Chapter 510The Absurd Blind Date Guy

In a restaurant across from Ivara City Hospital.

Eva sat by the window, watching the middle-aged man across her who sported a beer belly, wore thick-rimmed glasses, and was nearly bald. She sipped her lemon water through a straw, trying to settle her churning stomach with its sourness.

"I'm thirty-five years old, and I hope we can get married quickly!"

Eva pursed her lips. Only thirty-five, huh? Someone might guess fifty-three!

"I earn a yearly salary of half a hundred thousand, and I'm considered white-collar here in Ivara City! After we get married, I hope you'll stop working and focus on taking care of the home and educating our children. A nurse – how much can you really earn? We won't need your salary."

Eva was speechless. Fifty thousand? You'd think he meant five hundred thousand.

"I'm the only man in my family, pure lineage for three generations! I'm definitely going to have a son. Of course, having two or three sons would be even better."

Eva was speechless again. Could fifty thousand raise three sons in this city?

"And another thing! My parents are getting on in years, and they didn't have it easy raising me! I hope you can take care of the kids and also take good care of my parents, showing them respect and kindness."

Eva was speechless yet again.

After making a series of shocking and presumptuous demands, the man rudely sized up Eva from head to toe.

"I heard from Kiki that you're five-five?" he inquired.

Eva corrected him. "Five-six, actually. With heels, I'm five-eight."

The man dismissed with a wave of his hand, "Five-five, five-six, what's really the difference? Me! I'm five-eight..."

Eva was about to console him, to say that although he was on the shorter side, it didn't matter for men, that there was no need for an inferiority complex. However, before she could voice her thoughts, his next words nearly made her spit out her lemonade.

"Even though you're a lot shorter than me, I don't mind! To make sure our kids don't inherit your short genes, we'll have to supplement their diet and encourage growth with proper exercise."

Eva was speechless.

"You don't earn much, you look average, and you're not tall! My parents might not approve, so when I take you to meet them, you’ll need to impress them. My mother loves pearls; you could buy her a pearl bracelet. As for my father..."

Eva couldn't listen anymore. She put out her hand to stop him from continuing. "You've critiqued me from head to toe. May I ask what you bring to the table?"

Where on earth did Kiki dredge up this bizarre specimen? He was like the epitome of delusional.

"I make a yearly salary of fifty thousand..." he started bragging.

Eva cut him off. "So, you earn five hundred thousand a year? What else? A car? A house? If we end up having two or three kids, a small house won't cut it; we'd need at least four bedrooms and two baths!"

The man looked at her disappointedly. "I didn't expect you to be so materialistic. I misjudged you."

Eva laughed. "I’m sorry for not meeting your expectations. Please, see yourself out."

The man's eyes, small and greedy, narrowed into slits as he stared at her face. "I may not have a house yet, but I'm still young; I can strive, and one day, I'll buy one."

Eva chuckled. "Are you thirty-five? A truly capable and successful man would've made his mark and reached the pinnacle by thirty. My good friend's husband is twenty-eight and runs branches globally, his net worth in the billions. His friends, too, one twenty-five, the other twenty-seven, both worth billions."

The man's plump face turned shades of red and pale, his jowls quivering.

Eva slapped several hundred-dollar bills on the table, "I'm sorry, but we're not a match. This meal is on me."

With that, she stood up to leave She feared that if she stayed even one second longer, she might throw up.

As she tried to pass the man, her wrist was caught.

"You think you can just cheat my feelings and stroll away?"

Eva almost laughed out loud at his audacity. "Big guy, or should I say, old guy... We just met for the first time. How could I have cheated your feelings?"

The man stood up, and as they were side by side, Eva realized he was at least half a head shorter than her. No way was he five foot eight. He might not even be five foot three.

Broke and lacking looks, where did he get such brazen confidence from? 'No wonder he's still single at thirty-five. He deserves it.'

He wouldn't let go of her wrist. "I don’t care. You’ve hurt me, and you need to make it right."

Eva didn't want to tangle with him. She said generously, "Fine, name your price. I may be just a nurse, but I can spare some change."

His audacity knew no bounds as he replied, "I don't want your money; spend a night with me."

"What?" Eva thought she had misheard. "What did you just say?"

He deliberately rubbed his fingers on her skin as he gripped her wrist. The greasy touch sent a surge of anger through her, nearly losing control and lashing out.

"Ugh..." Eva spat directly in his face, foregoing all pretense of decorum as she exploded, "Take a good look at yourself! It's not scary for a man to be ugly, nor to be poor, but an ugly, poor man with an inflated ego is disgusting. Let go of me now, or I'll scream."

The man trembled with rage, his flabby body quivering as if it might shake off at any moment. He raised his hand to strike her.

Just then, Eva saw Riley entering through the door and yelled, "Riley!"

Riley paused, his deep-set eyes narrowing as he searched for the source of the cry, taking a moment to recognize Eva.

Eva saw Riley as though he was her savior, breaking free from the man's grip. Perhaps startled by her shout, the man let go with little resistance.

Eva ran to Riley and flashed a sweet smile, revealing her dimples.

"Riley, you came for me!" she said, all the while giving Riley a covert wink.

Riley didn’t utter a word.

Eva didn't wait for his reaction; she looped her arm through his, facing the man squarely, "See? He's my boyfriend. If you dare touch me again, he won't let you off the hook."

The man was clearly skeptical, eyeing Riley with suspicion.

"Bullshit. If he's really your boyfriend, why the hell are you out here on a blind date? The matchmaker explicitly mentioned you were single. Did you think dragging some random guy here and calling him your boyfriend would fool me?"
