Chapter 1195 When Did You Collude Together?

Feeling Carter's intense stare, the woman quickly covered her face with her hands, trying to turn away.

Carter lunged forward and yanked off her mask.

The woman yelped in pain, clutching her face and keeping her head down.

"Don't bother hiding, I saw you! Harper." Carter spat out the last words through gritted teeth.

Hearing his words, everyone present was stunned.

They had considered countless suspects, but never Harper.

Harper had always kept a low profile over the years.

When Violet was just born, Harper frequently visited the Moore Mansion, trying every trick to get close to Carter.

It was obvious to everyone what she was after.

Carter was no exception.

So, when Harper once again insulted Lassie in front of Carter, calling her names and slandering her, Carter finally lost his temper. In front of everyone, he gave her a harsh scolding, showing no mercy.

He made it clear to her and everyone else that he would never be interested in Harper. Even if every woman in the world disappeared, he would never like her.

His wife would only ever be Lassie.

That incident left Harper utterly humiliated.

Since then, Harper had stopped pestering Carter. The Moore family maintained a superficial peace with the Bennett family, with minimal interaction outside of necessary business dealings.

Harper gradually faded from everyone's memory.

So, when they learned that Austin had an accomplice, they considered many people, including rivals from the Langley, Moore, and Parker families, but never suspected Harper.

Seeing that Carter had recognized her, Harper stopped hiding, lowered her hands, and turned to face everyone boldly.

At that moment, Austin finally realized her true identity. "All these years, it was you helping me and my mother?"

Harper shot him a glare, ignoring his question, and walked over to Carter, reaching out to grab his sleeve, but Carter dodged her.

Her hand hung awkwardly in mid-air.

Carter looked at her coldly and demanded, "Why did you do this? Violet is your sister's daughter. Why did you keep teaming up with outsiders to harm her?"

Harper, fearing Carter's disgust if he knew the truth, denied it with teary eyes. "It wasn't me. I didn't do anything."

Carter looked at her with deep disappointment. "We've caught you red-handed, and you still won't admit it? Do you think I'm a fool?"

Terrified, Harper grasped at straws. "No, Austin suddenly asked me to meet him. I didn't know why! He's framing me. I don't know anything! Carter, you know me. How could I do something like this?"

Carter sneered, "I don't know you. We're not close."

Harper's face turned deathly pale.

She seemed deeply shaken, stumbling back a few steps. "I've loved you for over twenty years, and you say something like that to hurt me? For all these years, my heart has only had room for you. My parents introduced me to so many good men, but I didn't care for any of them, waiting to marry you. Don't you understand my feelings at all?"

Carter smirked, "There are thousands of women in Sunset Bay who like me! Why should I care about your feelings just because you like me? Harper, you're too self-centered! Who do you think you are? If you weren't Lassie's sister, I wouldn't even talk to you!"

His ruthless words pierced Harper's heart, making her feel dizzy.

Carter continued, "If you had just been the Bennett family's heiress, even if the Bennett family mistreated Lassie, our families could have coexisted peacefully. But you crossed the line by hurting my daughter! I will never forgive anyone who harms my daughter!"

Thinking of Carter's methods, Harper shivered, feeling pain all over her body even though nothing had happened yet. "I didn't do it. It wasn't me. I told you, I didn't do anything."

Charles sneered, "Still denying it?"

He paused, then coldly said, "But it doesn't matter! Whether you admit it or not is irrelevant to us!"

With that, he waved his hand.

The bodyguards swarmed in, pinning Harper to the ground. "Take her to the Sunshine Manor's underground cellar!"

Harper struggled desperately. "It wasn't me, really! Charles, you're wrong! Carter, save me, I didn't do anything. I'm innocent, you can't do this to me!"

Charles frowned impatiently. "Take her away! If she keeps making noise, knock her out."

The bodyguards obeyed, and one of them delivered a chop to her neck.

Harper was knocked out and carried away.

On the rooftop, only Austin and Tina remained.

Austin seemed to be in shock from Tina's betrayal, staring at her as if he had never known her, his eyes full of disappointment.

He had never looked at her like that before.

Tina's chest ached.

With teary eyes, she trembled as she explained, "Austin, you've made too many mistakes already. You can't keep going down this path! Violet doesn't love you. Even if you force her to stay, you won't be happy. She'll always try to escape from you! Do you really want to hide in that remote corner for the rest of your life, never coming out? You're so smart. Your life shouldn't be like this! There's a whole world out there for you to explore. Why give up everything for one woman?"

Despite her words, Austin didn't listen.

He had only one thought in his mind.

Tina had betrayed him.

"When did it start?" Austin asked.

Tina was taken aback. "What?"

Austin repeated impatiently, "When did you start working with Charles? Or were you with him from the beginning? Have you been playing me this whole time? And I was just a fool, dancing to your tune."

Fearing his misunderstanding, Tina hurriedly denied it. "No! From the beginning, I only wanted to help you. But seeing you make so many mistakes for Violet, I didn't want you to ruin your life, so I agreed to work with him! He promised me that if I helped him find the mastermind, he would let you go, and all your past mistakes would be forgiven."

Austin stubbornly asked again, "I need to know, when did it start?"
