Chapter 780: Lapdog
Seeing Carter finally leave, Violet quickly hopped into the Langley family's car.
Patricia just smiled.
As Fannie walked by Charles, she patted his shoulder, "We should just let her stay at our place. Save her the hassle."
Charles shot her a warning look.
Fannie, unfazed, stretched and got into the car.
Charles sighed and followed her in.
Even though it was a seven-seater, it felt cramped with everyone inside.
Martin was driving, Patricia was in the front seat, and the five kids were in the back.
Randy was on a national tour and wasn't in Sunset Bay.
When Charles got in, Violet pushed Declan aside and excitedly patted the seat next to her, "Charles, sit here."
Charles felt Declan's cold stare but sat next to Violet anyway.
The car started moving.
Violet pulled out three lollipops from her backpack. Realizing there weren't enough to share, she only gave one to Charles.
Charles smugly looked at Fannie, Declan, and Maria before popping the lollipop into his mouth.
Violet unwrapped another one for herself.
Fannie and Maria, both lively and sociable, exchanged a glance and teased, "Why does only Charles get one? What about us?"
Violet hugged her backpack and said, "I only have three. Charles and I ate two, and I need to save the last one for tonight."
Fannie grinned mischievously, "Violet, do you know Charles got a love letter today? From the prettiest girl in our class! She's smart, not greedy, tall, and has a great figure."
"A love letter?"
Even at three, Violet knew a lot thanks to the internet and TV.
Hearing about the love letter, she clung to Charles's arm. "No way! Charles wouldn't like her. He likes me!"
Fannie shook her head, "No, no, no! You're too young for Charles. The prettiest girl in our class is perfect for him!"
Maria nodded, "Yeah, she's a great match for my brother! You're too young!"
Declan sneered at their childish behavior.
Violet, on the verge of crying, looked at Charles, "Charles, is it true? You can't like the girl in your class. We're supposed to get married when we grow up!"
Charles glared at Fannie and Maria, "If you make her cry again, I'll lock your computers so you can't play games."
Fannie immediately begged, "You can't do that! I just leveled up!"
Maria added, "If you lock the computer, I'll fight you!"
Charles smirked, "Then don't provoke her. If you make her cry again, I will."
Fannie and Maria instantly went quiet, puffing out their cheeks and glaring at Charles.
They turned away in a huff, refusing to look at him.
After dealing with them, Charles turned to comfort Violet. Luckily, she was easy to console. Soon, she stopped crying, though her small shoulders still trembled. "Charles, promise me you won't like any other girls."
Charles blushed and stiffly nodded.
Patricia, sitting in the front seat, watched their little spat through the rearview mirror, smiling to herself.
'Kids these days start writing love letters in elementary school.' She thought. Back when she was that age, she didn't understand any of this!
The weather was cold, and it got dark early. By the time Martin drove them home, it was already dark outside.
Martin brushed the snow off himself and Patricia, holding her hands, "Are you cold? If you are, next time let the driver pick them up from school. You don't have to go."
Patricia felt warm inside and shook her head, "I'm not cold! I was just happy to be there. I also don't feel at ease if I'm not there."
Martin smiled, brushing a snowflake from her hair.
Charles glanced at them disdainfully and led Violet into the house. Martin only had eyes for Patricia. They were truly in love.
Maria had just finished changing her shoes and hadn't gone inside when a small figure rushed over, tightly hugging her arm, "Maria."
Maria looked closely and realized it was Ryan's son, Tyler Parker.
"Tyler, what are you doing here?"
For some reason, Tyler always liked to cling to her, but she didn't enjoy playing with him at all. He was just a kid, and she didn't like playing with kids.
Tyler didn't care whether she liked or not. He grabbed Maria's hand and wouldn't let go.
"Maria, I wanted to play with you, so Ryan brought me over."
As he finished speaking, Ryan and Daisy walked hand in hand from the living room to the foyer.
Daisy said apologetically, "You guys are finally back! Tyler has been pestering me all day to find Maria. I couldn't take it anymore, so I brought him over, and we thought we'd have dinner here too."
Patricia laughed, "It's a pity he's younger than Maria. Otherwise, they could make a perfect match!"
She had originally thought that if Daisy had a daughter, she could pair her with Patricia's son. After all, she had many sons to choose from. But Daisy had a son, Tyler. Not to mention Fannie, even Maria was much older than Tyler. This idea had ended because Daisy had a son.
Little did she know, her words made Maria shiver, and she waved her hands frantically, "No way, I don't want to marry a kid who only knows how to cry and has no sense of responsibility!"
Daisy, however, agreed with her, "I think it's a good idea! Maria is only three years older than him!"
Maria's skin crawled, "I hereby declare, don't joke about me and Tyler! I don't like little boys."
With that, she waved her hand, shook off Tyler's hand, and went inside.
Tyler, being young, couldn't understand what they were talking about. Seeing Maria went inside, he chased after her.
Ryan looked at Tyler and sighed, "Tyler and Violet just love playing with your kids!"
Patricia raised eyebrows proudly, "Of course, just look at how excellent my kids are, each one of them beautiful."
Ryan pouted, "As if my son isn't handsome!"
Patricia laughed heartily at his words and went inside.
