Chapter 1009 Engagement

Hannah and Charles returned home with their hands full.

The house was pitch dark.

Hannah was fumbling to turn on the light when suddenly there was a loud bang, and colorful streamers shot up into the air and slowly drifted down.

Hannah was so startled by the sudden noise that she screamed, dropping everything in her hands.

The switch clicked, and the room was instantly brightly lit.

Charles still had his hand on the switch, looking at the people around them holding party poppers with excitement. His temples throbbed, and he gritted his teeth. "What are you all doing?"

Were they staying up late just to scare Hannah?

Patricia excitedly pulled Charles aside. "Charles, I heard from Stella that you're proposing tonight! So, Fannie and I gathered the whole family to celebrate with you! How about it? Surprised? Happy?"

"No surprise. Just shock!" Charles shot a murderous look at Stella.

Stella instantly felt a chill down her spine and quickly hid behind Randy, showing only half her head. She said aggrievedly, "They didn't see you guys! They forced me; there were too many people, and I couldn't resist."

Patricia turned Charles's head to face her. "Why are you blaming Stella? This is good news. Honestly, why didn't you ask me about this? Stella isn't married; why would you ask her?"

Charles's mouth twitched. "As if you've ever been proposed to."

Martin and Patricia both looked very embarrassed.

Martin cleared his throat and said innocently, "Charles, I have no grudge against you. You can't blame this on me."

Fearing that the topic would shift to Martin and Patricia and that Martin wouldn't be able to walk tomorrow, Randy quickly said, "Stella is Hannah's friend. She knows Hannah's preferences, so it's best to ask her."

Stella nodded. "Exactly!"

Patricia glared at Martin and Martin innocently shrank his neck.

Charles gave them a speechless look. They were all so old but still flirting and bickering. Who were they trying to provoke?

Charles said, "Hannah and I are getting engaged in five days. Before the engagement, you should formally meet Hannah's parents to discuss the engagement details."

This was undoubtedly big news.

Patricia rubbed her hands excitedly. "Alright! Are we going there for the engagement, or is it here? Leave the arrangements to me."

Charles took Hannah's hand and walked towards the sofa.

As he walked, he said, "All the Langley family's friends and relatives are here, so let's have the engagement at Sunset Bay. I'll find a way to bring Hannah's parents over."

Patricia followed behind, already planning the engagement party. "Alright. Just tell me when they'll arrive at Sunset Bay, and I'll book the hotel. We also need to bring your uncles over. They haven't started work yet, so they can come a few days early and enjoy themselves. There are only five days left! We need to start preparing tomorrow! I'll start shopping and decorating the venue tomorrow. The Langley family's eldest son's engagement must be grand and lively."

Fannie couldn't help but roll her eyes. "I remember you said the same thing at Randy's engagement!"

After saying that, she deliberately pinched her voice and mimicked Patricia, "This is the Langley family's first engagement party; it must be grand and lively."

As soon as she finished speaking, Fannie realized she had misspoken and wished she could slap herself.

The lively atmosphere around them cooled down, and everyone looked at Randy.

They thought Randy would be heartbroken, but he just gave a bitter smile and quickly returned to normal, speaking lightly as if nothing had happened, "Charles and I are different! Charles and Hannah will definitely be together forever."

Stella patted his shoulder in comfort. "Don't worry. You'll also find someone to be with forever."

Charles gave Randy a deep look and found that Randy wasn't as sad as he had imagined, so he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Charles said, "Alright, it's late. Hannah and I are going to rest! You should go to bed early too! You'll be too busy to sleep in the coming days."

After saying that, he went upstairs without looking back.

And indeed, that was the case.

The engagement was so rushed and everything needed to be prepared in the next few days, so Patricia was almost constantly busy.

Given the Langley family's large business and the many guests to invite, they printed many invitations and had to repeatedly check them to avoid missing anyone.

Fortunately, Maximilian and Carol were in Sunset Bay and helped a lot.

Quentin and Lisa arrived in Sunset Bay with Oliver three days later.

Charles and Hannah personally drove to the airport to pick them up.

After not seeing them for a while, Quentin and Lisa seemed like different people, dressed in flashy clothes and looking very wealthy.

They were afraid people wouldn't know they were rich.

Lisa wore a thick gold chain around her neck and large gemstone rings on her hands. She was dressed in a fur coat, looking like a walking bear.

Even Oliver was dressed in designer clothes.

Seeing them from a distance, Hannah was in disbelief. She rubbed her eyes. Realizing she wasn't mistaken, she almost turned around and left.

Hannah asked, "Dad, Mom, what are you doing? Why are you dressed like this?"

Quentin and Lisa didn't think there was anything wrong with their attire; instead, they were very proud. "Our family is rich now, so what's wrong with dressing well? You have no idea how those neighbors who used to look down on us are now fawning over us. They flatter me every day. I never thought I'd have my day in the sun."

Hannah's brow twitched, feeling extremely embarrassed. She looked to Charles for help.

Charles, however, remained calm and smiled. "You must be tired from the long journey. Let me take you to the hotel to rest first, and later I'll take you shopping for clothes."

Hearing that he would take them shopping, Lisa no longer felt tired and quickly shook her head. "Not tired at all; we slept the whole way! Are you taking us shopping? Let's go now!"

Hannah knew exactly what Lisa was thinking.

Oliver, who hadn't seen Hannah in a long time, happily ran over and took her hand. "Hannah, this is my first time on a private jet! It was so luxurious, all real leather! What does Charles's family do? How do they have a private jet? They're so rich."

In the whole family, Oliver was the only one who genuinely cared for Hannah, so her attitude was much better.

Hannah replied, "They're in business."

Oliver sneaked a glance at Charles, becoming more and more satisfied with him.

Oliver said, "I heard from Mom and Dad that Charles is the CEO of IntelliMerge Technologies Company. Is that true?"

IntelliMerge Technologies Company was the company he aspired to work for.

He had been studying hard to get into a good college and then work at IntelliMerge Technologies Company.

He never dreamed that the CEO of IntelliMerge Technologies Company would become his brother-in-law.

Hannah didn't answer his question and instead advised, "Don't think about such things. Your job now is to study."

Knowing that Hannah didn't want to talk about it, Oliver, who always listened to her, didn't continue the topic.
