Chapter 766 All's Well That Ends Well
Martin was getting more and more anxious as Patricia stayed missing. He rushed to find her and finally saw her standing there, staring blankly at a piece of paper. He couldn't help but peek over her shoulder.
"Hunter's gone?" Martin asked.
Patricia nodded, tears streaming down her face, "Yeah, he's gone! He remembered everything. It all came back to him."
Martin sighed, "The Miller family has been through so much. With his only brother dead, he must be struggling to accept it all. He needs time."
Patricia turned to Martin, worry etched on her face, "But he just recovered. He has no money, no job. Where could he go? It's snowing heavily outside. What if something happens to him? Martin, can you send someone to find him? I'm really worried."
Martin gently cupped her face, wiping away her tears, "If he left, it means he doesn't want us to find him. Don't worry. He's a grown man. He can take care of himself."
"But..." Patricia still couldn't rest easy.
Martin smiled, "If he chose to leave secretly at night, it means he doesn't want us to look for him. Give him some time to think things through. He'll come back when he's ready. We shouldn't pressure him. We should give him space."
Patricia asked anxiously, "Will he really figure it out? What if he doesn't?"
Martin gently ruffled her hair, "You have to trust him! Give him some time!"
Hearing this, Patricia, though still worried, didn't insist on searching for Hunter.
Martin continued, "He's a normal person now, with his own thoughts. We should respect that, not interfere."
Patricia saw the sense in his words and said no more. She put away the note and walked out the door, looking lost.
Patricia asked, "When do you think he recovered?"
She pondered for a long time but couldn't figure it out. Nothing had seemed amiss!
Martin smirked, "It must have been at the Hill family!"
Though it was a guess, his tone was confident.
Patricia was surprised, "He recovered at the Hill family?"
Martin nodded, "Yes, I believe so! When we went to find him, he must have already recovered. So, he heard everything we said to Joe."
In other words, Hunter knew about all the bad things Gabriel had done.
Perhaps it was precisely because of this that he couldn't accept it and needed time to accept it.
Patricia lowered her head in shame, "I feel like such a failure, not even realizing he had recovered."
Martin pulled her into his arms, gently ruffling her hair, "You don't need to blame yourself. I didn't notice either! None of us did!"
Martin said, "Alright, stop dwelling on it! Christmas is coming up, and you need to start preparing for it!"
At the mention of Christmas, Patricia's eyes lit up.
Patricia said, "This will be the first Christmas our family of seven spends together! We should bring grandpa and grandma here to join the celebration!"
Martin's eyes crinkled with a smile as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "Whatever you want! Everything is up to you!"
As Patricia and Martin walked hand in hand downstairs, Charles, Randy, Declan, Maria, and Fannie, who were eating in the dining room, stared in surprise as if they had seen aliens. They rubbed their eyes vigorously, and upon realizing they weren't mistaken, they immediately dropped their knives and forks and ran over excitedly.
"Daddy, Mommy, you're finally back!" Fannie and Randy ran over, each hugging one of Patricia's legs.
Maria wriggled out of Kaleb's arms and followed behind, but in her haste, she tripped and fell. She quickly got up and, imitating the others, hugged Patricia's leg.
Charles and Declan walked over slowly, their expressions identical, serious like little old men.
Charles asked, "Did you come back last night?"
Patricia smiled warmly, "Yeah, we came back late and didn't want to wake you. How do you feel seeing us back? Happy?"
Charles, feeling a bit aggrieved, rolled his eyes at her, "It's good you're back! You won't leave us again, will you?"
Patricia laughed, "No, even if we have to go out for work, we won't be gone for so long!"
Hearing this, Charles, though still serious, couldn't hide the smile in his eyes.
Patricia couldn't help but roll her eyes. Charles was clearly happy but tried to act all serious, even more so than Martin.
Kaleb walked over, concerned, "Is everything settled with Joe? He won't be causing you any more trouble, will he?"
Patricia nodded, "It should be fine now."
Kaleb finally breathed a sigh of relief. If Joe kept causing trouble, it would be a major headache, even if it wasn't life-threatening.
Fannie, hugging Patricia's leg, looked up excitedly, "Mommy, we're about to have our final exams! Randy is going to perform on the piano at the graduation ceremony! Can you and Daddy come to cheer him on? You have no idea how amazing Randy is. He's like the piano prince of our school! All the girls adore him and write him love letters!"
Patricia's eyes widened in surprise, "Really? Our Randy is that amazing?"
Randy blushed, "It's not like that! Fannie always exaggerates!"
Fannie pouted, dissatisfied, "I'm telling the truth! Randy has won so many awards! I love seeing him in his white suit, sitting at the piano. He's my idol. During the holidays, he's even going on tour with his teacher!"
Hearing this, Patricia was genuinely astonished. In just a few short months, Randy had achieved so much, and she, as his mother, had been completely unaware.
Patricia said, "On the day of the graduation ceremony, Martin and I will bring your siblings to cheer you on! I'm so proud of you, Randy. I have to show off a little!"
Randy nodded shyly.
Though he didn't express his emotions strongly, Patricia knew that deep down, Randy wanted them to witness his moment of glory.
Last time, she had missed his piano competition because of Martin's illness. This time, she wouldn't miss it.
Time passed quietly, and soon it was the day of the graduation ceremony.
Each child needed a parent to accompany them, and since Randy was performing, he was allowed an extra ticket.
Early on, Patricia and Martin, along with Maria and Declan, drove to the school.
The car left deep tracks in the pristine snow.
After their car had driven a short distance, a figure slowly emerged, standing at the entrance of Sunshine Manor. She looked up at the luxurious mansion, her hand slowly clenching into a fist.
The biting wind whipped at her tattered clothes, and her frostbitten skin, covered in goosebumps, looked chillingly ghastly.
