Chapter 201 Martin Got Terribly Duped by Randy

Seeing Martin getting scolded, a caregiver nearby silently turned around, while pretending to be busy wiping here and there.

Patricia poked Martin's chest with her right index finger repeatedly, “Tell me, why did you send so many red roses to me?”

“Don't all women like flowers!” Martin retorted with conviction. Even now, he had no clue where he'd gone wrong.

Patricia was utterly speechless, “When people send roses, they either send a single one or a bunch. You sent me 999 roses and placed them right in the middle of our office, occupying almost all the space we have for walking.”

Martin mentally visualized that scenario. Patricia continued, “Tell me, where am I supposed to put those 999 roses?”

Martin couldn’t answer her. He didn’t know, himself, what to do with them all. He stood there and waited for Patricia to continue; he knew she wasn’t done telling him off.

“That's not even the main issue! The main issue is you plan to send these every day. What would the hospital staff think of me? I’d waste time dealing with this daily. In less than three days, I'd become the laughingstock of the entire hospital.”

Stunned, Martin asked, “Is it… is it that serious?”

Patricia glared at him fiercely, “What do you think?”

Martin finally, looked towards Randy, who had abruptly stopped signaling with his eyes and turned his head to the side, appearing to ‘seriously’ observe the clothes drying on the balcony.

“And another thing...” Patricia took out her phone, opened the WhatsApp chat, and flipped to the cheesy love messages Martin sent, thrusting them in his face, “I ask you; did you send these?”

Even Martin, with his emotional obtuseness, could tell from Patricia's expression that she was not pleased. He hesitated, not knowing whether to admit it or feign ignorance. As he stood there stupefied, Patricia guessed the answer.

The cheesy love messages, were actually sent by Martin to her. Suddenly, she found it hilarious. Martin sending her cheesy love messages. The high and mighty, domineering CEO sent her cheesy love messages.

No one would believe such a scene if told. Even she herself could hardly believe it. As she thought about it, Patricia actually laughed. Seeing her laugh, Martin heaved a sigh of relief, thinking she was truly happy.

He quickly said, “Those were sent by me. Do you like them? I've saved many more. I'll send you three every day, morning, noon, and night.”

Patricia, Randy, and the caregiver, who was eavesdropping, just looked at Martin. They couldn’t believe his stupidity. Patricia responded with three cold chuckles.

As Martin pondered in confusion, Patricia took a deep breath, her voice suddenly becoming very gentle. "Does your phone still has a lot of them saved? How many do you have? Can you show me?"

Ever since their reunion, Patricia hadn't been this tender to him. Overjoyed and disoriented, Martin took out his phone, flipped through his notes, and handed them to Patricia as if presenting a treasure.

"Take a look, these are all things Randy found for me online, I've saved loads! Enough to keep sending for an entire week."

Randy was terrified out of his wits; his own father had thrown him under the bus! Hearing this, Patricia turned her gaze to Randy. Randy didn’t like to be on the receiving end of her deadly glare, without hesitation he betrayed Martin.

"Mommy, don't listen to Daddy's nonsense. I'm only four years old, how could I know so much!"

Martin’s mouth dropped open, he couldn’t believe Randy would betray him like that, even though he had just done the same thing.

Randy added, "I guess Daddy must have learned it from TV!"

After saying this, he looked at Martin with a serious expression. "Daddy, how many times have I told you not to watch those mindless drama TV shows? You just won't listen. Look, this is why Mommy is angry now!"

Martin just stood there, mute. Between Martin and Randy, Patricia naturally trusted Randy more. After all, Randy was a four-year-old child, and what could such a young child know.

Instantly, she felt even more disappointed and angry with Martin. "Martin, not only do you do wrong, but you also blame your own son. What kind of man are you? I'm utterly disappointed."

"I... he..." Martin pointed at himself and then at Randy.

How could this have gone so wrong? It was clearly Randy who taught him. How had it suddenly become his own fault?

Patricia took a deep breath, trying hard to control her emotions, and warned him. "It doesn’t matter now, don't you dare send me these bizarre messages anymore, and stop sending me flowers, I don't like them."

Martin finally understood, what Patricia meant, as he listened to her last few words. "You don't like them?"

Patricia nodded solemnly, "Right, I don't like them, so stop doing such pointless things."

Martin felt extremely wronged. The first time he pursued a woman, and it turns out she doesn't like him. This revelation, dealt a huge blow to his male ego.

"Do you dislike these things, or do you dislike me?"

This information was crucial, with one there was no hope, the other he still had a chance of winning her over.

Patricia said seriously, "I dislike these things! Martin, these ways of chasing a woman don't suit you! Sending flowers, watching movies, going to dinner, none of these should be what you do."

She simply couldn't associate Martin with these activities. In her eyes, Martin was supposed to be above such things. Even in pursuing a girl, he shouldn't resort to such vulgar methods.

Martin wasn’t sure what that meant. She didn't deny disliking him—does that mean she likes him? Martin's smile stretched almost to his ears, grinning like a fool.

"I have to go to work! Remember, stop doing these boring things!" Patricia had no time to linger, and after speaking, she turned and left.

Martin continued to revel in his happiness, still wearing a silly smile. Seeing him lost in thought, Randy sneaked off the bed, tiptoeing, preparing to make a run for it before Martin would explode in anger. But as he passed by Martin, he was caught by the back of his collar.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Randy turned his head, looking at Martin with a pitiable expression: "Yes, King daddy?"

Martin was resolute, "Calling me king won't help."

"Kings are no relation to me, but who's closer than daddy!" Randy shamelessly tried to ingratiate himself.

Thinking about the way Randy had pushed all the blame onto him, making him the sole target of scolding, Martin was furious. He rushed over and grabbed Randy's ear.

"Do you think a few sweet words will get you off the hook, you rascal? Putting all the blame on me and leaving me to be scolded alone, let's see how I'll deal with you."

Randy knew that Martin wouldn't truly hurt him, so he pulled away his hand, smiling and trying to charm his way out. "Oh, Daddy, it's better for one person to be scolded than two! Do you really have the heart to watch me get scolded by mommy?"

He said this while pouting at his father. His beautiful, phoenix-like eyes blinked pitifully, yet also with a cheeky charm. Martin nearly relented but, recovered his senses at the last moment.

"Stop playing the victim. It was your silly idea that got me scolded by mommy!"

Randy's eyes craftily turned. "That's okay if mommy doesn’t like it; I still have—I..."

Just as he was about to boast, he was cut off by Martin's stern voice. "Shut your mouth. If I listen to you again, I’ll be the fool! Get back to bed!"

With that, he tossed Randy by the back of his collar onto the bed. Randy landed steadily on the sickbed.

"Alright, I'll be quiet, sleep..." Randy made a zipper motion to his mouth, turned over away from Martin, and pulled the blanket over his head.

Martin felt a mix of anger and amusement as he patted the rascal's bottom through the blanket.

Elsewhere, three hours later, Charlotte appeared on time at the DNA testing center.
