Chapter 774 Ill Intentions
Violet's baby shower came up fast.
Charles had just started school but took a day off just for the event. He got ready early and waited in the living room for his parents.
He kept checking the time, urging, "Can you hurry up?"
Patricia, annoyed, adjusted her collar as she came downstairs, "Why the rush? It's only eight. Why go so early?"
Charles replied seriously, "Being on time shows respect for Violet's family!"
Patricia rolled her eyes, "I know you just miss Violet since you haven't seen her in days!"
Charles blushed, caught off guard.
Patricia then grabbed Martin's tie, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him.
Martin didn't resist, looking at her with deep affection, wanting more.
Charles, grossed out, got goosebumps.
Kaleb laughed, "Alright, it's getting late. You should go."
Patricia asked Kaleb, "Why don't you come with us?"
Kaleb shook his head, "No, I'm old and don't like crowds. You go ahead! I might have to go back to Country D tomorrow."
Patricia, worried, asked, "What's wrong?"
Kaleb smiled, "It's good news! Maximilian fell for Carol and wants me to propose to the Hill family for him!"
Patricia's eyes widened, "Maximilian finally likes someone?"
Kaleb laughed, "At his age, it's about time! And it's Carol! I'm very pleased."
Patricia nodded, "Yes! When the wedding date is set, we'll go early!"
She had noticed Carol liked Maximilian but thought he saw her as a sister. She never expected him to fall for her. Carol finally found happiness after tough times.
Kaleb nodded, "Yes, indeed!"
After one last check, Patricia took Maria, Declan, and Charles and drove off.
The baby shower was at the Sunset Bay Hotel. All the important people in Sunset Bay were invited. Given the Moore family's status, everyone arrived early. Even Ryan and Daisy showed up early. The hall was packed and lively.
Lassie and the servants stayed in the lounge with Violet and Austin, while Carter greeted guests outside.
As Martin and his family arrived, Ryan and Daisy came over to greet them, "Martin, you're usually not this late. Carter's family is hosting, and you're just now arriving?"
Martin glared, "Do you think it's easy for me? I have a wife and kids to take care of. It takes time."
Ryan shot back, "Martin, why the sarcasm?"
Martin smirked, "Right back at you."
Daisy's eyes landed on Charles. He was dressed in a silver-white custom suit, making his fair face glow. With his sharp features, he looked like a little prince.
Daisy said, "Charles, looking handsome! Gotta impress your future wife, huh?"
Charles blushed, knowing Patricia and Daisy had been talking. He glared at Patricia and awkwardly asked, "Where are Carter and Lassie?"
Daisy teased, "Missing your wife already? They're in the back lounge. Come on, I'll take you."
Annoyed, Charles glared at her and headed to the lounge with his gift.
Patricia and Daisy exchanged knowing smiles.
Just as Charles left, Logan arrived with Lily and Harper. Harper was dressed to impress in a sky-blue gown with sequins, showing off her figure. Her fur wrap revealed her collarbones, catching everyone's eye.
Daisy frowned, "It's a baby shower, not a wine party!"
Patricia sneered, "She's clearly trying to seduce her brother-in-law. Is this a trend now?"
Debbie was like this, and now Harper too. Why go after their sisters' men?
Daisy shook her head, "Harper's trouble. Your daughter-in-law's in for it. She'll definitely bully Violet."
Patricia's eyes narrowed, "She wouldn't dare! If she bullies my daughter-in-law, she'll regret it."
Violet was Charles's treasure. If she got hurt, Charles would lose it. This couldn't happen.
Daisy wasn't convinced, "Just wait and see."
Patricia glared at Harper with displeasure.
Harper approached Carter with a smile, trying to link arms, but Carter coldly avoided her.
Carter said, "Feel free for yourself. I have other guests."
He walked away without looking back.
Harper's face turned red with anger, glaring at where Carter had left, clenching her fists. She had never failed to seduce a man and refused to believe Carter could resist her.
Harper narrowed her eyes and quietly slipped out when no one was watching.
