Chapter 900 Charles, Goodbye

After they hit the airport, Maximilian, knowing Charles' situation, snagged a VIP lounge for them.

Maximilian, still on edge, said, "Hey, make sure you call me when you get home, alright? Let me know you made it safe. If you need anything, just holler. I know you guys got this, but I still wanna help out."

Patricia got all teary-eyed.

They were just cousins, not even blood-related, but Maximilian always had her back. Anytime she was in a jam, he was there, no questions asked.

She never forgot that.

Patricia said, "Don't say that. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have gotten away from the Hill Family so easily. And if you hadn't found the best doc, Charles wouldn't be doing so well! I know you care about me! I remember."

Maximilian gave her shoulder a light pat, "Don't be silly. You're my cousin; of course, I'm gonna look out for you! I just feel like I haven't done enough."

Given his situation, he had no shot at inheriting Nexus Holdings Corporation.

The real heir was Patricia. She gave up her inheritance rights, letting him get to where he was now. Without her, he'd be nothing. He never forgot that either.

Patricia wiped her eyes, choking up, "Please take care of my dad! He doesn't know about Charles yet. If he comes to Sunset Bay, let me know first. I don't want him finding out about Charles out of the blue."

Maximilian nodded, "Got it!"

After saying goodbye to Maximilian, Patricia turned to Randy and said earnestly, "Randy, I'm gonna need your help for a bit! Thanks for putting your work on hold for Charles."

Randy replied, a bit annoyed, "What are you talking about! He's my brother. If something happens to him, of course, I'm gonna help. Plus, I'm on vacation, so it's not messing with my work."

When his vacation ended, he could cut back on his performance schedule.

One month, three months, or work one in every six months.

That way, he could handle Charles' company without ditching his career.

Charles busted his butt to get where he was, and Randy had to protect that.

Patricia felt really grateful.

Other families would tear each other apart over money and inheritance.

But their kids loved each other and never let money get in the way.

Patricia added, "Your brother's company is in your hands for now! We've already talked to Wyatt. If you have any questions, ask him. He's loyal to your brother and trustworthy! If he doesn't know, or if there are some big decisions, you can also ask your uncle and dad. They might not be in this industry, but a lot of the principles are the same."

Randy nodded, "Got it! I haven't run a company before, but I've heard Charles talk about it a lot, so I know a bit."

He wasn't into running a company, but that didn't mean he couldn't. He just loved the piano more.

Patricia ruffled Randy's hair affectionately, "Good boy!"

He'd just gone through a breakup and now had to take on such a big responsibility. It was tough for him.

After talking to Randy, Patricia walked over to Hannah.

Since they got there, Hannah had been quietly staying by Charles' side, holding his hand tight.

Since leaving the hospital, she hadn't said a word.

Her face and eyes were full of reluctance and heartache for Charles, and the sadness for separation.

Patricia put her hand affectionately on Hannah's shoulder and said hoarsely, "I know your feelings for Charles, and I know that separating you now is very cruel."

She paused, her throat moving, and continued, "But we have no choice! We can't stay here forever! We can't leave Charles here alone; we wouldn't be at ease. We can only take him back. If you miss him, you can come to Sunset Bay to see him. We would be very happy to have you. Or, Martin can find a way to transfer you to Sunset Bay University. That way, you can see him whenever you have time."

Hannah refused her proposal without hesitation, "No need! I really like the university I'm attending now, and I really like my current major! I don't want to leave here."

She didn't have the courage to go to a foreign country for love. Besides, in what identity would she go?

From beginning to end, they hadn't confirmed their relationship.

If she were his girlfriend, she could rightfully stay by his side. But she wasn't! They had no relationship at all.

No matter how much she liked him, no matter how much she wanted to be with him, she knew it wasn't appropriate for now.

Patricia knew what she was thinking.

As a woman, how could she not understand her thoughts!

Patricia comforted, "Actually, Charles likes you. We all know that! You also like Charles, but you just haven't taken that final step to confirm your relationship. If you want, I can help you get engaged."

She choked up.

She continued, "But he still doesn't know if he can wake up. Being with him would hold you back."

As she spoke, she started to cry.

Martin walked over, held her in his arms, gently patted her back, and said, "Hannah, you're always welcome to come see Charles."

Given Charles' current condition, confirming their relationship would only harm Hannah!

They couldn't do such a bad thing.

Hannah nodded, "I will! I'll come see him when I have time."

Martin took Patricia aside, giving Hannah and Charles some space to talk alone.

Randy also consciously took Stella aside.

Hannah stood by the hospital bed, looking at the sleeping Charles, reached out to hold his hand, and said hoarsely, "I'll always wait for you. You must wake up soon! Don't make me wait too long, or I'll get angry and won't want you anymore."

Charles didn't respond.

Hannah's chest ached, and her voice choked up, "You must wake up."

Time passed quickly, and it was soon time to board the plane.

To avoid unnecessary attention, Martin took Charles through a special passage.

Maximilian, Randy, Hannah, and Stella escorted them to the gate, waving all the way.

Watching them gradually disappear, everyone had tears in their eyes.

After leaving the airport, Hannah was reluctant to leave. She stood in the parking lot next to the airport, looking up at the sky, as if she could see Charles there.

After a while, a private jet appeared in her sight.

It was the private jet Martin and Patricia had taken.

Randy, Maximilian, and Stella all looked up at the private jet. Although they knew they couldn't see them, they still raised their hands, waving goodbye to the people on the plane.

Hannah also raised her hand, waving and crying.

Charles, goodbye.

You must get better soon.

I'll always wait for you.

You must come back.
