Chapter 300 Martin's Critical Injury, Life Hanging by a Thread
The heavy smell of blood filled the cabin.
Hearing that Martin was hurt, Luke dropped everything and ran over.
"Don't come here,. kKeep Hunter busy," Martin barked, worried Luke would abandon their mission.
Luke frowned,. "Don't worry,. tThe Miller Group has been dealing with a hacker who is far more skilled than me for a while now. They're tied up enough as it is."
"Who is it?" Martin asked, wondering who was helping them, knowing there weren't many who could outdo Luke.
Seeing Martin injured yet still concerned about the mission, Patricia urgedsaid, "You're hurt; we need to get you to a hospital."
She would risk being captured by Hunter again rather than letendanger Martin be in danger.
Carter rushed to check on Martin and gasped in shock at the sight of his wound.
"You've been shot?"
A deep, bloody hole was visible three inches above Martin's left shoulder blade, the surrounding skin charred by the bullet's heat.
Patricia covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face. She had thought Hunter missed, but Martin had been hit and hadn't said a word, just got her on the plane.
"'How could you be so foolish?"?' she thought, distressed by his selflessness.
Ignoring his wound, Martin gritted his teeth,. "Start the plane!"."
Carter hesitated,. "But the bullet needs to come out."
Sweat beaded on Martin's brow as he insisted,. "Patricia is a doctor, right? Get moving before Hunter catches up."
But Patricia shook her head,. "No, we have to go back. I'm a doctor, but I'm not a surgeon. I've never extracted a bullet before, and this isn't the place for it."
Carter agreed,. "We should land. We can figure out how to save Patricia later. There's always a way."
Martin disagreed,. "Hunter is cautious. We were lucky to get her out this time. If we don't leave now, it'll only get harder."
He looked at Patricia with a weak smile,. "I trust you."
Her heart ached with the weight of his trust, but she doubted herself.
Martin patted her hand and ordered Carter,. "Go, or my injury is for nothing."
Carter, seeingSeeing Martin's resolve, Carter reluctantly gave the order to take off.
As Hunter finally shook off the diobstrauctions and arrived, he only sawto see the plane speeding down the runway, then lifting into the sky, becoming a speck in the distance.
In despair, Hunter He fired his gun into the vanishing point, his screams tearing through the night.
On the plane, Martin relaxed as they took off, his strength fading. Patricia caught him before he slumped into his seat.
"You can't die, Martin. What will I do without you?" she cried as he lay in her arms.
"I'm just tired," Martin whispered, his energy slipping away. "I just need to sleep."
"No, you can't sleep," Patricia beggedsaid, knowing too well that some never wake up.
She prayed silently, checking his heartbeat, pulse, and temperature.
He was alive.
Relief washed over her, and Carter and Luke'sthe other two's eyes also reddened.
Luke fetched a blanket, and Carter got the first aid kit.
"We need to get the bullet out," Patricia said, her voice hoarse from crying.
With trembling hands, she prepared to operate without proper conditions, knowing the risks of infection and blood loss.
As she made the first incision, Martin groaned in pain, even in his unconscious state.
Her tears fell again, but she continued, the knife cutting deeper, blood soaking her hands.
Patricia's fear was overwhelming as she worked to save Martin, hoping beyond hope that he would pull through.
