Chapter 1266 The Feeling of Heartache

Randy's flight was at eight in the morning.

Stella's flight was at three in the afternoon.

As soon as she got back to the States, the first thing she did was head to Charles's house to find Randy.

Every time Randy came to the States, he always stayed at Charles's place.

So naturally, she assumed Randy would be there.

But when she saw the empty bedroom, she realized Randy hadn't come back.

The butler saw her rushing upstairs and quickly followed. "Ms. Reed, are you looking for Mr. Langley? Mr. Langley went to Sunset Bay for Mr. Watson's wedding, didn't he?"

The butler had been hired after Charles moved here, following the standards of Sunshine Manor.

The household staff were also similar to those at Sunshine Manor.

Stella asked, "Randy didn't come back?"

The butler looked puzzled. "No, he didn't! Mr. Watson's wedding was just yesterday. The ceremony just ended, so Mr. Langley wouldn't be back so soon, right?"

Hearing the butler's words, Stella felt like she had fallen into an ice-cold abyss, her whole body freezing.

Randy didn't come back?

He didn't return to Country D?

Then where did he go?

Suddenly, she remembered Randy mentioning a tour in Country Y, and her heart sank.

"Could he have gone straight to Country Y?"

Stella took out her phone, forgetting all about being angry, and called Randy directly.

The phone rang for what felt like an eternity. Just when Stella thought Randy wouldn't pick up, he answered, his voice low and tired. "Stella!"

Stella didn't waste any time. "Randy, where are you right now?"

Randy had expected Stella to call, but not so soon. "I'm at my place."

Stella looked around the empty room, her brows furrowing tightly. "You didn't come back to Country D?"

Randy didn't plan to hide it. "No, I had some urgent matters to handle here with Jett, so I came straight over."

Stella wasn't interested in the details; she just wanted to know when Randy would return to Country D.

"How long will it take to handle everything? You promised to come back with me. You left without saying a word."

Randy leaned back on the sofa, head tilted back, eyes closed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

He was exhausted.

He hadn't rested since last night.

He had planned to sleep on the plane, but his mind was filled with thoughts of Stella, making it impossible to sleep.

He felt more tired than ever.

Seeing he wasn't responding, Stella impatiently asked again, "When are you coming back to Country D?"

Randy let out a self-deprecating laugh.

He had escaped; how could he go back so easily?

"I'm not sure yet." He replied.

"Which city in Country Y are you in? I'll come..."

Before Stella could finish, Randy interrupted, already knowing what she was going to say.

"Stella."

Stella swallowed her words, confused. "What?"

Randy opened his eyes, sat up straight, and spoke seriously. "Stella, you're twenty now, a sophomore in college. You should focus all your energy on your studies. Hannah had special reasons for taking a break, but you don't. You should complete your education, improve yourself."

Stella hadn't expected him to say something like this.

She had always been carefree and spontaneous.

As the only daughter in her family, she knew the responsibilities on her shoulders. No matter how much she studied or what major she chose, she would eventually inherit the family business.

So, she was just passing the time and getting a degree in school.

After graduation, she would join Nexus Holdings Corporation and start her career in the family business.

She had planned to relax and do what she liked during her last four years of college.

This was the first time someone had spoken to her so seriously.

"Randy, what do you mean by this?" She didn't understand, but she felt a growing sense of unease.

Randy spoke earnestly. "I mean, you shouldn't take time off so easily. You should focus on your studies and not follow me around the country. I have my own things to do and can't be with you all the time."

After saying this, he added, "Do you understand?"

Only God knew how much it hurt him to say these words.

A dull pain spread from his heart.

But he had to do it.

If he continued to let things go, something would eventually happen.

His upbringing didn't allow him to act otherwise.

His tone was more serious than ever.

Stella's heart ached, so her tears welled up in her eyes.

"You promised to practice piano with me every day. We agreed on this! Why are you suddenly going back on your word? Is it because I'm too spoiled and you got annoyed with me?"

There was no other reason she could think of for Randy's sudden change.

Everything had been fine yesterday.

Randy felt her anxiety, and his heart ached even more.

Stella, who had been pampered like a princess all her life, had never faced such a situation.

"No! Don't overthink it. It's not about you. I just think you're twenty now and should have your own life. You shouldn't be with me all the time. I'm twenty-seven and need my own life too."

Realizing he was trying to distance her, Stella panicked. "No! I like being with you! I'll come to Country Y to find you! We agreed I'd join you on your tour. You can't go back on your word!"

Somehow, Randy's attitude made her very uneasy.

She felt that if they separated now, the distance between them would only grow.

Randy felt like everything he said was in vain; Stella hadn't listened to a word. He sighed. "You like Emeric, don't you? You're just not used to me not being around. Once you focus on something else, you'll be fine."

"Randy!" Stella wanted to tell him it wasn't like that!

It wasn't about habit.

She liked being with Randy.

Being with Randy made her feel comfortable and happy.

Unconsciously, she had started to rely on him and couldn't let go.

"Jett needs me for something. I'll hang up now. We'll talk later!" Randy didn't want to continue the conversation, so he found an excuse and hung up before Stella could respond.

Listening to the busy tone, Stella was stunned, with only one thought in her mind.

Randy hung up on her.

Randy actually hung up on her.

He had never done that before!

Randy really didn't care about her anymore!
