Chapter 1038 Make Sure Carter Never Wakes Up
At night, Lassie stayed in the ward to keep watch.
Since Carter had passed the critical stage and didn't need so many people around, Austin, Ryan, and Martin were sent back to the hotel to rest. They were to be notified immediately if Carter woke up.
Everyone had been on edge these past few days. Seeing that Carter was finally out of danger, their nerves relaxed, and they agreed to go back to the hotel to rest, taking turns to care for Carter at the hospital.
Back at the hotel, Austin was restless.
He sat down, then stood up again, pacing back and forth in the room.
After walking for a while, he sat down again.
After repeating this several times, he finally couldn't hold back and took out his phone to call Tina.
When the call connected, Tina's tone was noticeably tense.
"What happened? Have we been discovered?"
They usually communicated via text and rarely called.
Whenever Austin called, it was always something extremely urgent, and urgent matters were never good.
"My father is about to wake up," Austin said.
Tina only knew that something had happened to Austin's father. Austin hadn't told her the specifics, and she hadn't asked.
Now it seemed that whatever happened to Austin's father was not simple.
"Austin, what happened? What exactly happened to your father? Why are you so scared that he's waking up?"
Although Austin was good at hiding his emotions, she knew him too well. He had only said one sentence, and while he sounded calm, she could hear the fear and terror hidden beneath.
"My father found out that I hid Hannah here."
Austin briefly recounted the events of the past few days to Tina.
He only mentioned the important parts, leaving out some of the less critical details.
"What should I do? If my father wakes up, all my secrets will no longer be secrets. Charles will also know that I hid Hannah here, and he will definitely come to take her away. I'm not afraid of losing my reputation or being abandoned by everyone. I'm just afraid of losing Hannah. If they find out that I hid Hannah, no matter where I take her, they will find me! I can't lose Hannah!"
They could hide.
Charles and his people wouldn't find them immediately.
But Charles wouldn't be unable to find them forever.
Now that he had hidden Hannah, Tina was handling everything, so Charles naturally couldn't find Hannah.
But he couldn't avoid cameras forever.
Banks, ATMs, even using a phone, various registrations, and photos, he would eventually come into contact with them.
Once he did, his whereabouts would be exposed.
The world was big, but there was no place for him to hide.
"Austin, why don't we give up? There are plenty of women out there, not just Hannah! You really don't need to go to such lengths for her and end up being abandoned by everyone. I don't want to see you end up like that," Tina suggested.
But Austin was unusually determined and said firmly, "No, there are many women in the world, but I only want her."
Tina felt a sharp pain in her chest, a heavy discomfort weighing her down.
Since Austin said that, she didn't continue to persuade him.
She understood too well what it was like to love someone.
She couldn't even convince herself, so how could she convince Austin?
She liked Austin; wasn't it the same?
She knew she was wrong, but she was willing to keep making mistakes for him.
Letting go of him was harder than holding on to those mistakes.
"What are you going to do?" Tina asked.
Austin sat on the sofa, holding his phone in one hand and painfully running his other hand through his thick hair, gripping it tightly.
"I don't know, I don't know! I really don't know what to do."
Tina tentatively asked, "How about I find someone to kill your father for you?"
"No!" Austin rejected it immediately, without even thinking, and very agitatedly.
Tina didn't expect such a strong reaction from him and was stunned for a moment.
Austin realized he had overreacted and quickly calmed down, explaining, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you."
Tina wasn't angry and said calmly, "I know! You don't need to explain."
Austin muttered to himself, "I just hope he can stay asleep like this, not wake up, but also not be in any danger. Just stay asleep, that would be great! I like him asleep."
"If you want him to stay asleep, then let him stay asleep!"
Tina's tone was still very calm, as if she were talking about something very ordinary.
Austin suddenly looked up, as if he had found a lifeline. "Do you have a way?"
Tina replied, "Yes! I can hypnotize him and make him live in a dream forever! The world in the dream will be exactly like the real world, he won't be able to tell the difference between the dream and reality, so he will stay asleep."
Austin's eyes lit up immediately.
"Really? Will this affect his health?"
Tina explained, "Whether a patient or a normal person, lying in bed for a long time will cause muscle atrophy! This is normal! The Moore family has money, they can hire a home nurse to take care of him, and with daily exercises, it won't be a problem."
Austin accepted her suggestion almost without hesitation.
"You're right! As long as my father is alive, if he can live happily in his own dream world for the rest of his life, I'll be satisfied."
Seeing his tone finally lighten, Tina couldn't help but feel happy too.
"But I have to do the hypnosis myself! I'm currently watching over Hannah, so it's not convenient for me to go out!"
Austin asked, "How long can your hypnosis make her sleep?"
Tina said, "As long as there are no external disturbances, she will stay asleep as long as I don't wake her."
Austin thought for a moment and then said, "Tomorrow night, I'll find a way to stay and keep watch. Then you can hypnotize Hannah to sleep at home, and then go to the hospital."
Tina readily agreed, "Okay!"
The country wasn't that big.
Although she and Austin were not in the same city, it wouldn't take long to drive there.
A round trip would take about five hours.
She was willing to do anything for Austin.
Austin said, "Alright! Then wait for my message tomorrow!"
"Okay!"
After ending the call, Austin felt much more relaxed.
With Tina's help, he was no longer afraid of Carter waking up.
The next day, Austin insisted on staying to keep watch over Carter.
After Lassie and the others left for the hotel, Austin sent a message to Tina, asking her to come over quickly and providing her with detailed information about the hospital and the ward.
In less than three hours, Tina arrived.
Austin asked nervously, "There shouldn't be any problems, right?"
Tina shook her head, "No, there won't be any problems. You know what I can do; I'm very confident."
Austin finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Tina pulled up a chair and sat by the bedside, starting to hypnotize Carter.
Austin stood quietly by the side, watching her nervously.
He occasionally opened the door to check outside, afraid that nurses or doctors would come in for rounds.
On his third attempt to open the door to look outside, he saw Martin and Ryan walking down the hallway.
Austin's heart instantly tightened, and he was so startled that his hand shook, almost getting caught in the door frame.
