Chapter 1164 Letting Austin Go
Hannah felt a chill run down her spine, a sense of foreboding washing over her.
Her intuition was quickly confirmed.
"Violet... Violet." The horrible voice came from the phone.
Hannah's eyes narrowed, suppressing the irritation rising from the laughter. She demanded, "Who are you? Why do you have Oliver's phone?"
"Why? You idiot, of course, it's because he's with me now!"
Hannah's face darkened. "What have you done to him? Who are you? Why are you doing this? Where are you? I warn you, don't hurt him, or you'll regret it."
The person on the other end replied, "If you don't want him to get hurt, agree to my demand! Otherwise, I can't promise I won't accidentally kill him."
Hannah's heart pounded with anxiety, her eyes reddening. "Okay, just don't hurt him. I'll do whatever you want."
The person on the other end said, "Send Austin to the place I specify and give him some money. Once I confirm he's safe, I'll release Oliver."
"Austin?" Hannah was taken aback. She hadn't expected this to be about Austin.
What was her connection to Austin? An enemy? A friend?
The person on the other end seemed to think she wouldn't agree, and soon Oliver's screams filled the phone.
"Ah! Hannah, don't agree to her demands! She can use me to threaten you today, and she'll do it again in the future. If you don't agree, she can't threaten you! Let her kill me if she dares! Then let Charles avenge me." Oliver's voice was loud and clear.
Suddenly, there was silence, followed by more screams.
Hearing the screams, Hannah's heart twisted in agony. "Stop! I agree! I'll do whatever you want! Just don't hurt Oliver."
"You're forcing me to act!" The person on the other end laughed again, then gave Hannah an address. "You and Charles personally deliver him to the place I specify! No trackers, no police, no surveillance! If I find out you disobey, I'll kill Oliver."
Hannah, desperate, agreed quickly. "Okay, okay, I promise!"
"I'll be waiting for your good news! If you complete my task quickly, Oliver will suffer less. If Austin isn't delivered within three days, I'll cut off one of Oliver's fingers. Four days, and I'll cut off two."
Hannah calculated quickly.
From Country D to Sunset Bay, it would take thirteen hours.
From Sunset Bay to the specified location, another ten hours.
A total of twenty-three hours.
They had three days.
It should be doable.
"Okay, I agree! But you can't harm Oliver during these three days, or I'll kill Austin and take you down with me."
The person on the other end seemed unfazed. "Doesn't matter! If you kill Austin, I'll kill Oliver."
"You..." Hannah gritted her teeth in frustration.
After a moment, she conceded, "Fine! I'll deliver Austin to the specified location on time."
She still didn't know who the person was.
Worrying they would really hurt Oliver, she had no choice but to agree.
She couldn't risk Oliver's safety.
After her assurance, the person hung up without another word.
Charles had been silently listening the whole time.
Seeing her hang up, he asked, "Oliver's been kidnapped?"
Hannah nodded, her face pale with fear. "Yes! They want me to send Austin away! Charles, we need to hurry back. They said if Austin isn't delivered within three days, they'll cut off one of Oliver's fingers."
Growing more agitated, she grabbed Charles's arm, shaking it. "Charles, we need to board the plane, quickly."
Charles pulled her into his arms, soothing her. "Don't worry, we have enough time. I'll get you on the plane now."
"Okay." Hannah gradually calmed down.
Charles lifted her from the car, placed her in a wheelchair, and pushed her into the airport.
Once on the private plane, as it took off, Charles began to ask questions. "What happened? Oliver should be at school now. How did he end up with her?"
Hannah shook her head repeatedly, and her tears streamed down her face. "I don't know! I just know she hurt Oliver, and he was in a lot of pain!"
Charles held her close, speaking softly. "Don't cry. Tell me exactly what she said."
Hannah sniffled, then recounted the entire conversation to Charles, including the location where Austin was to be delivered.
After finishing, she grabbed Charles's arm, looking up at him anxiously. "Charles, who is she? What does she want? Is she trying to save Austin, or does she have another motive? Will she hurt Oliver?"
Charles frowned. "You said it was a woman?"
Hannah nodded. "Even though she altered her voice, making it higher-pitched, I could tell it was a woman."
Charles fell into deep thought.
After a while, he said slowly, "Austin was found by Carter at the Moore Mansion's gate years ago. Carter checked the surveillance and saw a woman in tattered clothes deliberately leaving him there.
If the caller was a woman, could she be Austin's biological mother, Karen?"
"What?" Hannah was stunned. "That can't be! Wasn't she in rags? She must have been poor to abandon him.
If she were really that poor, how could she have the means to kidnap Oliver? And she was meticulous, warning me not to put a tracker on Austin.
She seemed experienced. Could an ordinary poor woman have such skills?"
Charles's face was grim. "It's hard to say right now. Don't worry, we'll find a solution. Let's get back first. More people, more ideas."
Hannah knew that worrying wouldn't help.
The priority was to find a way to save Oliver without releasing Austin.
All their troubles stemmed from Austin.
After finally locking him up, releasing him would be a huge risk.
No one didn't know what he might do next.
So, Austin couldn't be released.
But, how could they save Oliver without releasing him?
