Chapter 794 Psychological Distortion

Charles was on edge, nervously closing his eyes as he gave Violet a hesitant kiss. Their lips barely touched, sharing each other's breath. Violet felt his lips tremble, and her heart raced.

Charles pulled back quickly, not wanting to push further. Violet gasped for air like she'd been underwater, breathing deeply.

Amused, Charles ruffled her hair, "Trying to suffocate yourself, Violet?"

Her face turned red, "I'm just nervous!"

Charles, lost in thought, murmured, "Five more years. Just five more years."

In five years, Violet would be old enough to marry, and he'd be back from his studies. Confused, Violet asked, "What five years?"

Realizing he'd said too much, Charles handed her some study materials, "Here's what you'll need for the next three years of junior high. Let me know if you have questions."

Violet skimmed through the pages and said, "It's clear and detailed. I get it!"

Charles smiled, ruffling her hair again, "Good! It's late, get some rest. You need to wake up early tomorrow."

Violet nodded. Charles walked her to her room and reminded her, "Turn off your phone when you sleep. Even small amounts of radiation can affect your sleep over time. Sleep well, and I'll wake you up in the morning."

Violet agreed, "Make sure you wake me up. I don't want to miss school. My grades might not be great, but I take learning seriously!"

Charles chuckled, "Got it! I'll wake you up on time."

Violet waved goodbye and reluctantly closed the door.

Meanwhile, at Rose Garden Manor, Austin couldn't sleep. The woman's words haunted him, "If you like her, then pursue her! If you can't even pursue a girl, what achievements can you make?"

Violet wasn't his sister. Violet wasn't his sister.

Austin sat up, clutching his head, his fingers tangled in his hair. Was he losing it? Why did he feel happy hearing that? Even knowing the woman was lying, he couldn't shake the joy, hoping it was true. What was wrong with him?

He went to the balcony, closed his eyes, and took deep breaths, hoping the cool air would clear his mind. But the thoughts only grew stronger.

He rushed to the bathroom, splashing cold water on his face. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Violet's face, even her angry expressions seemed adorable.

Soaked and frustrated, he stared at his reflection in the mirror, feeling lost and confused, like he was at a crossroads with no idea which way to go.

The next day, Charles woke Violet up on time. She was curled up in her blanket like a kitten, peeking out sleepily.

Charles lifted the covers and gently patted her. "Violet, time to wake up!"

She was still out cold. Charles raised his voice, "Violet, get up!"

No response. After some sleepy mumbling, she kept snoozing. Charles resorted to pinching her nose.

At first, no reaction. Then she furrowed her brows and tried to pull his hand away. Finally, she opened her eyes, gasping for air.

Charles let go and smiled, "Violet, it's time! Didn't you say you wanted to be on time today?"

Violet glanced at him, then lazily asked, "What time is it?"

"It's seven o'clock! You have an hour before class."

Her eyes shot open and he asked, "What time?"

Charles chuckled, "Exactly seven."

Violet jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, "Oh no, I'm gonna be late!"

Charles watched her brush her teeth in a hurry, his eyes full of affection, "Relax, this is Sunshine Manor. You're close to school."

Realizing this, Violet slowed down, "Oh, right! I thought I was at Rose Garden Manor. No rush then!"

Charles ruffled her hair, "I'll wait downstairs. Change and come down."

"Okay!" she mumbled through a mouthful of foam.

After Charles left, Violet quickly finished her morning routine, changed, and went downstairs. She grabbed a sandwich and milk to eat in the car.

Charles watched her, feeling reluctant, "My flight's at two this afternoon. Behave at home. If you need help with math, call me."

Violet paused, her sandwich losing its taste. "So soon?"

She hadn't spent enough time with him.

Charles knew she was upset, but parting was inevitable. In five years, he'd be back. By then, his company could go public. He'd started a mobile game company during his second year abroad. It gained fame quickly, securing funding rounds in the second and fourth years. He believed it would go public this year. This trip to Sunset Bay was to visit Violet and check on his company's branch. After dropping her off, he'd head to the company and then fly back.

Violet struggled to hold back tears, forcing a smile, "Okay, I'll wait for you to come back."

Seeing her teary eyes, Charles's heart ached. He almost wanted to stay, but reason prevailed. He ruffled her hair one last time and left.
