someone claiming to be a friend of Dr. Watson revealed the truth behind the incident. With Charles and the assistance of paid posters, public opinion was manipulated to favor Patricia.
Comments started pouring in. "So, the actual truth is like this? Isn't Dr. Watson being set up?"
"What's Debbie's agenda here? She knows Dr. Watson is innocent, yet she doesn't step forward to clarify things. Dr. Watson has been under criticism all day!"
"I also suspect some hidden motives. Perhaps it's because Dr. Watson is a rank above her, and she feels envious, so she devised this plan to frame her?"
"I think your speculation might be correct. Dr. Watson is younger, more attractive, and even a doctor. Debbie must be feeling jealous."
"I heard that when Dr. Watson was only 22 years old, she successfully performed a complex heart bypass surgery on a patient with numerous underlying conditions. Many doctors were hesitant due to the patient's fragile health, but she took it on single-handedly."
The comments continued, "In the end, the surgery was a success, and the patient made a remarkable recovery. It was this one procedure that made her renowned."
"Wow, is Dr. Watson really that incredible?"
"I believe it's true."
Observing Charles proudly boasting, Patricia couldn't help but blush. "Alright, that's enough. If you keep bragging, I'll feel embarrassed."
Charles grinned and said, "I'm not bragging. I'm stating the facts. My mommy is truly amazing."
Patricia chuckled at his playful tone. Fannie, wide-eyed and concerned, stared at the computer without blinking and asked, "Mommy, will Debbie really post as you think she will?"
Patricia replied with unwavering certainty, "Yes, I'm absolutely certain she will."
Debbie, a consistently hypocritical person, rarely misses an opportunity to undermine Patricia, so she undoubtedly wouldn't let this chance slip away. If she notices a shift in public opinion, she will undoubtedly take action.
Fannie's lovely face twisted with anger as she huffed, "How can this woman be so despicable? She's truly evil."
Patricia instructed Charles, "Make sure this goes viral for one whole night. Remember, just one night, and then take it down."
"Sure thing!" Charles playfully gestured towards Patricia.
Sensing that it was getting late, Patricia was concerned that Randy might worry about her. She entrusted this matter to Charles and left, carrying a thermos lunchbox.
The impact of the viral trend quickly became apparent. Upon entering the hospital, people either avoided Debbie or whispered about her behind her back. The dean's phone kept ringing incessantly.
Patricia acted as if nothing had occurred, smiling brightly as she brought dinner to Randy. While he ate, Martin pulled her aside to the balcony and inquired, "Let me ask you, have you had any prior conflicts with someone?"
Patricia smirked and said, "Debbie, she's my only enemy."
Martin's thick eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Do you know 'C'?"
"What's 'C'?" Patricia said, puzzled.
Her reaction inadvertently answered Martin's question. "The post I blocked this afternoon not only reappeared but also deliberately made its way to the trending list. I suspect someone is deliberately targeting you. Be cautious. I'm afraid this person still has tricks up their sleeve."
Patricia was momentarily taken aback, then burst into laughter. She laughed so hard, clutching her stomach, that tears welled up in her eyes.
"Martin, you're hilarious. Don't worry, this person is definitely not my enemy. They won't be able to harm me. Instead of spending time worrying about me, you should go see an ophthalmologist or work on improving your taste."
Martin's eyes narrowed dangerously, and his handsome face darkened as he said, "What do you mean?"
"You're actually interested in a woman like Debbie, couldn't you use a visit to the ophthalmologist?" Patricia said, then turned back to the hospital room, leaving the enraged Martin behind as she laughed about his apparent concern for her.
Martin, seething with frustration, walked away, disappearing from view and from Patricia's thoughts.
...
Back at the Watson family home, Debbie watched as public opinion increasingly shifted in Patricia's favor, while she herself faced mounting criticism. Her face twisted with anger, and she was so infuriated that she almost slammed her phone down. Manda's complexion transitioned from pale to red.
"Debbie, why is public opinion turning more and more in favor of that girl? If this continues, not only will she clear her name, but it might also damage your reputation."
Debbie's forehead veins pulsed, her chest heaving dramatically from anger. After a moment, she suddenly smiled, a sinister and calculating grin that could only spell impending ruthlessness.
"You think you can change the tide? Over my dead body!"
Gritting her teeth, Debbie opened 'X' and logged into her verified official account to post a statement.
"I, Debbie, solemnly swear on my character that the video content is true, and it was not intended to defame or slander Dr. Watson. I have no idea how the video leaked, and if it has caused any trouble in Dr. Watson's life, I am deeply sorry."
Her statement continued, "Everything is already in the past. I hope this matter can come to an end, and everyone can stop paying attention, granting us some peace."
With these words, she projected a strong sense of righteousness. By assuring everyone that the video was authentic and by showing magnanimity by putting aside past grievances, she attempted to present herself as the bigger person.
