Chapter 1162 Hatred and Madness

Hannah quickly pulled out her phone and called Oliver.

The phone rang for what felt like forever. Just when Hannah thought he wouldn't pick up, he finally answered.

Oliver's groggy voice came through. "Hannah? You actually called me? Mom and Dad said you lost your memory before they went to Sunset Bay and forgot all about us!"

Hannah chuckled. "I'm at your school gate right now! Charles and I are here to take you out for a meal!"

Oliver perked up. "Awesome! Let's hit up that restaurant we always go to near the school. You remember it?"

Hannah laughed. "Of course, I do. I'll be waiting for you in a small private room on the second floor!"

"Great! I'll clean up my desk and head over!"

After hanging up, Hannah had Charles wheel her to the restaurant across the street from the school.

It was a simple, small restaurant mainly catering to students. The decor was basic, and the private rooms were tiny, just big enough for a table.

Seeing Charles in his custom-made shirt and trousers, his tall frame squeezed into the small room, Hannah couldn't help but laugh. "Feeling out of place?"

Charles shrugged. "I'm not as delicate as you think! I had tough times growing up with my mom. It was only after she made a name for herself in the medical field that our lives improved. I wasn't born into luxury. I can enjoy the good life, but I can handle hardship too. Besides, this isn't hardship. I like the atmosphere here; it's got a real down-to-earth vibe."

Just then, the door opened, and Oliver walked in with a big smile. "He's right. This place has a great vibe. It may not be as fancy as high-end restaurants, but the food is way better."

Seeing him, Hannah waved him over with a smile. "I ordered some of your favorite dishes! Check the menu and see if you want to add anything."

But Oliver's attention was on Hannah's wheelchair. "Hannah, what happened? Why are you in a wheelchair? Are you going to be okay?"

Hannah playfully tapped his forehead. "Don't worry! I had a car accident and fractured my leg. It's not a big deal. I'm using the wheelchair to recover faster. I'll be back on my feet soon."

Relieved, Oliver turned his attention to the menu and started discussing additional dishes with Hannah. He didn't forget to ask Charles, "Charles, is there anything you want to add?"

Hannah answered for him. "I've already ordered for him. He's not picky; he'll eat anything."

Oliver nodded. "Okay, then. This should be enough. We probably won't finish it all. Should we cancel a couple of dishes?"

Hannah shook her head. "No need. You're still growing. Eat up! If there's any left, take it back to your dorm for a late-night snack."

Oliver didn't argue further.

It was peak dining time, so the food took a while to arrive. Hannah took the opportunity to chat with him.

She touched his shoulder, noticing his oversized school uniform. "You've lost weight."

Oliver didn't seem to care. "Of course, I have! I'm a senior now, and the workload is intense. We're in the advanced class, so the pressure is even higher. Everyone in my class has lost weight."

Hannah felt proud. "You have grown up and become so responsible. You're not the mischievous middle schooler you used to be."

Oliver blushed and scratched his head. "I was just a kid back then."

Hannah asked, "So, Oliver, you still aiming for D University?"

Oliver nodded. "Yeah, if I get into D University, I'll be at the same school as you! I think I have a good shot."

Hannah was thrilled. She couldn't help but ruffle his hair.

Oliver suddenly remembered something. "Hey, didn't Mom and Dad go to Sunset Bay to find you? They said you had an accident and lost your memory. Did you get it back?"

Hannah's eyes darkened at the mention of Lisa. Oliver's exams were next month, and she didn't want to distract him. His exam results would shape his future, and she couldn't let anything jeopardize that.

After a moment's thought, Hannah decided to keep the truth from him until after his exams. "Yeah, I got my memory back and gave them a lot of money to travel the world. I can't even reach them now! Focus on your studies and exams. Aim to get into the same school as me."

Oliver didn't doubt her. In his mind, their parents were capable of such a thing. Besides, she had no reason to lie.

"Good for them! They've worked hard all their lives; they deserve to enjoy themselves." Oliver said.

Charles lowered his eyes, a hint of sarcasm flashing in them.

Their hardships were due to their own laziness. After Hannah was sent to them, their lives weren't luxurious, but certainly not bad. They squandered everything themselves.

Hannah didn't respond to that. Instead, she changed the subject. "Oliver, have you thought about studying abroad?"

Oliver's eyes lit up. "Can I?"

His expression gave Hannah the answer.

Hannah smiled. "If you want to, you can. Charles and I have discussed it. If you want to study abroad, we'll support you. You can choose any major you like. When you return, if your major fits, you can work at Charles's company. If not, he'll help you find a job. Of course, you can find your own job if you prefer. We'll cover all your expenses. Just focus on your studies."

Oliver was so excited he almost jumped out of his seat, nodding vigorously. "I want to! Charles has always been my idol. I want to study computer science like him and start my own business after graduation!"

Hannah nodded. "If you study abroad, you don't need to take the exams. We can send you right away."

Oliver frowned. "No, the exams are next month. I want to take them to see how well I've learned."

Seeing his determination, Hannah didn't push. "Alright, it's up to you. You're old enough to make your own decisions. Charles and I respect that."

Oliver hugged Hannah, excited. "Thank you, Hannah. You're the best."

Hannah patted his back. "Silly boy, I'm your sister. It's normal that I'm good to you."

Oliver felt genuinely happy. He enjoyed the meal thoroughly.

After dinner, Oliver returned to school. Hannah gave him enough money to last him a month, with plenty left over.

Hannah had considered renting him a place near the school so he could focus on his studies, but she worried about him living alone at eighteen. She decided against it.

They stood at the school gate, watching Oliver go in before turning to leave.

Unbeknownst to them, a shadow emerged from a corner near the school, eyes filled with hatred and madness as they watched them leave.
