Chapter 911 Charles Woke Up

Charles was chilling in a swanky VIP room at the hospital.

The place was spotless.

Even though Charles had been out cold for ages, he looked more like he was just catching some Z's than a coma patient.

When Stella saw him, her eyes got all teary, and she grabbed his left hand tight.

"Charles, why the heck haven't you woken up yet? Do you even know Hannah's gonna marry Austin in less than a month?" Stella blurted out.

Patricia, who was standing behind her, was totally floored.

"Wait, what? Hannah's marrying Austin?" Patricia asked, stunned.

No way. Charles finally found a girl he liked.

If he wakes up and finds out she's hitched to someone else, it's gonna crush him. He might never get over it.

Sure, Austin was Carter's adopted kid, and Patricia had watched him grow up, so they were tight.

But let's be real, blood's thicker than water. She'd always pick her own son over anyone, even if Hannah used to be Austin's girl.

Stella nodded, not even looking back, and kept talking, like she was explaining to both Charles and Patricia, "Hannah's dad threatened her with his life. She had no choice but to agree to marry Austin on her birthday next month! Charles, wake up already. If you don't, Hannah's gonna be someone else's."

But Charles just lay there, not a twitch.

Patricia walked over and gently put a hand on Stella's shoulder, "It's no use. I've been talking to him every day, but nada! When we were in Country D, his fingers moved, but since we got back, not even a twitch. Sometimes I think maybe I shouldn't have brought him back. Maybe he'd be better off if he stayed there."

Stella's eyes lit up, "Maybe we should send him back to Country D!"

Patricia gave her a light tap on the forehead, "I'm just saying! We can't move him around like that in his condition! Plus, Martin's already got the best docs from all over the world on this. He'll get better, I know it."

Stella's hope dimmed again.

Since they couldn't take Charles back, she decided to talk to him every day, hoping to snap him out of it and stop Hannah and Austin's wedding.

But reality sucked. She came almost every morning with Patricia and stayed all day.

His younger siblings took turns visiting too. But still, no reaction.

Days flew by.

With just a few days left until Hannah's wedding, Charles was still out cold.

Stella was freaking out, "Charles, it's the 2nd. Only three days left. If you don't wake up, Hannah's gonna marry Austin! You'll regret it if you don't wake up."

The next day, Stella said, "Charles, it's the 3rd. Only two days left until Hannah's birthday. They're getting married in two days."

Stella sighed, "Charles, why haven't you woken up yet? It's the 4th. They're getting married tomorrow! I just called Hannah, and her parents have all the wedding docs ready."

Soon it was the 5th.

After Hannah gave in, Quentin's health got better day by day. Worried she'd change her mind, he locked her up at home the day before the wedding, not letting her out.

On the wedding day, Austin showed up early to pick her up.

Quentin grabbed the marriage papers and stuffed them in his pocket, saying, "I'll tag along. We'll get hitched here. Can't travel far with my health acting up."

Hannah knew Quentin was just making sure she wouldn't bail, so he was keeping a close eye on her.

"Your health's crap. No need to come with us! I get it, you're worried I'll back out, but I promised, and I won't flake," Hannah said, her voice flat and emotionless, like a robot.

Quentin saw right through her and felt a bit awkward.

He scratched his nose, trying to think of something to break the tension, but Austin jumped in first, "Hannah's right, your health's not great. You should stay put! Hannah's been so good, she won't do anything to upset you, don't worry."

Quentin knew Austin was giving him an out. After mulling it over, he figured Austin was right.

For the past couple of weeks, Hannah hadn't mentioned that guy and had been following his orders to date Austin.

She must've really made up her mind to be with Austin.

Hannah had always been obedient, so he decided to trust her one more time.

Quentin nodded, "Alright then! You go ahead. I'll have Lisa whip up something special at home to celebrate your wedding!"

"Okay!" Austin agreed with a grin.

Quentin added, "After you tie the knot, get Hannah to move out of the dorm. Didn't you rent a place?"

Austin corrected him, "I bought one."

After using the first apartment to lock up his biological mom, he bought another one.

He had bought it with the idea of living there with Violet after they got married.

Quentin nodded approvingly, "Good, since you bought a house, let her move in with you after the wedding. Newlyweds should live together."

Austin was all in. He'd been waiting for this day for over ten years.

Hannah stood quietly on the side, watching them plan, her eyes dull and emotionless.

Under Quentin's urging, Austin took Hannah's hand and they got into the Bentley parked at the door.

On the way, Hannah stayed eerily silent.

Austin knew she was unhappy, but thinking about their upcoming marriage, he believed that temporary pain didn't mean a lifetime of regret.

Violet would eventually fall in love with him and not regret today's decision.

The White Family's house was close to City Hall, and they got there in less than thirty minutes.

After parking the car at the entrance of City Hall, Austin tried to hold Hannah's hand and walk in together, but she dodged him.

She walked silently ahead by herself.

Austin's hand hung awkwardly in mid-air, his fingers twitching slightly before he pulled them back. He pretended nothing had happened and followed behind Hannah.

They climbed the tall steps together.

With each step, Hannah felt she was getting closer to hell.

It seemed like the City Hall steps were designed to be high and steep on purpose, giving couples a chance to rethink their decision to get married.

After climbing the tall steps, they finally stood at the entrance of City Hall.

Hannah stood there for a long time without stepping inside.

Austin thought she had changed her mind and got really nervous. Just as he was about to say something, Hannah took a step forward.

As she stepped over the threshold of City Hall, her phone in her pocket started ringing like crazy.
