Chapter 787 Jealousy
The first holiday after Charles left.
Violet had Carter book plane tickets early, and they flew to Country M that evening.
Carter took the chance to bring Lassie, Violet, and Austin along to visit Charles and have some fun.
Violet didn't tell Charles she was coming.
There were no holidays in Country M during this time.
Knowing Charles was in school, Violet took a taxi straight there after landing.
This was the biggest university in Country M, filled with top students from all over the world, and Charles was the youngest among them.
Violet stood at the school gate, clueless.
She knew Charles studied here but had no idea about his major, dorm, or classroom.
Seeing her puzzled, Carter chuckled, "Lost, huh? Don't know where to find Charles?"
Violet pouted, debating whether to call Charles. But that would ruin the surprise.
As she hesitated, Carter grinned, "I know where he is! I got all the details from Langley!"
Violet's eyes lit up. "Let's go!" She was about to dash into the school.
Austin grabbed her hand, "The school's huge. Don't run or you'll get lost."
Violet nodded, following obediently.
Carter had already researched the school. He knew the gates, school bus routes, majors, and department buildings.
Soon, he found the school bus. "We need to take this; it's too far to walk."
The bus was like a tour bus, showing off the beautiful campus.
After about twenty minutes, they arrived.
Carter led them to a red-tiled teaching building.
Climbing the stairs, he said, "Charles is in Classroom 1 on the third floor!"
For the first time, Violet thought Carter was really smart. He had prepared everything, while she had nothing.
They reached the third floor, and Carter found Classroom 1.
It was break time, and both doors were open. Everyone was still studying quietly.
Violet stood at the back door, scanning for Charles.
She quickly spotted him in the third row on the left. She knew him too well, recognizing him by his hair and head shape.
Violet signaled Carter to be quiet and tiptoed towards Charles, planning to surprise him.
Austin watched her, his face growing colder.
As she got closer, her smile widened. But then she saw a girl next to Charles, leaning in close.
They were talking intimately.
Violet's smile vanished. She stood there, cheeks puffed in anger, waiting to see how long they'd stay close.
Some classmates noticed her but quickly returned to their studies.
The classroom was full of bookworms.
Violet watched Charles for a long time.
Seeing her just standing there, Carter asked, "What's she doing? Why isn't she calling Charles?"
Lassie giggled, "She's jealous! Seeing Charles close to a girl made her uncomfortable!"
Carter's eyes widened, "She's so young and already knows how to be jealous? Isn't that a bit too early?"
Lassie rolled her eyes, "Let me ask you, when you were a kid, if someone took your toy, would you get mad?"
Carter got it, "You mean?"
Lassie nodded, "She's jealous, but not because of love. It's more like her possession is being taken. It's just possessiveness."
Carter understood, "You're right! Charles is really good to her, better than to his own siblings! Seeing him close to someone else would definitely make her uncomfortable."
Exactly! Violet was too young to understand love. Her attachment to Charles was just a habit.
When she grew up, she'd understand love, family, and dependence.
Little did they know, Austin overheard and took it differently.
'Yes! No wonder I feel uneasy when Violet is close to Charles. It's like my possession is being taken. Violet is mine. No one can take her from me,' Austin thought.
Violet stared for a long time, and Charles finally sensed something was off. He felt a chill and turned around.
Seeing Violet, he stood up, delighted. "Violet, what are you doing here?"
Violet glanced at the girl next to him, snorted, and walked away angrily.
Charles was stunned, then quickly packed his books and chased after her. Seeing Carter at the back door, he understood.
"Carter, Lassie, do you all come together?"
Carter nodded, "Violet's been wanting to see you every day! Now that it's a holiday, she couldn't wait! She got mad seeing you with a girl. Go after her and calm her down!"
"Alright!"
Though Charles didn't get why Violet was angry, he chased after her.
Violet was fuming. She walked out of the classroom, not caring where she was going.
After a while, she realized she was lost.
Just as she was about to call Carter for help, Charles caught up and held her hand.
"Violet, don't run around. This place is big; you might get lost!"
Seeing him, Violet felt less scared. She pouted, "I saw it. You have a girlfriend!"
Charles laughed, poking her head, "What are you thinking? She's just a classmate asking questions! I don't even know her name!"
Violet squinted, "Are you telling the truth?"
Charles sighed, "You're only seven. Stop thinking about things beyond your age!"
Violet puffed her cheeks. Though she wasn't angry anymore, she pretended to be for pride's sake.
Charles ruffled her hair, "Isn't this a seven-day holiday? How about I take you out to play?"
Hearing she could go out with Charles, Violet's eyes lit up.
"Okay, I want to go out and play. Where are we going?"
Charles said, "I'll book a hotel for you first, then we'll put our luggage there."
Violet shook her head, "No need, Carter already booked a hotel, and Nathan took the luggage there."
"Alright then! I'll inform my professor, and then we'll go."
"Okay, okay!" Violet nodded eagerly.
Austin stood in the hallway, watching Charles and Violet walk hand in hand, a dark shadow crossing his eyes.
