Chapter 1201 The Events of That Year

Patricia had already figured out where this was heading and continued, "So, you planned to just leave Austin at the Moore Mansion?"

It was a question, but her tone made it clear she already knew the answer.

Charlotte nodded. "Yeah! The Langley family already has five kids. If I left my son there, he might end up in an orphanage.

Ryan's kid isn't even born yet, and he's all about Daisy and their baby.

He's so protective of her, there's no way he'd let her take care of someone else's kid, especially one with a sketchy background.

So, the Moore family was the best bet.

And Harper picked the Moore family because of Carter! She only helped me to get closer to him.

From the start, she wanted to leave my son at the Moore Mansion so Carter would raise him. This way, she could work from the inside, knowing everything to ensure success.

Plus, Lassie had just had a daughter and was in a very maternal phase. If we left the baby at the Moore Mansion, she might take him in and raise him."

Patricia said, "I gotta hand it to you, you guys are clever! You know how to play on people's weaknesses."

Charlotte let out a bitter laugh and was about to continue when Harper suddenly lunged at her, grabbing her by the throat. "Shut up, you idiot! Do you even know what you're saying? Do we know each other? Before today, we had never met! I'm warning you, watch your mouth. Don't make up things that never happened!"

It was a blatant threat, to keep Charlotte from saying too much.

Patricia's brow furrowed deeply.

The bodyguard immediately pulled Harper away and slapped her hard. "If you weren't asked to speak, don't speak! Or I'll knock your teeth out."

Half of Harper's face swelled up, and her mouth filled with the taste of blood. She tried to speak but found one side of her face numb.

Patricia looked at Charlotte. "Go on. Tell us everything you've done over the years."

Charlotte's face was filled with a lifeless despair, like someone who had lost all hope.

"Later, we found out we were right! Carter and Lassie really did take the child in and raise him as their own.

They even gave him a beautiful name, Austin. They hoped he would grow up to be smart, capable, and strong."

Though she hated them, she couldn't deny she liked the name, which showed how much Carter and Lassie valued her son.

Carter, who had been mostly silent, finally spoke. "Unfortunately, he let us down. We hoped he would be wise and capable, honest and brave, but he strayed further and further from that path."

Charlotte's eyes went blank for a moment, and she realized she had ruined her own son.

"Our initial plan was to wait until Austin was an adult and had successfully taken over the Moore Group before I revealed myself to him. But Harper said that by then, he would be too old to control easily.

We had to reveal the truth while he was still young so he would obey us." Charlotte added.

Seeing that Charlotte was really about to spill everything, Harper panicked. "Charlotte, are you out of your mind? Do you really think spilling your guts is gonna make them let you off the hook? You've hated them your whole life, and now you're gonna let a few words change that?

What about all those years of hatred? What about Hunter's death? Was everything you've done for nothing?"

Her face hurt, so her words came out slurred and unclear.

She didn't dare to shout.

Charlotte glanced at her indifferently, then looked away coldly. "I always knew Harper was using me! But wasn't I using her too? We were both using each other!"

Harper was confused.

Charlotte continued, "I was afraid he would be hard to control once he grew up, so I went to find him when he was in middle school. I told him I was his biological mother! Ha."

At this, Tina couldn't hold back any longer. "You are so selfish! You ruined Austin's life over personal grudges! He could have lived a carefree, peaceful life! It's all because of you. You're despicable."

Charlotte laughed bitterly. "Yes! I was truly selfish!"

It wasn't until today that she realized how completely wrong she had been.

"I secretly followed Austin for a long time and discovered a secret. My son seemed to have feelings for his supposed sister, Violet."

Everyone's eyes turned to her.

So, she was the first to notice Austin's feelings for Violet.

This was a forbidden love, something that couldn't be spoken of or seen in the light.

None of them had noticed, but Charlotte had discovered it early on.

"Unfortunately, we miscalculated! We thought he would be easy to control because he was young. We thought he would listen to me, his biological mother.

I didn't expect his feelings for Carter and Lassie to be so deep.

He refused to acknowledge me as his mother! He seemed to be falling apart because of me."

Everyone looked at Austin with sympathy.

He was only in middle school.

He should have been carefree.

But his biological mother had led him astray, ruining his life.

Tina wanted to rush over and kill those two bastards.

Austin's forgotten past was brought back, and remembering his confusion and breakdown during that time, his eyes grew sad.

Harper was in complete despair.

She never expected Patricia to unravel Charlotte's years of hatred with just a few words.

Charlotte, lost in her thoughts, spoke again, seemingly absent-mindedly, "Although Austin tried to protect Carter and Lassie, he was still too inexperienced and fell into our trap.

Back then, to make him obey me, Harper and I staged a kidnapping!

After the kidnappers took Violet, Harper went in and killed them all! When Austin arrived, the kidnappers were dead, and Violet was unconscious!

I used his feelings for Violet to tempt him!

I told him that since Violet was unconscious, we could take her away without anyone knowing. I would find a top-notch psychologist to erase all her memories and give her a new identity.

When she grew up, he could openly pursue Violet and be with her!

Ha."

She couldn't help but laugh again. "He was just a kid, unable to resist the temptation. Under my influence, he finally fell completely."
