Chapter 939 Hannah's Misunderstanding

Seeing Violet like this, Lassie felt her heart shatter. She suddenly grabbed Charles's hand, her eyes begging him.

Charles looked confused.

Lassie whispered, "Charles, she only remembers you now. She trusts you the most. Please, I'm begging you, help me out here."

Charles was still puzzled. "How can I help?"

Lassie forced a smile through her tears. "Just go comfort her, say something nice. Maybe she'll agree to go to the hospital. She really needs to go."

Charles frowned. "Me? Are you sure I can do it?"

They'd been apart for seven years. He doubted he still meant that much to Violet.

Besides, didn't Violet forget everything?

Lassie kept nodding. "It'll work! Ever since she got her memory back, she's been desperate to find you. You're the only one she recognizes now. You make her feel safe. She'll listen to you! Charles, you used to love her the most, right? You can't stand seeing her like this, can you?"

She knew she shouldn't be doing this.

Charles had his own life now, and she couldn't let Violet mess it up.

But seeing Violet like this, as a mom, it broke her heart.

If she could fix Violet, she'd do anything.

Charles felt awful too.

Especially seeing Violet like this, he felt a heavy responsibility.

As Violet's boyfriend, not protecting her was his failure.

Charles sighed, "Don't say that! I don't know if I can do it, but I'll try."

Seeing him agree, Lassie looked hopeful and kept nodding. "It'll work. Just don't upset her; she can't handle it right now."

"Okay!" Charles nodded and slowly walked towards Violet.

Violet was terrified, completely lost in fear. Hearing footsteps, she grabbed a pillow from the sofa and threw it. "Stay away. Get out."

The pillow hit Charles and fell to the ground.

He glanced at the pillow at his feet, pursed his lips, and said softly, "Violet, it's me. I'm Charles."

Hearing his name, Violet froze mid-throw with another pillow.

Her empty eyes slowly started to focus.

Seeing her calm down a bit, Charles kept moving closer.

Violet held the pillow high, but as Charles got closer, she didn't throw it.

Her eyes locked onto Charles.

When he stood in front of her, she couldn't hold back anymore and threw herself into his arms, hugging his waist tightly. "Charles, I'm so scared."

Charles instinctively wanted to push her away, but then Lassie's pleading look flashed in his mind. He turned to see Lassie with her hands clasped, silently begging him.

His outstretched hand stopped, and he gently patted Violet's back. "What's there to be scared of? Once you're treated, you'll remember more things from the past. That's a good thing."

Violet kept shaking her head, her face full of terror. "But it hurts so much. Those memories are so scary, and I'm really scared."

Charles turned in surprise to look at Carter and Lassie, silently asking them why it hurt.

Lassie immediately walked over, stood behind Violet, and gently rubbed her head. "I'll ask them to be gentler, okay? It doesn't actually hurt; you're just too tense, so the pain feels worse."

Hearing her voice, Violet screamed in fear and buried her head in Charles's stomach, as if the person who spoke wasn't her mom but a monster.

Charles stood there stiffly, not knowing how things had come to this. His temples throbbed painfully.

Lassie cried in distress, looking at Charles pleadingly.

Charles sighed and softened his voice, "Hey, come on. I'll go with you! It doesn't hurt at all! You don't trust them, but don't you trust me?"

He tried to make his voice as gentle as possible, but it came out awkward and stiff.

Violet kept shaking her head. "No, I don't want to. You're all lying to me."

Charles patiently coaxed, "I'm not lying to you. I'll stay with you through the whole thing!"

He needed to understand the situation clearly, no matter what.

Otherwise, how could he end their relationship?

His words seemed to have a calming effect. Violet looked up at him, her eyes swollen from crying, and pitifully asked, "Really? You'll really stay with me?"

Charles nodded, "Really, I'll stay with you."

Just as he finished speaking, there was a sudden noise at the door.

Everyone's eyes turned to the door simultaneously.

They saw Hannah and Stella, who were supposed to be in their dorms, standing at the door. Stella was still holding her phone, but it had fallen to the ground.

The noise just now was from her phone hitting the floor.

Her mouth was wide open, looking at Charles in disbelief, as if she had been greatly shocked. She moved her lips, seemingly wanting to speak, but no sound came out.

Hannah stood beside her.

The two of them blocked the doorway.

It was uncertain how much Hannah had heard, but her face was pale, her lips trembling violently, and her eyes first showed disbelief, then disappointment, and finally were covered by sadness.

She looked at Charles quietly, as if she had expected all of this, without crying or making a scene, eerily calm.

Seeing her like this, Charles felt like his heart was out of place, the pain making it hard to breathe.

He didn't know how much they had heard. But Hannah must have misunderstood.

He quickly pushed away Violet's arms from his waist, wanting to explain. But Violet wouldn't let go, hugging even tighter. "Charles, where are you going? You said you'd stay with me."

Hannah felt like she was an extra person.

Now that Violet was back, her role as a stand-in was over.

It was that how it always went in novels.

A stand-in was just a stand-in, never as good as the person Charles truly loved.

"Sorry, I must have come at a bad time!" After saying this, Hannah left.

"Hannah." Stella called out anxiously, but seeing Hannah not turn back, she glared angrily at Charles and quickly followed. "Hannah, don't walk so fast. Wait for me."

Charles wanted to chase after her, but his waist was tightly hugged by Violet. He didn't dare to use force, afraid of hurting her.

Carter and Lassie realized something was wrong and managed to pull Violet away with unexpected strength.

Carter said, "Don't worry about us. Go after Hannah. We'll handle things here!"

Charles had finally gotten together with Hannah. If a misunderstanding caused by Violet ruined it, they would feel very guilty.

As soon as Violet was pulled away, she started to go crazy.

She held her head like a mentally ill patient, screaming non-stop.

Seeing her like this, Charles hesitated for a moment but ultimately chose to leave Violet and chase after Hannah.

Fearing Carter and Lassie couldn't handle the situation, he immediately called Wyatt to come and help.

Wyatt had been waiting in the car at the hotel entrance, ready to take Violet to the hospital. It didn't take long for him to reach the penthouse suite.

Seeing Charles unhesitatingly go after Hannah, Carter and Lassie understood that Hannah had completely taken over Charles's heart and Violet had no chance at all.
