Chapter 672 The Truth Of Identity Revealed
Facing his questioning, Sebastian did not get angry.
He knew that during this period, it was normal for Kaleb to have doubts.
"Don't you think it's quite a coincidence? Patricia bears a striking resemblance to Margaret"
Kaleb was confused.
Yes!
He also found it strange at the time.
Sebastian continued, "If you're skeptical, we can conduct a DNA test! Furthermore, if you require more evidence, I can ask Charles to send over additional photographs of my aunt."
Finishing his words, he didn't forget to explain, "Charles is Patricia's eldest son! Despite being just over five years old, he is a computer whiz, very smart and sensible."
Nervously, Kaleb asked, "Are there any additional photographs?"
Sebastian replied, "Of course! Despite my aunt's passing when Patricia was quite young, she kept numerous pictures of her aunt! Whenever she yearned for her aunt, she would retrieve the photographs to reminisce."
Upon hearing this, Kaleb immediately nodded in agreement.
The years of separation they had always been his regret.
He felt remorseful for not being there for Margaret and for missing out on witnessing Patricia's growth.
Would these photographs afford him the opportunity to see Margaret at various stages of her life?
Sebastian signaled to Martin.
It was nighttime in the other country.
Ivara City was just in the morning.
Martin directly initiated a video call with Charles.
The video call connected quickly.
The three little ones were sitting at the breakfast table, and upon seeing Martin's video call, they all immediately gathered around.
Three tiny heads squeezed into the small phone screen.
"Dad, Ryan, Sebastian..."
The three little ones looked at each person they could see in turn.
Their curious gazes scanned each face on the screen before landing back on Martin. Then, they realized Patricia was missing, and confusion crept into their voices, "Where's Mommy, Dad? We miss her. Can you bring her here?"
Although Kaleb was visible on the screen, the kids seemed to overlook him entirely.
Seeing their innocence, Kaleb felt a surge of emotion, his eyes misting with tears.
Martin gestured towards Kaleb, prompting, "Hey, don't forget to greet Kaleb."
Finally acknowledging him, the kids muttered, "Hello, Kaleb..."
Even though it was just a polite greeting without any personal feelings, Kaleb was still moved to tears.
If Patricia was truly his daughter.
Then, they were his grandchildren.
He actually had grandchildren now.
Martin asked Charles, "Charles, do you know where Mom put Grandma's belongings?"
Charles nodded. "Yes! What's up?"
Martin instructed, "Grab your phone, head inside, and see if you can find Grandma's photos! And show us what Grandma left behind."
Furrowing his brows, Charles asked, "Why do you want to see Grandma's stuff? Mom treasures those things the most. She explicitly ordered us not to touch them. If she finds out, she'll kill me."
Martin shot him a look. "I didn't realize you were such a stickler for rules; if someone says don't budge, you won't budge."
This kid.
He was obedient when he wanted to be.
But when he didn't want to, he was the most disobedient.
Now that he was needed, he was deliberately being difficult.
Charles said, "I've always been obedient."
If it weren't for the screen between them, Martin's fist might have flown..
"No more lip, just get to it... If your mom comes after you, I'll take the heat."
Charles grumbled. "Sure, you're just as scared of her, always bending to her will. How can you say you'll cover for us?"
Although he said that, he obediently picked up the phone and headed towards where Patricia kept Elise's belongings.
Martin blushed at the jab, feeling utterly embarrassed.
Especially when he felt the teasing gazes around him, he wished he could dig a hole and hide.
Ryan chuckled. "I never knew that you're henpecked."
Before he could finish his sentence, Martin gave him a deathly stare and quickly shut his mouth, his priority being self-preservation.
After the phone camera shook for a moment, it finally arrived at the place where the belongings were stored.
It was a room set up by Patricia, filled with items from Elise's life.
There were clothes Elise had worn, cups she had used, towels... and some jewelry she had treasured, carefully preserved and never used.
Though most of the items had been lost to the flames, the most precious ones had been salvaged.
Charles fixed the phone on the desk and started searching through the drawers.
Suddenly, Kaleb remembered something and asked hurriedly, "Charles, see if there's a rabbit jade pendant inside..."
Before he could finish, Charles had already found the photos and held them up to the camera.
"Got them! How's the view? Clear enough?"
It was a photo taken in a photo studio of Patricia on her third birthday, with Elise holding her.
Three-year-old Patricia, who had two high ponytails, sat on Elise's lap, facing the camera, and showed a happy smile with her small, pearl-like teeth.
Elise, in her white floral dress, held the little girl tightly, protecting her from any fall.
Though Elise's smile seemed genuine, a hint of hidden sorrow lingered in her eyes.
Even in a mere photograph, even as Elise diligently masked her emotions, they could still discern the unspoken turmoil underlying her every expression.
Kaleb felt tears prickling his eyes.
Even though the Elise in the photo looked nothing like the cheerful girl he remembered.
Kaleb was certain that this was the woman he had been searching for desperately for over twenty years.
And the photos of Linda's rental house, each capturing Elise in a state of exuberant joy.
How could she truly be happy, having left the man she loved the most?
Heavy thoughts must have burdened her.
Charles didn't know if they were satisfied, so he took out a few more photos and showed them one by one.
"It's Margaret... it's her... it's her..."
At this moment, he was a hundred percent sure that Elise was Margaret, and Margaret was Elise.
And Patricia was indeed his biological daughter.
Charles remembered what he had said earlier, lowered his head, searched through several drawers, and finally found the rabbit necklace. in a black diary tucked away in the corner.
