Chapter 699 Joe Arrived
Sebastian caught up with Riley at the front door on the first floor.
Sebastian didn't want Riley to misunderstand because of Brooke's words, so he hurriedly explained, "Riley, please don't misunderstand. No matter what my mom said, in my heart, you are as important to me as Jeremy. I have never thought of competing with you for anything."
Riley smiled. "We grew up together since we were kids, don't I trust you?"
Upon hearing this, Sebastian breathed a sigh of relief.
Sebastian added, "I don't know what's gotten into my mom lately. She wasn't like this before, and she never said these things."
Riley asked, "Do you also think Brooke has been acting strange lately?"
Sebastian was surprised. "You noticed, too?"
Riley nodded. "Yes! Lately, Brooke has been very irritable when speaking! I thought it was just because she's been in a bad mood."
Now it seemed like it was more than just a bad mood.
Perhaps she had been dissatisfied with The Koch family for too long, suppressing it for too long, and now it was about to erupt.
Sebastian said, "Ever since we returned from Country D this time, my mom has been saying inexplicable things to me! She is very dissatisfied with you and Grandpa."
Riley pondered for a moment and then patted Sebastian's shoulder, saying, "Maybe everyone's attention has been on Patricia recently, and Brooke feels neglected, so she's not in a good mood. You should pay more attention to her."
Sebastian nodded. "Yeah, I know."
Riley remembered the purpose of coming to Sebastian and asked, "How is Patricia doing?"
When Riley returned home, he heard about what happened during the day.
Sebastian didn't want Riley to be distracted from important matters, so he didn't tell Riley about it.
Sebastian said, "Don't worry. I've found her a place to stay! As long as Joe can't find Patricia here, she should be safe."
Riley smiled and said, "Alright! Remember, if you have any difficulties, you must talk to me! We are all family."
Sebastian looked at Riley with amusement and teased. "What? Do you think there's anything that can be difficult for the number one lawyer in the world?"
Riley raised an eyebrow and joked. "Number one? Is that self-proclaimed?"
Sebastian looked helpless. "Of course, it's what others call me!"
Riley shook his head with a smile, showing affection and indulgence towards Sebastian.
"Alright, it's getting late. Let's go eat!" Riley said.
"Okay!" Sebastian nodded gently.
Before leaving, Riley suddenly said inexplicably, "When Grandpa comes back, I can give two-thirds of the company to you and Jeremy. Then the three of us can run the company together."
After saying that, he walked out the door.
Upon hearing Riley's words, a smile froze on Sebastian's face, his eyes filled with despair.
"No, I have no interest in managing the company at all. Please, please don't tell Grandpa, I don't want to be there." Sebastian pleaded as he chased after Riley.
Sebastian knew Riley was joking, teasing him on purpose.
But Sebastian's despair was real.
His lifelong wish had been to become a lawyer.
Now Sebastian had also established the largest law firm in Country Y.
His goal was to ensure that there were no unjust cases in the world.
Although it was idealistic, Sebastian was working hard towards that goal.
Patricia stayed in her room every day.
Her phone was turned off.
Her only entertainment was sitting in the living room watching TV and talking to Martin on the phone every day.
At this moment, it was time for Patricia to talk to Martin.
When the landline rang, Patricia immediately turned down the TV volume and excitedly answered the phone.
"I've been looking forward to this all day. It's finally time..." Patricia said as soon as she answered the call.
Martin's voice carried an unmistakable smile. "Boring, isn't it?"
Although she knew Martin couldn't see her, Patricia kept nodding. "Yes, it's so boring. I just watch TV every day, and I can't even use the computer."
Martin comforted her. "Just be patient. Once the thing is settled, I'll bring you back home."
Patricia felt sweet in her heart and said, "Okay! As long as I can reunite with you and the children, I can wait as long as it takes!"
Then she asked, "How are the children? How's Grandpa and Ariel? Are they all okay?"
Martin patiently answered each of Patricia's questions, reassuring her about the well-being of their family members.
"That's good!"
Martin continued, "Maria and Declan have started walking. Maria has strong legs and hardly ever falls. But Declan is a bit behind Maria and falls often."
Patricia widened her eyes in surprise. "They can already walk?"
When they left Sunset Bay, they could only say "dad" and "mom" and a few simple words.
She didn't expect that during this time apart, they had already learned to walk.
As a mother, Patricia hadn't witnessed such an important moment for her children.
Martin said, "I recorded the moment; after we hung up, you can check it on your phone! But after watching, you must immediately turn off your phone; don't let Joe track you."
Upon hearing this, Patricia's eyes lit up. "Really? Okay, I'll turn it off right after watching..."
Patricia and Martin chatted for a while.
At first, they talked about the children and family.
Later, they discussed various topics.
Seeing that it was getting late and time to rest, they reluctantly ended the call.
Patricia lived the same day over and over again.
She was trapped in a cycle of repetition.
She perpetually revisited the events of the previous day. All these things were her routine activities, such as eating three meals a day, watching TV, and so on.
Eventually, Patricia couldn't bear it anymore and asked Sebastian to buy her sketchbooks to design jewelry.
As time passed, Joe found the Koch family through various clues, learned about their relationship with Patricia, and secretly sent someone to infiltrate Country Y to see Patricia.
After searching everywhere, they couldn't find her.
Later, Joe got the message that Martin brought Patricia to the Koch family, where they stayed for one night, and then returned to Sunset Bay the next day.
Joe then sent people to Sunset Bay.
Just when everyone thought Patricia was out of danger and had temporarily escaped, danger quietly approached.
One night, after Patricia had just taken a shower and changed into her pajamas, she was ready to go back to her room to sleep.
There was a slight sound outside the door.
Patricia's body tensed slightly as she took out a self-defense electric baton from the bedside table drawer, carefully walked to the back of the door, and slowly placed her hand on the doorknob.
If someone opened the door, Patricia would use the electric baton to stun them.
Fortunately, Sebastian was smart and had placed this self-defense item by Patricia's bedside.
As a result, the outside of the door fell silent again, with no sound at all.
Patricia furrowed her brows in confusion.
Could it be that Patricia misheard just now?
Just as Patricia relaxed her guard and was about to return to bed to rest, the bedroom door suddenly opened.
