Chapter 78 Patricia Negotiates with Debbie.
After returning home, Patricia rolled up her sleeves and started cooking in the kitchen.
Fannie was watching cartoons, while Charles sat in front of the computer, habitually accessing the Ivara City Hospital website and forum.
Since mommy started working at Ivara City Hospital, the first thing he did after coming home from school most days was to check the hospital's website and forum for the latest updates.
Today was no exception. As soon as he opened the forum, he saw a hot post with over eight thousand replies.
The title of the post read:
‘Personally Appointed by Mr. Langley, Professor Brown Makes a Strong Comeback.’
Charles frowned at the intriguing title and clicked onto the post to open it. The first comment that popped up was about Debbie returning to work.
“This afternoon at three o'clock, Mr. Langley personally issued the order to restore Debbie to her previous position. The Thomas family's Bobby is now under her full responsibility.” One of the posts read.
The comments below were in an uproar.

"Debbie actually returned to work. How can such a deceitful person be allowed to do so? What is Mr. Langley thinking?"

As Charles quickly skimmed through the posts, a chilling frost seemed to surround him, and a strong sense of coldness flickered in his eyes.
"Dad truly is a bastard, always letting us down. No wonder Mommy came back today, she must be really upset!" Charles said under his breath.
Charles specifically searched for news about Debbie and Greta.
As it turned out, the two had known each other since childhood and forming a strong friendship in their early years.
Attended the same high school, and even got admitted to the same university but in different departments.
Greta had studied business administration while Debbie studied clinical medicine.
They had a decade-long relationship, so it wasn't surprising that Madame Thomas entrusted Bobby to Debbie.
As for the revelation about Martin once owing a favor to Madam Thomas, there was no trace of it online. It had likely been deliberately erased or it was one of those rich family secretes, Charles thought.
After checking on Debbie and Greta, Charles started digging into Bobby.
Suddenly, one piece of information regarding Bobby’s diagnosis caught his attention.
"Bobby's coronary artery disease had narrowed blood vessels with a diameter less than 1mm, making him unsuitable for coronary artery bypass surgery. Several hospitals have already refused to perform the operation on him." One medical report read.
Charles didn't understand medical matters that well being more of a tech wizard, so he went to the kitchen to ask Patricia.
"Mommy, if someone has coronary artery disease with narrowed blood vessels measuring less than 1mm in diameter, does that mean they can't have surgery?"
Patricia was stir-frying dishes and didn't think further on the inquiry and casually responded, "Yes! In this situation, surgery is not recommended as the risks are very high."
Charles asked again, "Do you have confidence in performing it?"
As Patricia served the stir-fried dish onto a plate, she said.
"I've done a surgery like this before in Country A, and I'm about 70-80% confident!"
After realizing what she had said, she looked at Charles in surprise.
Patricia asked, "Why are you suddenly asking this? What happened?"
Charles continued, "While Bobby has coronary heart disease, the diameter of his distal coronary artery is less than 1mm. Because of this, the surgery has been postponed until now."
Upon hearing this, Patricia was stunned.
Charles noticed his mother's silence and asked, "Does Debbie have such capability to perform this type of surgery?"
Patricia shook her head and honestly replied, "I don't know if she can or cannot, but among the doctors I know, only a fifty-year-old professor dares to take on such a surgery."
Charles laughed, but his smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Debbie is gambling with Bobby's life! If the surgery fails, Bobby will be in danger. If it succeeds, she will not only establish herself firmly in Ivara City Hospital but also make a name for herself in the medical field. Her calculations are quite accurate."
Patricia wondered, "How do you know so much?"
Charles dismissively said, "I just did a casual search online! It's not a secret."
Patricia fell into silence. She looked at Charles, somewhat amazed at the life she had created.
"I really want to see the disastrous outcome if Debbie fails in the surgery. The Thomas family won't let her go, and she'll be done for," Charles happily left the kitchen.
Hearing his words, Patricia's feelings were indescribable.
Driven by her professional ethics as a doctor, Patricia couldn't help but find Debbie the next day at work and confront her directly.
"Debbie, do you know that Bobby's condition is not suitable for surgery? It's incredibly selfish of you to disregard his safety for your own sake."
Her voice attracted the attention of their colleagues. Everyone turned their gaze towards them.
Debbie was so angry that her face turned red. She pulled Patricia into the stairwell.
"Patricia, what do you mean? Are you jealous that I'm back and afraid I'll steal your limelight, so you deliberately want to smear me in front of everyone?" Debbie reprimanded.
Patricia couldn't help but laugh at her anger.
"Nonsense! Not everyone is like you, willing to do anything to achieve their goals! Coronary heart disease is more common in people over forty, but Bobby is only six years old. His case is already exceptional in the medical field.”
Patricia continued to reason with Debbie.
“Besides, the diameter of his distal coronary artery is less than 1mm. Do you know that in such a condition, surgery is not an option?"
Debbie crossed her arms and disdainfully replied, "That's because you're not capable enough."
Patricia was so angry that her face turned red.
"Only a few professors worldwide can perform this surgery, and you've never done it before. You're just using Bobby as practice, as an experiment. Debbie, you will kill him."
Debbie was left speechless by Patricia's rebuke and angrily responded.
"What business is this of yours, Patricia? Oh, let me guess, you want to tell me that I can't do this surgery, but you can?"
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a loud bang. Both of them paused, holding their breath, and turned to look at the sound.
They saw someone standing at the entrance.
In the distance, the people's expressions changed drastically.
