Chapter 613 Departure to D Country
Shane only knew that Patricia and Martin were going to D country, but he didn't know what they were going there for. He initially wanted to accompany them, but Patricia gently refused.
"Susie had just become pregnant, and it gave Shane peace of mind knowing that Jeremy was with her. In case she felt uncomfortable, they could help at any time. Besides, with five children at home, they could also look after them for me," Patricia said.
Shane glanced at the tired-looking Ariel and then at the equally tired Martin.
It was difficult for him to decide whom to choose.
Furthermore, Patricia continued, "Besides, you are getting older, and it takes over ten hours to travel to Country D from here! Your body might not be able to handle it! Please, listen to me and stay here until I come back."
Shane had just reunited with his granddaughter, and now they had to separate again. He was reluctant to let her go.
But he knew he was getting old.
Another granddaughter was pregnant again.
In the end, Shane agreed to Patricia.
"OK! I will stay here to take care of your sister! Finish your business in Country D and come back quickly! The three of us will be waiting here for you."
It was challenging to make this trip.
Once he arrived, he didn't want to go back.
Moreover, Charles had called a couple of days ago, asking him to stay here for a few more days.
Charles was worried about potential traitors at home and didn't want to risk hurting Shane, the older man.
Shane had great faith in Charles' abilities.
Besides, Randy was at home helping him.
To avoid being a burden to them, he decided to stay temporarily.
Three days later.
Patricia packed her luggage and boarded a private plane to Country D with Martin.
Martin had intended to chat with Patricia on the plane, but his health was too poor. He leaned on Patricia's shoulder and fell asleep shortly after boarding.
Patricia called a flight attendant and asked for a thin blanket to cover him.
With company matters on her mind, Patricia didn't sleep along with Martin but took out her laptop and placed it on her lap to work.
The time passed quietly.
Soon, the plane landed at the airport in Country D.
Patricia had not informed Maximilian in advance about their arrival in Country D so there was no dedicated car waiting for them outside the airport. Instead, they hailed a taxi and went to the hotel.
It was nighttime in Country D at this moment.
After arriving at the hotel, Patricia first notified her family that they had arrived safely and then contacted Maximilian.
Upon hearing that they were already in Country D, Maximilian widened his eyes in surprise. "You're already here? Why didn't you tell me earlier? I could have sent a car to pick you up."
"I'm sorry! It's too late today. Do you have time tomorrow? I can come to your house."
Maximilian replied, "I just finished my work, so I have time now! Where are you guys? Have you had dinner? Let me treat you to dinner!"
Patricia glanced at Martin, hesitating a bit. "This is really embarrassing."
Maximilian was firm in his attitude. "No problem! It's still early, and I don't sleep early either."
Patricia looked at Martin, silently asking if he agreed.
Martin nodded.
Patricia agreed to Maximilian's request, but she didn't ask him to come to the hotel to pick them up. Instead, they decided to meet directly at the restaurant.
Worried that they wouldn't be used to Western cuisine, Maximilian booked an Italian restaurant.
When Patricia and Martin arrived, Maximilian had been waiting in the room for a while.
Patricia apologized, "I'm sorry we're late. We kept you waiting!"
"No problem!" Maximilian stood up and personally invited them to take a seat.
Patricia pointed at Martin and introduced him, "This is my husband, Martin, the former CEO of the Langley Group."
Maximilian shook hands with Martin. "Hello! I've heard of you, Mr. Langley, and now that I see you, I see that you're indeed elegant."
Martin politely replied, "I apologize for bothering you during this visit to Country D."
Maximilian smiled. "No problem! Although I've only met Mrs. Watson a few times, for some reason, I feel very close to her, like family."
After chatting, the three of them sat down to eat.
During the meal, Maximilian asked about the purpose of their visit.
"You came to Country D this time to find Dr. Tate?"
Patricia nodded. "My husband has had some health issues, and we heard that Dr. Tate is an authority in this field, so I want him to examine my husband."
Maximilian lowered his gaze to the food on the table, a subtle glimmer passing through his eyes.
"How much do you know about Dr. Tate?"
Patricia shook her head. "I've heard of Dr. Tate, but by the time I entered the field, Dr. Tate had already retired from the medical field! And no one knows where he went, only that he is now in Country D. I know it's audacious of me to come here, but I have no other choice! If you can help me find Dr. Tate, I would be extremely grateful, Mr. Reed."
Maximilian added spaghetti to Patricia's bowl.
"In fact, I know where Dr. Tate is! After you called me last time and asked me to find him, I sent someone to look for him. A few days ago, I finally found out his whereabouts. But..."
He stopped here, not continuing with his words.
Thinking that Dr. Tate might already be deceased, Patricia held her breath. "But what?"
Maximilian said, "But he doesn't want to help anyone with medical treatment."
Patricia let out a sigh of relief. "Where does he live? I will go and plead with him. No matter what it takes, I will convince him to help."
Maximilian looked at Patricia from head to toe with a meaningful gaze. "Alright! Maybe your words will be more effective than mine."
Patricia didn't catch the hidden meaning in his words, but she was delighted to hear that he would give her Dr. Tate's address. She happily drank two glasses of red wine.
Maximilian told Patricia the address that same evening.
At night, Patricia held the paper with Dr. Tate's address, smiling from ear to ear.
She had never expected that finding Dr. Tate would be this easy.
She thought it would take a lot of time and effort!
Finding Dr. Tate meant that Martin's illness would soon be cured, and their family would be reunited.
"Hehe..."
She was so happy that she unconsciously burst into laughter.
Coming out of the shower, Martin sat next to her, gently rubbing her head. "Why are you laughing like a fool?"
Patricia got up and rested her head on his thigh, affectionately rubbing against him.
"We will soon find Dr. Tate, and I feel so happy! I never thought things would go so smoothly!"
Martin was infected by her good mood and started laughing along. "Silly girl, it's getting late. You need to shower and go to bed! I'm not feeling well and can't stay up late!"
Patricia jumped up and said, "OK! I'll go shower now and go see Dr. Tate tomorrow morning!"
Whether it was because she was too excited or for some other reason, Patricia couldn't fall asleep in bed.
She tossed and turned until Martin held her in his arms, his large hands resting on her slender waist, and Patricia slowly fell asleep.
