Chapter 1185 The Biggest Mastermind Revealed
Charles didn't answer her right away. Instead, he went to the bathroom, turned on the hot water, and started filling the bathtub. Then he grabbed a clean set of clothes from his suitcase and handed them to her. "Go take a bath first!"
Hannah couldn't help but sniff herself. "Yeah, I do smell! We've been on the road for days, cramped in that tiny car. I was about to lose my mind!"
Charles said, "Take a good soak. I had the hotel clean and disinfect the tub. It's spotless, so don't worry."
Hannah nodded, took the clothes, and went into the bathroom.
A moment later, she came back out, the clean clothes nowhere to be seen.
Charles was rummaging through his suitcase for his own clothes. Seeing her return, he asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
Hannah walked up to Charles and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Charles looked puzzled.
Hannah stood on her tiptoes and kissed him lightly on the lips.
"Want to join me?"
Charles was still confused.
Hannah leaned in close to his ear and whispered seductively, "It's been so long since we took a bath together."
It was like fireworks went off in Charles' head. He lost all sense of reason, tossed the clean clothes onto the bed, and scooped Hannah up in his arms, striding towards the bathroom.
Time slipped away unnoticed.
When they finally emerged from the bathroom, two hours had passed.
Hannah was exhausted, panting heavily, not wanting to move a muscle, lying limply in Charles' arms.
Charles gently laid her on the bed, covered her with a blanket, and took a pill bottle from his suitcase. He shook out a pill and fed it to her, then handed her a glass of water.
Hannah propped herself up slightly and swallowed the pill with the water.
Charles, wearing a bathrobe, sat on the edge of the bed and gently tucked her hair behind her ear. "Your stomach might feel a bit bloated later, but once the tracker is out, you'll feel better."
Hannah nodded obediently. "Okay."
Charles kissed her on the forehead. "Are you tired? Get some sleep. I have a few things to take care of. I'll join you once I'm done."
Hannah was too tired to ask any questions. She mumbled a response and closed her eyes, quickly falling into a deep sleep.
All the questions that had been swirling in her mind were now forgotten. All she wanted was a good night's sleep.
Seeing her asleep, Charles got up and quietly left the room, closing the door gently so as not to wake her.
Charles tightened his robe and stepped out onto the balcony. He took out his phone and made a call.
The call was answered quickly.
Charles lowered his voice and asked, "How's it going?"
A man's voice came from the other end, "Everything's going smoothly. They haven't noticed us. But we haven't found anyone contacting them yet."
Charles' expression turned serious. "Keep a close watch. Report any developments to me immediately. Don't let them catch on."
"I understand. We'll keep a 24-hour watch on him."
"Good."
After ending the call, Charles put his phone back in his robe pocket and leaned on the balcony railing, lost in thought as he stared into the darkness.
Charlotte had been caught.
But who was Austin's other accomplice?
Who had the power to orchestrate all of this from behind the scenes?
Could it be Hunter?
The thought of that name made Charles' face darken, but he quickly dismissed the idea.
His parents had seen Hunter cremated with their own eyes. It couldn't possibly be him.
Hunter had been so cunning that his parents had double-checked his identity before the cremation.
Besides, with Hunter's obsessive possessiveness towards his mother, he wouldn't have had the patience to wait twenty years to act.
The target was still Hannah and him.
So, who was this person?
Was their ultimate goal really Hannah and him, or was there another motive?
This time, no matter what, they had to root them out completely. They couldn't leave any hidden dangers behind.
Otherwise, even if he were with Hannah, they wouldn't have any peace.
He hoped this time they could really draw out the mastermind.
And then deal with them once and for all.
Feeling restless, Charles wanted to smoke to relieve the stress. He instinctively reached for his pocket, but there was nothing there except his phone.
Unable to sleep, Charles stood on the balcony, letting the cold wind blow over him.
He didn't know how much time had passed when he suddenly heard a faint noise from the room.
Knowing it must be the medicine taking effect, Charles quickly shook off his worries and rushed back into the room.
Hannah, who should have been asleep in bed, was gone, and the bathroom light was on.
Charles walked to the bathroom door and knocked. "Hannah, is the medicine working?"
Hannah's pained voice came from inside, "Yes, it is! My stomach hurts so much!"
Charles said, "It'll be better once it's out! I'll get you some hot water. Drinking it will help."
"Okay, thanks!"
Charles left the room to get her some hot water.
Hannah stayed in the bathroom for a long time before coming out, clutching her stomach.
Charles immediately bent down to pick her up and carried her to the bed, gently setting her down and handing her the cup of hot water from the nightstand.
"Drink some water first. The tracker was in your body for a long time, so your stomach hurts. But don't worry, I calculated that it should be out after three times at most."
"Yeah, I know. It's okay. As long as it comes out." Hannah took the hot water and sipped it slowly.
Just as Charles predicted, Hannah went to the bathroom two more times, each time staying in there for a long while.
By the third time, the tracker was finally out.
With the tracker out, her stomach was almost completely emptied, and she finally felt some relief.
But after three trips to the bathroom, she was nearly exhausted.
She lay limp, too weak to even speak.
Charles tenderly brushed the hair from her forehead and face, speaking softly, "The tracker was in you for too long, and you had to strain a lot to get it out, so your intestines are a bit damaged. It's best not to eat anything tonight. Tomorrow, I'll prepare some light, liquid food for you. You'll be back to normal in a couple of days."
Hannah shook her head and managed a weak smile. "It's okay. We caught Austin's accomplice, right? As long as we can take them all down, a little suffering is worth it."
Charles gently stroked her pale, weak face.
Hannah scooted over to make room for Charles. "Are you done with your work? If you are, come sleep with me. It's been so long since you slept with me."
Charles smiled warmly, took off his shoes, and got into bed. He lay down beside Hannah, letting her rest her head on his arm, and kissed her gently on the forehead.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Hannah snuggled into his arms, found the most comfortable position, closed her eyes, and soon fell into a deep sleep again.
