Chapter 870 An Incident Occurs
Stella never thought her message would just vanish into the void. Even after hanging with Hannah and getting back home that night, still no reply.
She was fuming, convinced the rumors were true—Charles was really with Bethany. Pissed off, she grabbed her phone and called Charles.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
Phone's off?
Seeing his phone was off, her anger cooled a bit.
She then found Patricia's number and dialed it.
This time, the call went through fast.
Patricia's voice came from the other end.
Patricia asked, “Stella, what's up?”
Her voice was low and tense.
Stella picked up on the weird vibe and quickly asked, “Patricia, what's going on? You sound really upset.”
Patricia rubbed her temples, “Some stuff's been going down at home lately.”
Stella asked, “What happened?”
Patricia said in a deep voice, “It's too complicated to explain quickly! What do you need from me?”
Stella asked, “Where's Charles? Is he with you?”
Patricia replied, “No! He's been super busy these past few days and hasn't come home. Why do you need him?”
Even though Stella was usually laid-back, she had a knack for sensing things. She immediately knew something was up with Patricia's family.
But it seemed like Patricia didn't want to spill the details.
Since Patricia didn't want to talk, Stella didn't push. She softly said, “I need to talk to Charles about something, but it's not urgent. You handle your family stuff first.”
Patricia replied, “Okay, I'll let him know when he comes back.”
“Alright! Thanks!” Stella said.
After ending the call, Stella was really worried. She put her phone back in her pants pocket and ran to her parents' bedroom door, knocking on it.
After a bit, the door opened.
Carol looked at her in surprise, “When did you get back?”
Stella squeezed past her and walked into the room.
Maximilian was sitting at the desk, working on his laptop. Seeing her come in, he closed the laptop and smiled, waving her over.
Stella, as docile as a cat, nestled in his arms.
Maximilian gently stroked her hair, “Coming to us so late, what's the matter?”
He knew his daughter too well.
She rarely came to them.
Whenever she did, it meant something was up.
Stella looked up at Maximilian curiously, “Dad, I just called Patricia, and her tone was really off! Did something happen to their family?”
Maximilian's expression also became serious.
“Yeah, something did happen.” He sighed deeply and continued, “I heard Randy's fiancée went missing.”
Stella was shocked and pulled away from Maximilian's embrace, looking at him in disbelief, “Weren't they about to get married? How could she go missing? Is it like what happened to Violet back then? Was she kidnapped?”
Maximilian shook his head, “I don't know what exactly happened! Your great-uncle called me this morning and told me! He said the two of them were fine yesterday morning, went to the mall to buy wedding clothes! But after lunch, they couldn't be contacted.”
At this point, Carol also came over and sat on the sofa next to them.
Carol shot back, “It can't be a kidnapping! If it were, the kidnappers would've called by now! It's been over twenty-four hours since Randy's fiancée went missing, and there's been no ransom call. It's probably not a kidnapping.”
Maximilian nodded, “Your mom's right! It shouldn't be a kidnapping!”
Carol sighed, “The Langley family has been searching everywhere for the past two days, they've combed through all of Sunset Bay and still haven't found her!”
Maximilian added, “Back in the day, Randy's dad had his bride run away just before the wedding, and Patricia had to step in! I didn't expect the same thing to happen to Randy.”
Carol said, “I heard Randy's been going nuts looking for her. He's only ever had eyes for Andrea. Patricia's really worried, afraid Andrea's disappearance will break him. Randy, like Charles, once he likes someone, it's for life.”
Maximilian rubbed Stella's head, “So, don't bother them right now. They're really stressed about Andrea's situation.”
Stella pouted, annoyed, “What's up with Andrea? No matter where she goes, she should at least say something. Disappearing without a word, what is that?”
Carol reminded, “Don't spread this around! You know, people are always watching us wealthy families. If they get any whiff of this, they'll make it public! The Langley's are already exhausted, don't make them deal with more PR!”
Stella nodded, “I know, I won't tell anyone!”
Maximilian said, “Charles probably won't be back for a while, so don't bother him! He'll come back once he's done with his work.”
Stella obediently nodded, “Don't worry. I know how to prioritize!”
Maximilian patted her head, “Good girl!”
In Sunset Bay, at night, Sunshine Manor was still brightly lit.
Everyone in the family had gone out to look for Andrea.
The next day, Charles and others brought a team and searched every inch of Sunset Bay, even the most remote corners, but still couldn't find any trace of Andrea.
Randy had been searching non-stop, his eyes bloodshot.
Seeing him about to go out again, Patricia grabbed him, her face full of concern, “Randy, take a break! You've been searching without eating or drinking. If you keep this up, you'll get sick.”
Randy kept shaking his head, “No! I have to find her! She might be locked up by some bad guys. The sooner we find her, the sooner she'll be out of danger.”
“Randy.” Patricia wanted to persuade him, but the usually gentle Randy shook off her hand and left.
Patricia almost fell, but Charles quickly caught her.
She grabbed Charles's arm, “Charles, talk to him. He really can't go on like this. He just has a better health. He can't keep this up.”
Charles seriously looked in the direction Randy had left.
Charles comforted, “Mom, don't worry. Leave this to me! I'll handle it.”
After saying that, he let go of Patricia and left.
An hour later, Charles arrived at a dim, dilapidated house.
With each step, the floor creaked as if it might collapse at any moment.
Charles came to a door, took out a key, and opened the peeling door.
The house was pitch black.
He flipped the switch, and the lights came on.
Charles immediately saw Andrea sitting on the living room sofa. He moved his hand from the switch and closed the door behind him.
