Chapter 1214 Painful Memories
Charles stumbled, almost falling, but managed to steady himself by grabbing the edge of the hospital bed just in time.
Hannah, who had seemed fine just moments ago, suddenly clutched her head, curling up in fear as she looked at Charles with terror in her eyes.
After a moment, she realized she had overreacted and quickly reached out to help Charles, her face full of panic. "Charles, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! Please don't be mad at me. I was just so scared, I pushed you away without thinking."
Charles noticed something was wrong and immediately guessed the issue. He smiled gently, took her by the arms, and spoke softly, "It's all in the past now. That happened when you were in middle school, and you're twenty-two now. It's been eight years! You were saved back then, and nothing happened. It's all over now. Don't be afraid. I'll always be here to protect you from now on. No one will ever hurt you again."
Hannah looked at Charles, trying to stay calm, but her eyes were still filled with fear, terror, and helplessness.
Charles thought she was still traumatized by the kidnapping and held her close, gently patting her back to comfort her. "It's over now. Everything's over."
Hannah's eyes filled with tears, and she began to cry. "Charles, they tried to take my clothes off. They touched my hands, my legs. I was so scared. I begged them to let me go, but they wouldn't listen."
Her voice trembled so much it seemed like it might break at any moment.
Charles was stunned, slowly releasing her and carefully holding her shoulders. "You said they tried to take your clothes off?"
Afraid of scaring her further, he kept his voice calm and steady.
Hannah nodded. "They tore my clothes to pieces!"
Charles' eyes reddened slightly, like a beast on the edge of madness. "Do you remember anything they said?"
Hannah knew it was all in the past and tried hard to calm herself, recalling the events of that night. "They said that woman told them to kill me."
"They also said, 'Boss, she's underage. You can't do this.'"
As she remembered, the fear, helplessness, and terror from that night came rushing back, overwhelming her.
She shook her head desperately, unwilling to remember.
But the memories kept flooding back uncontrollably.
She clutched her head in despair.
Seeing her like this, Charles' heart broke. He held her tightly, soothing her, "Don't think about it anymore. Hannah, believe me, it's all over! Those bad people have been punished! Let's forget it."
But Hannah seemed not to hear him, continuing to speak to herself. "They said I was going to die anyway, so they might as well have some fun with me first. They said they'd never had an underage girl before and wondered what it would be like."
Even though it had been so long, she remembered it all so clearly.
Their expressions and words felt like they had happened just yesterday.
Charles' pupils trembled.
Hannah had been only thirteen, not even fourteen.
Those bastards had wanted to do such things to a thirteen-year-old girl.
Hannah cried, "I wanted to scream for help, to beg for mercy, but my mouth was covered. I couldn't make a sound."
"They tore off my clothes and touched my thighs. I tried to crawl away, but they grabbed my ankles and pulled me back. I was so scared. I didn't know how to escape."
Charles, desperate to stop her from reliving the trauma, tried to calm her down. "Hannah, don't think about it. Please, just try to forget it. Let's get some sleep. When we wake up, it'll all be behind us."
But Hannah was lost in her memories, unable to hear him. "I wanted to die. I thought if I died, it would all be over. But they wouldn't let me die. They hit me, slapped me! It hurt so much. My mouth was full of blood. My head was bleeding, and everything I saw was red."
Realizing the severity of the situation, Charles quickly pulled out his phone and texted Patricia: [Bring Tina here, now!]
Patricia didn't ask any questions, just replied with one word: [Okay.]
Hannah's emotions swung wildly between agitation and calm, completely absorbed in her thoughts, ignoring everything Charles said, occasionally screaming out.
"Don't touch me."
"Stay away from me."
"Daddy, Mommy, Charles, come get me. I'm so scared."
"Ah. Stay away. Don't touch me."
Charles' heart ached terribly. If he had known it would be like this, he would have preferred she never remembered the past. Things had been fine as they were! That memory, though valuable, wasn't worth this pain. Now it was like this. It was clear how much the kidnapping had traumatized Hannah. It was all those bastards' fault for having such evil thoughts about a young girl.
Patricia arrived quickly, bringing Tina with her. Lassie, Carter, and Stella noticed something was wrong and wanted to come in, but Tina stopped them, saying it was better not to have too many people.
She approached the bed and asked Charles, "What's going on?"
Seeing her, Hannah reacted like a frightened rabbit, almost jumping up, clutching her head, her eyes darting around in panic. "Stay away, don't touch me. Everyone, stay away."
Patricia was also shocked by Hannah's condition, anxiously asking, "She was fine just now. What happened? Could it be that too much hypnosis had driven her insane?"
At that moment, Charles couldn't explain much. He just said, "Help Hannah calm down and get her to sleep, quickly."
Tina understood and didn't ask more. She snapped her fingers near Hannah's ear. "Sleep!"
At her command, Hannah's body instantly went limp, collapsing onto the bed. Charles quickly caught her, gently laying her down and carefully covering her with a blanket.
Patricia asked again, "What happened? Is Hannah okay?"
Charles looked at Tina, without hesitation, and said, "I need you to block her memories of the kidnapping. Those memories are too painful for her! If, if..."
He paused, as if making a huge decision, then continued, "If you can't selectively block certain memories, then block all her memories of Violet."
Only God knew how much determination it took for him to make this decision. But all memories were less important than Hannah's safety. He just wanted her to be safe and happy for the rest of her life. If those memories caused her so much pain, then they weren't worth it. Nothing was more important than Hannah.
