Chapter 740 One Thing After Another

Patricia tried to speak, but the grip on her throat tightened. She struggled to curl up, but no sound came out.

Her vision blurred. The strength in her hands, clutching Brooke's, faded.

Just as she was about to pass out, there was a sudden noise, and Brooke's movements stopped.

Patricia paused, watching Brooke slowly close her eyes and collapse. Blood flowed from Brooke's hair, staining the floor.

Hunter stood there, stunned.

Holding an ashtray, Hunter looked in horror at Brooke on the ground, his body and hands trembling.

The hands on Patricia's neck released. She clutched her chest, gasping for air, coughing uncontrollably.

Seeing her cough, Hunter dropped the ashtray and rushed to help her up, "Patricia, don't be afraid. I'll protect you."

It took Patricia a moment to catch her breath. She glanced at Brooke, then at Hunter, "She...She..."

Hunter, thinking she was going to blame him, raised his hands, looking hurt, "She bullied you. I can't let anyone bully you."

Patricia's eyes filled with tears. Even after all these decades, even though the real Hunter had gone mad, he still remembered to protect her. His kindness never changed.

"Hunter, you..." Patricia wanted to comfort him, but as soon as she touched his shoulder, he sprang away, squatting and hugging his head.

Hunter said, "I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to."

Memories flooded his mind. Hunter curled up in fear, burying his face between his knees, his hands in his hair, trembling. He said, "I didn't mean to, don't hit me, please spare me."

Patricia walked over and gently patted his shoulders. She felt him tense up.

He muttered, "I know I was wrong. I know I was wrong. Don't hit me."

Hunter's pleas for mercy made Patricia remember something. She lifted his shirt and saw his body covered in scars. She couldn't hold back her tears.

His body was like Gabriel's, covered in wounds. These weren't from Piper, but old scars from years ago.

There were various sizes and shades of scars, like belt marks, whip marks, and cigarette burns. Such scars came from long-term abuse.

Patricia knelt, heartbroken, and hugged Hunter's head, softly comforting him, "You used to protect me. Now it's my turn to protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you again."

As Patricia gently embraced Hunter, his body began to relax, and his trembling lessened.

Patricia's chest ached with sorrow. Thinking of Hunter's experiences, her tears fell even more.

Patricia said, "It's okay, everything will be fine now. No one will bully you anymore. Be good." Her voice choked with emotion. Saying this seemed to drain all her strength.

Hunter clung to her waist like a small boat finally finding a harbor. His tense nerves gradually relaxed, and he stopped trembling.

Patricia glanced at Brooke lying in a pool of blood and sighed inwardly, "Be good. I'll take you back to your room to take your medicine, okay?"

Hunter nodded obediently. Patricia held his hand, led him back to the room, gave him his medicine, and turned on the TV. She said, "Watch TV for a while. I need to handle the situation outside."

Hunter clung to Patricia's hand, shaking his head fearfully, "Don't leave me."

Patricia smiled and patted his hand, "I won't leave you! I'll come back as soon as I handle the situation outside! Don't go out, okay?"

Although Hunter occasionally went crazy, he could be as simple and well-behaved as a child.

After calming Hunter down, Patricia closed the door, took out her phone, and dialed 911, then called Sebastian.

Meanwhile, Martin had just arrived at the Koch family. Before he could apprehend the spy, Patricia's call came through. When Sebastian received Patricia's call, he instinctively glanced at Martin, then answered, "Patricia?"

Patricia explained the situation from start to finish, deliberately omitting Hunter and instead saying she accidentally injured Brooke. Patricia said, "Sebastian, I'm sorry. I just grabbed something randomly, and I didn't realize it was an ashtray. It ended up hitting Brooke's head!"

Sebastian was serious, "I should be the one apologizing to you! Where is my mom now?"

Patricia replied, "She was taken to the emergency room at Mayo Clinic!"

Sebastian said, "I'm heading over right now!"

After ending the call, he briefly explained the situation to Riley and Martin.

Riley frowned slightly, "Why would Brooke suddenly go to find Patricia? How did she know where Patricia lived?"

The timing was too coincidental! They had just decided to catch the spy today, and now this happened. It was not just a simple coincidence.

Sebastian was smart and he also sensed something was strange, "I'll go to see my mother first. Once she wakes up, I'll ask her for details."

Riley patted his shoulder, "Alright! Take good care of Brooke!"

Sebastian left.

Martin asked, "Riley, could this have anything to do with him?" Just as he finished speaking, Riley's phone rang. The call was from Joshua Garcia.

Riley answered, and whatever Joshua said made his face instantly darken, his usually calm eyes filled with anger.

Martin felt something in trouble. With a quick look, he knew something went down.

Sure enough, after ending the call, Riley said grimly, "There's trouble at the company."

Martin immediately asked, "What happened?"

First, Brooke went to trouble Patricia, and now there's trouble at the company. One thing after another. It was clear someone was orchestrating everything in the behind.
