Chapter 859: Hannah's Agitation

After work in the afternoon, Wyatt strolled out of the office and spotted Hannah, fingers drumming on the table, chin propped up, staring off into space.

Her phone was blowing up right in front of her.

She was totally zoned out, like nothing around her even existed.

Wyatt walked over, curled two fingers, and gave her desk a couple of knocks.

Hannah didn't even flinch.

He waved his hand in front of her face.

Still nothing.

Wyatt let out a big sigh, cleared his throat with a little cough, and called out, "Hannah."

Hannah was still off in la-la land.

Wyatt tried again, "Hannah."

Her eyes were blank, lost in her own world.

Wyatt couldn't take it anymore and raised his voice, "Hannah!"

Hannah jolted, snapping out of it, and stood up all flustered, "Wyatt, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to! What's up?"

Wyatt raised his left wrist, curled a finger on his right hand, and tapped his watch lightly.

"It's time. Work's over!" he said.

Hannah's eyes went wide, "Is it already time to leave?"

She couldn't believe the day was done. It felt like she hadn't done a thing. Her mind was a mess, and she had no clue where the time went.

Wyatt patted her shoulder and said gently, "Don't stress, just go home and chill!"

With that, he headed towards the elevator. Hannah followed without thinking, stepping in with Wyatt.

She sneaked a glance at him and casually asked, "Wyatt, Mr. Watson should be home by now, right?"

Wyatt did some quick math in his head and nodded, "Yeah, he should be there by now! Mr. Watson's flight was at 4 a.m., and it takes thirteen hours to get to Sunset Bay. It's already 6 p.m.! He's been there for an hour."

Hannah was puzzled. Had he really arrived at Sunset Bay? Then why hadn't he replied to her messages? Did he not see them? Or was his phone dead?

Hannah asked, "Did Mr. Watson contact you? Did he message you to say he arrived safely?"

Wyatt knew what she was getting at and calmly said, "Nope! Mr. Watson's visiting family, and unless it's work-related, we don't really chat, let alone text each other."

Chatting with the boss. About what? A promotion and a raise? How to flirt? And maybe complain about Charles? He wasn't crazy.

"You don't contact each other," Hannah muttered to herself.

Wyatt glanced at her from the elevator wall, seeing she had no more questions, he said nothing more. Soon, the elevator doors opened on the first floor. Seeing Hannah still in a daze, Wyatt kindly reminded her, "Hannah, we're on the first floor!"

"Thanks, Wyatt!" Hannah quickly shook off her daydream and snapped back to reality, thanked him, and walked out of the elevator with her head down.

As she walked out of the company building, Hannah immediately saw the Bentley parked across the street. Seeing her come out, the Bentley's window rolled down, and Austin was smiling and waving at her.

Due to the distance, she couldn't hear what he was saying, but from his lip movements, he seemed to be calling her name.

Seeing Austin's familiar face, Hannah suddenly felt very irritated. She didn't know why, but she was inexplicably annoyed and didn't want to see him.

A fiancé picking up his fiancée from work was totally normal. She used to think it was sweet and all, but now, Austin was just getting on her nerves.

She was annoyed he came to pick her up every day. Annoyed he never gave her a heads-up. Annoyed he tried to control everything about her. Annoyed he was always in her face.

"Why are you here again? Why didn't you tell me first? Do you have nothing better to do? Always running to me?" As soon as she said it, Hannah realized she had just blurted out her thoughts. She didn't even know when she had walked over.

Seeing Austin's shocked and hurt expression, she panicked, "Sorry, I didn't mean that."

Austin asked sadly, "Am I bothering you?"

Hannah knew she messed up. No matter what, Austin's intentions were good. Even if he did stuff she didn't like, his heart was in the right place. She shouldn't have hurt him like that.

Hannah apologized, "I didn't mean that! I just meant you should tell me first. In case I have to work late, you would've come for nothing. Plus, I don't want you to mess up your own work for me. Even though you used to pick me up sometimes, you didn't come every day! I can't let you mess up your career for me."

Even though her explanation made sense, Austin knew it wasn't her true feelings. From her earlier words, he got it. She was annoyed with him. She must have been triggered by something, lost control of her emotions, and spoke her mind. Otherwise, with Hannah's kind nature, she would never say such hurtful things.

Even though her words stung, he wisely chose not to point it out, but instead followed her words to give himself an out, "I get it! Get in the car, we can't stay here too long."

Hannah hesitated for a moment, then walked around the front of the car to the passenger seat, opened the door, and got in.

The Bentley drove off smoothly.

Austin explained, "Recently, the professor and classmates are doing academic research in Country H, so I have some free time! I thought I'd spend more time with you before they come back! Once they return, I might not have as much time."

Hannah blurted out, "When are they coming back?"

She didn't even notice her urgent tone.

Austin was slightly stunned, his grip on the steering wheel tightened.

Austin replied, "The original plan was a month and a half! Now that I'm not there, it might be shortened! But the exact time is still up in the air."

"Okay!" Hannah responded absentmindedly, silently calculating in her mind.

From the day Austin left, it meant they still had a month to go.

A whole month left.

Thinking about Austin picking her up from work every day for the next month, going on dates every day, she felt inexplicably irritated and resistant.

What was wrong with her? Why was she feeling this way? She wasn't like this before! She never used to mind going on dates with Austin. But today, she seemed very impatient, lacking patience for anything. She was always eager to do something, but she didn't know what it was.
