Chapter 1094 Worried That Hannah Might Remember Things She Shouldn't
Quentin and Lisa, however, didn't take it seriously. To them, Hannah had just lost her memory and didn't remember them, which was why she was saying such nonsense.
Lisa had always been good at acting. To avoid arousing Hannah's suspicion, her eyes immediately reddened, and tears fell instantly. She even pretended to wipe them away.
"Hannah, I know I used to like your brother, and you're still mad at me for that! But we really are your biological parents! You and Oliver are both our children. How could we not love you?"
"It's just that Oliver is younger than you, and he's been in poor health since childhood. Naturally, we cared for him a bit more! But that doesn't mean we don't love you! Hannah, we truly love you! Please don't be mad at us anymore, okay?"
Quentin's eyes were also red, and he looked very aggrieved. "Your mother is right. We did treat your brother a bit better in the past, which is why you've always been distant from us and felt we favored him. But that's all in the past! You are our daughter. How could we not love you?"
"Ever since your accident, your mom and I have been worried sick, unable to sleep night after night. When we heard from Charles yesterday that he found you, we immediately bought plane tickets to come see you. Hannah, please forgive us. Don't be mad at us anymore. We promise to treat you and your brother equally from now on, no more favoritism."
They really hadn't slept well for many nights. But whether it was because they were worried about her was only half true.
While they were concerned about her safety, they were more afraid of losing the wealth and status they had finally gained.
They had been poor all their lives and had only recently enjoyed a good life thanks to Charles. If something happened to Hannah, or if she no longer recognized them as her parents, they would return to their previous miserable days.
They were worried about this and couldn't sleep at night.
Although Hannah was resistant to them, she was still very naive, especially since their acting was so convincing. She quickly fell for it and looked up at Charles. "Is what they're saying true? The reason I don't like them is because they used to favor my brother?"
Charles looked at her with pity and then nodded. "Yes! When I met you, your relationship with them was already very bad!"
If he weren't wealthy and Quentin and Lisa weren't greedy, they probably wouldn't have agreed so easily to him being with Hannah.
"I see!" Hannah finally believed that Quentin and Lisa were her parents.
It turned out that her rejection of them wasn't because they weren't her parents, but because their relationship had always been bad, and she probably didn't like them from the bottom of her heart.
They had no emotional bond, so how could she have the familial affection that relatives should have?
Charles turned around, rubbed her head, and said softly, "But that's all in the past! Ever since we confirmed our relationship, your relationship with them has improved a lot. Later on, they treated you fairly well!"
Hannah knew that Charles was trying to comfort her, afraid she would be sad. Which person didn't want their parents to love them? But she wasn't one of them!
To be precise, it wasn't that she didn't want loving parents, but she inexplicably disliked the two people in front of her, whose eyes were filled with greed.
From their eyes, she couldn't see a trace of love for her, but rather a constant sense of calculation.
Maybe it was because she didn't remember anything that she could see things more clearly than before.
She hoped to have loving parents like Charles, a harmonious family, and parents who genuinely loved her and put her first.
Clearly, the two people in front of her couldn't meet all her expectations and fantasies about parents.
Hannah looked at the two people in front of her with a calm expression. Even though she had heard so much from them, she didn't show much enthusiasm, but she wasn't as distant and guarded as before.
She simply said very calmly, "I'm sorry, but I haven't remembered anything about you yet."
Quentin and Lisa panicked, exchanged glances, and were at a loss for what to do. The atmosphere suddenly became a bit awkward.
Lisa tentatively tried to reach out and hold Hannah's hand, but Hannah subtly avoided it.
The expression on her face immediately became a bit awkward. "Charles told me about your situation. I know you haven't remembered us yet, but don't worry. You are my daughter, and our blood relationship is unchangeable! Whether you remember or not, you are my daughter! It doesn't matter if you don't remember us, take your time."
In her heart, she couldn't help but worry. Hannah didn't remember them. Would this affect their wealth and status?
Quentin immediately nodded in agreement, "Yes, you will remember eventually! Oliver is about to apply for college. You always cared for him so much. After he finishes his application, I'll have him come over. Maybe seeing him will jog your memory."
To Hannah, the Oliver he mentioned was also very unfamiliar. She couldn't recall a single memory about Oliver. So her expression remained calm, without any change.
Seeing that Hannah didn't show the joy of seeing her parents and hadn't remembered any past moments, Charles immediately spoke to break the awkwardness.
"Quentin, Lisa, I booked a room for you at the hotel you stayed at last time! You must be tired from the journey. I'll have the driver take you to the hotel first."
Quentin and Lisa, seeing that Hannah didn't say anything, understood her attitude. They knew that staying longer would only bring more humiliation, so they nodded in agreement. "Thank you for the trouble!"
Outside the airport, a luxurious car was parked. Charles instructed the driver to take Quentin and Lisa to the hotel first.
Lisa smiled and said, "There's only one car. If the driver takes us to the hotel, how will you and Hannah get back? Why don't we go together? The driver can take us to the hotel first and then take you home."
Hannah's brow furrowed slightly. Charles immediately understood her meaning and smiled, shaking his head. "No need! There are buses here at the airport. We'll take the bus back."
Lisa immediately exaggerated, "How can you take the bus? You should take this car, and we'll take the bus."
Quentin immediately nodded in agreement. "The bus doesn't match your status. We'll take the bus! We didn't bring much luggage this time anyway."
Charles replied, "I intentionally want to take the bus! The scenery from the airport to the city is nice. We'll take the bus and enjoy the view. I'll consider it a date with Hannah!"
"Is that so?" Quentin and Lisa looked at Charles suspiciously, feeling that he was making an excuse.
Hannah was already tired of talking to them. She took Charles's hand and walked towards the bus stop.
Charles politely turned back to say goodbye to them.
Quentin and Lisa waved goodbye ingratiatingly. After they walked away, their faces instantly stiffened, and they withdrew their hands in frustration.
Lisa lowered her voice and whispered, "Quentin, what should we do? She doesn't remember us! Could she know something?"
Quentin glared at her. "Nothing has gone wrong all these years. There won't be any problems! Don't ever bring this up again. Just act like it never happened! Hannah is our daughter!"
Lisa immediately nodded in agreement. "You're right, she is just our daughter!"
