Chapter 614 The First Meeting Between Father and Daughter

The next day, Patricia woke up early, but instead of rushing to see Dr. Tate, she went to the hospital first to take care of Martin's admission procedures and let him continue his treatment there.

Only after Martin was settled could she see Dr. Tate with peace of mind.

"Martin, I'm going to see Dr. Tate. You be a good boy and stay here. Call me if you need anything."

Martin tightly held her hand and said, "I'll come with you after my examinations."

Although he brought the medical records and all the examination results with him, after transferring to a new hospital, a new set of examinations had to be done out of responsibility to the patient.

Patricia accompanied Martin to all the examinations. Some results came out immediately, while others had to wait until the next day.

At the moment, Martin was undergoing treatment.

Patricia couldn't bear to let him accompany her, so she refused, "You wait here! Don't worry, I've been alone in a foreign country for five years. Nothing will happen to me."

"But..."

Martin still couldn't rest assured.

Patricia glared at him and said, "This is D country, not M country. What are you afraid of? On the contrary, I would be worried if you came with me."

Martin couldn't persuade her and, she finally had to compromise. "Don't worry, I'll come back to find you as soon as I meet Dr. Tate!"

After comforting Martin, Patricia hailed a taxi at the hospital entrance.

Dr. Tate lived in an upscale villa area.

The villa area was a bit far from the city center, at least a forty-minute drive.

All the people living here were influential and powerful in D country.

The driver dropped Patricia off at the entrance of the villa area and left.

There was a security booth at the entrance of the villa area.

As soon as she walked to the entrance, the security guard in the booth stopped her. "Nobody can enter or leave here at will!"

Patricia said quickly, "Do you know Maximilian Mr. Reed from Nexus Holdings Corporation? He asked me to come here!"

"Do you think I'm stupid?" the security guard scoffed. "Mr. Reed left at 7 a.m. Are you telling me he let you in? If I let anyone in, what's the point of my job?" The security guard looked Patricia up and down, not believing a word she said.

Knowing that this would happen, Patricia wasn't angry. She took out her phone and called Maximilian, putting it on speaker.

The security guard fell silent.

Soon, the call connected, and Maximilian's deep voice came through: "Sullivan!"

"Mr. Reed, I'm at the entrance of the villa area. My phone is on speaker. Can you talk to the security guard? He won't let me in."

A drop of cold sweat dripped down the security guard's forehead as he remained silent.

Maximilian chuckled softly and asked, "What's the guard's last name?"

The security guard fell silent.

Was there still time to return the work badge?

Patricia glanced at his work badge. "His name is Joe Green!"

Maximilian knew who it was and laughed, "Joe..."

The security guard broke out in a cold sweat, quickly trying to please: "Mr. Reed, it's me. It's Joe. I'm sorry. I didn't know she was your friend. I thought..."

Patricia fell silent.

The stark difference in attitude before and after was truly astonishing to her.

Maximilian said, "Sullivan is my friend. Please let her in, and I'll take full responsibility."

The security guard's smile froze for a moment, and then he hurriedly tried to make amends. "Of course, if you're Mr. Reed's friend, nothing will happen. I'll let her in right away."

After ending the call, the security guard's attitude underwent a significant change. He welcomed Patricia back with open arms.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were Mr. Reed's friend. Please come in quickly..."

Patricia finally managed to enter smoothly.

Inside, it was very spacious.

She couldn't see the end with just one glance.

As it was noon, the road was empty with not a single person in sight.

Only occasionally, a luxurious small car would pass by from behind.
Patricia took out Maximilian's address and started searching for number 001, following the numbers on the door.

"001...

"002..."

Just as she counted to 007, she suddenly bumped into a middle-aged man. The man's head was lowered, making it difficult to see his face. However, the presence of gray hair on his temples indicated that he was around fifty years old.

He emitted a faint fragrance.

The fragrance was familiar as if she had smelled it somewhere before, yet she couldn't remember where exactly.

The man gripped Patricia's arms to steady himself and anxiously looked behind him without glancing at Patricia. He urgently said, "If someone is looking for me, please don't say you've seen me!"

Finishing his words, he found a hiding spot in the bushes.

Just as he hid, a group of people ran towards them, their faces covered in sweat, showing signs of panic. Gasping for breath, they asked Patricia, "Miss, have you seen a man pass by here?"

Patricia thought they were gangsters, so she shook her head and replied, "No! I haven't seen anyone apart from the security guard at the entrance."

Although she was also puzzled.

Why would something like this happen in such a luxurious villa complex?

But with one side outnumbering her and the other person, she instinctively protected the weak.

The group leader was a man in his sixties. Despite his age, he had a strong physique and spoke with vigor. He wiped the sweat off his forehead with his sleeve and said, "I clearly saw him run towards this area. Why is there no one here?"

Someone behind him suggested, "Could it be that we are looking in the wrong place?"

The leader looked around before pointing to a road on the left, saying, "There are only two roads here. If he's not on this one, he must be on the other. Let's go check it out quickly."

In no time, everyone rushed towards the other road.

Only when they confirmed there was no sound did the man in the bushes emerge and thank Patricia,

"Miss, thank you! If it weren't for you, they would have definitely captured me and taken me back. I'm running out of time, so I have to go. I'll properly thank you in the future if there's a chance."

After saying this, he walked towards the entrance.

From beginning to end, he didn't carefully look at Patricia's face.

Though Patricia didn't want to meddle, for some unknown reason, this man always gave her a strange feeling. Watching him leave, she subconsciously grabbed his arm.

"Why are they trying to capture you?" she asked.

As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized she might have been too nosy.

Unfortunately, it was too late to take back her words.

The man stopped and turned his head, his gaze falling on Patricia's face.

At the moment he saw her, he froze, his eyes widening in disbelief and tumultuous waves surging in them.

His eyes reddened instantly, and he grabbed Patricia's wrist tightly. "Patricia, you finally came back to find me... Do you know how much I have missed you all these years?"

Patricia asked in astonishment, "How do you know my name?"

She didn't remember knowing this man.
