Chapter 759 Hunter is Missing

The call came from Sunset Bay Psychiatric Hospital.

"Hello! Is this Patricia Watson?"

Patricia frowned, "Yeah, this is Patricia. Who's calling?"

"Hi, I'm the nurse for Hunter at Sunset Bay. Hunter's in trouble!"

Patricia's heart skipped a beat, "What happened?"

The nurse's voice trembled, "This morning, during rounds, we found Hunter missing from his room. We searched everywhere but couldn't find him. The surveillance footage showed two people, dressed as a doctor and a nurse, taking him away."

Patricia shot up from her chair, nearly knocking over her knife and fork, "Missing? How on earth did Hunter get snatched from your hospital by two strangers?"

The nurse sounded deeply apologetic, "I'm so sorry. This is entirely our fault."

"I get it. I'm coming back now. We'll talk more when I get there." Patricia ended the call abruptly, her appetite gone.

She turned to Martin, "Hunter's been taken from the hospital! We need to go back now."

Martin grabbed her hand, his voice steady, "Don't rush. If they took him quietly, it was planned. Rushing back won't help."

Patricia, frantic, asked, "So what do we do? Just ignore it?"

Hunter had always been there for her. When Gavin, Chloe, and Debbie bullied her, Hunter protected her. When Brooke nearly strangled her, Hunter saved her. No matter when he was young or old, even in his madness, he never forgot to protect her. She couldn't just let him be in danger.

Martin, seeing her distress, tried to calm her, "Think about it. Who would take him? He's been insane for years, no enemies. Who'd want to take him?"

Patricia took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Martin was right. Hunter had no enemies, maybe not even friends.

Martin continued, "If it was a friend, they'd have told us. Taking him quietly suggests an enemy. Who could it be?"

If it was an enemy, Hunter could be in serious danger.

Riley comforted, "Yeah, let's think this through. Could it be someone familiar?"

Sebastian added, "Panicking won't help. The more anxious you are, the more you need to stay calm."

Patricia sat back down, her mind racing. She ruminated, 'Who could it be? Who had a grudge against Hunter?'

Suddenly, her eyes widened as she remembered something.

At the same time, Brooke spoke up, "Could it be Joe?"

Everyone turned to Brooke. She blushed and looked down in shame, "That day, when I went to the hotel to find Patricia, I thought the guy in the hotel was that dead Hunter, so I called Joe. When I woke up in the hospital, I saw the call had gone through. It lasted seven minutes."

In other words, Joe had listened to their entire conversation.

Patricia's mind raced back to that conversation with Brooke.

"If you say he's not Hunter, then what's his name? Where did he live before? What was his job?"

"What's wrong? Can't you talk? You're lying. He is Hunter. You all covered for him, pretending he was dead. Patricia, you're so sneaky. If I hadn't found out, we'd all be fooled by you."

"If someone exists, there are always traces. You can't say anything because you're lying. He is Hunter, not some twin brother."

"If Joe finds out, don't blame me for telling Shane what you've done, Brooke."

"If that's what you think, I have nothing more to say! But if this gets out, neither you nor I will have a good time."

Patricia replayed the conversation with Brooke in her mind. The more she thought about it, the worse she felt.

If that's the case, Joe must be the one.

Patricia said, "It has to be him! He must think this Hunter is the one who killed his son! So he wants revenge."

Riley frowned, "If that's true, we're in big trouble."

Patricia nervously clutched her pants, "He's always wanted revenge for his son! Now that he's got Hunter, he won't let him go."

Martin gently patted her hand and pulled out his phone to call Alan, "Check  the airlines. See how many flights from Country Y to Country D there are today, including private jets. Then, look into the identities of everyone on those flights."

Alan replied, "Got it."

After ending the call, Martin tried to comfort Patricia, "Don't worry! If they've left Country Z, we'll find out. If they're still here, it'll be easier."

Patricia said irritably, "If I had known, I wouldn't have had Hunter cremated! Now there's no proof, and even if we say Hunter isn't Hunter, no one will believe us. And the psychiatric hospital he stayed in burned down, with all the records destroyed."

And the one who started that fire was Gabriel. The person who wanted to protect Hunter but ended up making things worse.

Riley said, "If he was cremated at a crematorium, there should be a certificate! I'll get the records."

Reminded by him, Patricia suddenly remembered, "Right! How could I forget? The crematorium should have surveillance! Get the records!"

This was their only way.

Riley said, "I'll have Joshua handle it right away!"

Martin reassured Patricia, "Don't worry! Let's wait for Alan's news first. If they've taken Hunter to Country D, we'll go there. If not, we'll head back to Country Z. This way, we save time and avoid a wasted trip."

Patricia nodded, "We can only wait for now."

Alan was quick. In less than two hours, he had all the information Martin asked for.

Alan said, "There are two flights to Country D today. One at nine in the morning and one at one in the afternoon. The nine o'clock flight has already taken off and will arrive at Country D's international airport at ten tonight. The one o'clock flight will take off in two hours and arrive at Country D's Charlotte International Airport at two in the morning. I've gathered all the passenger information, and there's something strange."

Alan frowned, "Hunter is on the nine o'clock flight! Isn't he dead? How could he be on that plane?"

He remembered that when Patricia came to Country Y to find Martin, she specifically handed over Hunter's ashes, asking him to find a good burial place.

So, how could Hunter, who was already dead, appear on the plane?
