Chapter 914 Charles Was Very Happy
Stella and Randy were crouched behind a flowerbed, not too far off, watching the two lovebirds hug it out again. They almost lost it, they were so stoked.
Stella grabbed Randy's collar, practically bouncing, "Are they, like, officially a thing now?"
Randy, gasping for air from her grip, started peeling her fingers off, "Chill out!"
Stella tried to keep her voice down, not wanting to mess up the sweet moment between Hannah and Charles. But she was so hyped, her voice came out all squeaky.
Stella squealed, "How can I not be excited? I'm, like, super excited! They've been through so much, and now they're finally together. I'm, like, over the moon!"
Randy couldn't help but grin, her excitement rubbing off on him, "Yeah, finally! They're together."
Their trip all the way from the capital of Country D was totally worth it.
Stella's eyes were glued to Hannah and Charles, practically sparkling with excitement.
Randy, worried she'd blow their cover, covered her eyes with one hand and hooked her neck with the other, dragging her away.
Stella whined, "What are you doing! I haven't seen enough yet!"
Randy, trying to be patient, said, "That's enough! We've done our part. Let's wait for them outside! If anything happens, Charles will hit me up."
Stella pouted, "No, I still wanna watch."
Randy didn't give her a chance to argue and just dragged her away.
The cane in Stella's hand scraped along the ground, making a noise.
Meanwhile, after holding Hannah for a bit, Charles slowly let her go, looking into her tear-filled eyes. He cupped her face and kissed her eyes gently.
As he kissed her, Hannah instinctively closed her eyes.
She only opened them after he pulled away.
They shared a smile.
Then he kissed her forehead, her eyebrows, her nose, her cheeks, and finally, he landed on her lips.
This kiss was nothing like the last gentle peck; it was intense. Charles kissed Hannah deeply.
He was forceful, his tongue exploring her lips and teeth, sucking on her tongue, totally dominant but super gentle.
Hannah clung to his shoulders, her head spinning. Everything around her faded away, and all she could focus on was Charles.
The kiss was hot and intense.
She felt like she was in a warm flower field, a gentle breeze brushing her cheeks, carrying a fresh scent.
Hannah was so lost in the kiss, she lost track of time.
Then, a soft laugh echoed in her ear.
Charles asked gently, "Don't you know how to breathe?"
Hannah blinked her watery eyes at him, her brain still in a fog.
Seeing her dazed look, Charles felt a rush of affection, "You need to learn to breathe while kissing. Do you want to pass out?"
This time Hannah got it. She realized she had almost blacked out from lack of oxygen. Her face turned as red as a boiled lobster.
She was probably the first person to almost pass out from kissing.
It was super embarrassing.
"I don't know how!" She said, wishing she could just disappear.
Charles was surprised, "You never kissed Austin?"
Even though bringing up Austin right now was a bit of a mood killer.
But Hannah's words were really easy to misinterpret.
Hannah lowered her head and mumbled, "We..."
She didn't know how to explain. After gathering her thoughts, she continued, "He respected me!"
So, basically, Austin never got close to her.
Before Charles came along, she had no clue kissing could be so awesome.
She used to think it was gross and kinda creepy.
Just imagining two people’s tongues all tangled up gave her the heebie-jeebies.
But now? Kissing wasn’t just not gross; it was pure bliss, and she never wanted it to stop.
Charles got it, his eyes going wide in shock before he was hit with a wave of pure joy.
So, she and Austin were just engaged, no funny business?
And that night, Austin stayed over at her place for hours, and nothing happened? He was so bummed he had to go home to chill out.
Charles suddenly burst out laughing, thinking about how dumb he’d been.
His laugh was loud and super satisfying.
Hannah looked up at him, totally confused by his laughter.
Charles was so happy he couldn’t help but hold her face, kissing her all over, like he couldn’t get enough.
Even though he didn’t really care about that stuff.
But knowing Hannah had always been just his made him insanely happy. He was so happy he wanted to pick her up and spin her around.
His lips were cool, and it felt amazing when they touched her skin.
Hannah laughed as he kissed her.
It was the happiest, most genuine laugh she’d had in forever.
It felt like she hadn’t been this happy in ages.
After he’d kissed her enough, Charles pulled Hannah to sit beside him, hugging her tight, breathing in her scent, feeling more at peace than ever.
Hannah suddenly remembered something and pulled away, puzzled, "How did you know I was here?"
After bolting from City Hall, she had no idea where to go, so she ended up at this park.
Every time Lisa beat or scolded her, she’d come here to chill. Over time, it became her safe spot.
Charles hugged her again, "Stella told me!"
Hannah was still puzzled.
Charles explained, "Stella was gonna call you and tell you I woke up and we were at City Hall. But you hung up, and when we called back, your phone was off! We couldn’t reach you and freaked out, thinking you might actually marry Austin, so we hopped on a train to get here."
Hannah blinked, listening.
Charles went on, "We got there late. When we arrived at City Hall, it was almost closing time. Stella looked around and found Austin."
Hannah was confused.
Austin hadn’t left?
Had he stayed at City Hall the whole time?
If so, she’d really hurt him bad.
The guilt and self-blame in her heart grew even stronger.
Charles skipped over Austin’s heartbreak and kept going, "He told us you bailed at the last second before signing and ran off. He couldn’t reach you and had no clue where you went. Stella freaked out, and we searched everywhere. Then she remembered you always talked about this park, so we guessed you might be here!"
As soon as he walked into the park, he saw Hannah sitting on the swing, lost in thought.
Only God knew how heartbroken he was at that moment.
It was the first time he felt so powerless, not being able to be there for the woman he loved when she needed him most.
