Chapter 879 Charles' Heartfelt Confession
When Hannah heard those words, the tears that had been building up in her eyes just spilled over.
Finally, she saw a bit of light in all that darkness.
She never thought Charles would be the one to confess first; she was planning to spill her guts to him!
After being apart for over a month, the first thing he says to her in private is, "I like you."
All the crap she'd been dealing with these past days just melted away, and she couldn't stop the waterworks.
She didn't know what was up with her.
She just knew she really needed to cry.
Seeing her cry, Charles freaked out. He fumbled around, pulled out a handkerchief, and awkwardly tried to wipe her tears.
"I'm sorry," Charles blurted out. "I shouldn't have bailed without a word! I shouldn't have been so cold when I got back. My folks always told me not to be the third wheel in a relationship, but I was scared I'd fall even harder for you! I was terrified I'd do something I'd regret. That's why I left. I'm sorry for making you go through all that."
He was scared he'd mess up big time.
He was scared that even though he knew Hannah had a fiancé, he'd still fall head over heels for her, becoming the third wheel and taking her away from Austin.
When he saw her again at Maximilian's place, he realized avoiding her was pointless.
No matter how hard he tried to play it cool and keep his distance, he couldn't fool his own heart.
He missed her. He missed her like crazy.
All that missing just exploded the moment he saw her.
He had to act all indifferent just to stop himself from running to her.
Hannah threw herself into Charles's arms, wrapping her arms tight around his waist, her face buried in his chest, crying her heart out.
In no time, a big part of Charles's shirt was soaked with her tears.
Charles held her like she was the most precious thing in the world.
For the first time, he really felt her presence.
This feeling made him feel so secure.
The emptiness he'd felt all this time seemed to vanish in that moment.
Charles lowered his head and kissed her forehead.
When his cold lips touched her warm skin, it was like warmth flooded his body, and the blood that had been stagnant for over a month started flowing again, bringing him back to life.
Charles said sincerely, "I like you. I've wanted to tell you for so long! That day when I kissed you, I meant it; I wasn't trying to mess with you! Hannah, I like you. I want to be with you. I want you to be my girlfriend, with the intention of marriage! I swear, I'll love you right, give you everything I've got, and make you the happiest woman in the world."
After his heartfelt confession, Charles pulled Hannah out of his arms, looked deep into her eyes, and said, "Hannah, will you be my girlfriend?"
Hannah looked up at him, seeing the sincerity and deep emotion in his eyes, and for a moment, she forgot to cry.
Her heart was pounding like crazy.
'Yes! I want to! I want to!' she screamed in her head, but she was so nervous she couldn't get a word out.
Seeing her not answering, Charles thought he had scared her and that she wasn't ready yet. He smiled gently, "You don't have to answer me right away! I can give you time to think about it. Even if you ultimately reject me, I'll still chase after you."
'No rejection. I want to. I like you too.' Hannah shook her head desperately, wanting to answer him, but the more nervous and anxious she got, the more she couldn't make a sound.
She was so anxious she was about to cry again.
She used to think what she felt for Austin was love.
Now she got it. That wasn't love; it was just gratitude.
She loved Charles. She wanted to be with him. She didn't want to waste any more time.
But she just couldn't get the words out, like she was choking on them.
Charles thought he was pushing her too hard and couldn't stand seeing her like this. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead again, "It's late. I can't stay here long! See you tomorrow! I rushed over just to tell you how I feel! If I didn't, I wouldn't be able to sleep all night."
After saying that, he led her back to her room and smiled, "You should hit the sack early too. Sweet dreams! Bye!"
The tears on Hannah's face had already dried, and she felt super happy. She waved at him, "Good night!"
As soon as she said it, Hannah wanted to slap herself.
She could say that sentence. But the words "I am willing" seemed to be cursed; she just couldn't say them normally.
Charles left. As the door closed, he looked at her reluctantly.
After the door shut, Charles didn't leave right away but stood there, grinning like an idiot.
The heavy weight in his heart seemed to have lifted, and he felt relaxed and happy.
Stella leaned against the wall, standing there for a long time. When she realized he hadn't noticed her, she sighed and said, "As expected, they say people in love only have eyes for their partner. I didn't believe it before, but now I do! Now that you have a girlfriend, you can't even see your sister."
Charles finally noticed she was still there and said in surprise, "You're still here?"
Stella rolled her eyes, "I've been standing here watching you for a while."
Charles was so happy he couldn't stop smiling.
As he walked towards the elevator, he asked, "Then why didn't you leave?"
Just then, the elevator arrived, and Charles walked in.
Stella followed him in, feeling annoyed, "I wanted to leave! But I rushed out too quickly and only brought my phone. I left my car keys and bag on the coffee table."
Charles's mind was full of Hannah, and he absentmindedly said, "You can go back and get them now."
Stella looked at the numbers on the elevator display and pouted, "She's probably dancing with joy at home right now and won't have time to pay attention to me! I'll just go home! Let her enjoy her happiness alone."
Hearing her words, Charles laughed.
If the situation allowed, he would also be dancing with joy.
On the other side, the room was pitch black, with the door and windows tightly shut.
Austin sat on the floor, leaning against the wall, surrounded by empty wine bottles scattered all over.
The room reeked of alcohol.
Karen, who was chained up, sat opposite him, looking at him with undisguised disdain in her eyes.
Karen said, "Look at you, all pathetic. Your girlfriend was taken away, and all you do is drink. If I were you, I'd go kill Charles right now. If I can't have her, neither can he."
Austin sneered at himself, "I would if I could! But he's in Sunset Bay right now! How can I make a move?"
Karen said, "He's already back."
Austin was stunned and looked at her, his voice sharp, "How do you know?"
Karen threw her phone in front of him, "She just sent you a message!"
Because the phone had a lock screen password, she could only see the message content when it popped up but couldn't open it.
Hearing her words, Austin seemed to sober up a bit. He sat up straight, picked up the phone, and when he saw the message content, his eyes instantly turned cold.
Charles had already returned.
