Chapter 607 Martin's Plan

The atmosphere in the hospital room grew dense, the air heavy with the weight of the topic at hand. Patricia was afraid that this atmosphere would directly affect Martin's mood and subsequent condition, so she deliberately broke the silence and said, "I heard that my sister-in-law is expecting?" she inquired, referring to Lassie. At the mention of the child growing within her, a soft, maternal expression washed over Lassie's face. She instinctively caressed her still-flat belly, a blush creeping up her cheeks as she nodded in confirmation. "We're almost at the three-month mark," she confessed."That's wonderful," Patricia exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement. "It's the best news I've heard in quite some time.""Carter mentioned that regardless of whether it's a boy or a girl, they'll be companions to your children," Lassie added.Patricia didn't hesitate before nodding in agreement. "I think that's a splendid idea! I have both sons and daughters, so they can choose their companions as they please."Ryan, too, was moved by the sentiment. He quickly extended his hand, declaring, "I want my sister-in-law's child to marry mine as well!"Jade Williams caught his slip of the tongue and shot him a glance. "You're still thinking about marriage at your age? You've got some nerve, haven't you?"Ryan's face immediately flushed. "What nonsense are you spouting? I'm talking about my child getting married! We have plenty of children in our family, so I'm just staking a claim early."Jade Williams scoffed. "Where are these children of yours? They don't even exist yet. You're not even certain you'll find a wife, let alone have children."Ryan cast a meaningful glance at her flat belly. "Really? Perhaps we should have it checked. There might already be an embryo."Jade Williams felt a jolt of discomfort at his gaze. Her face turned a deep shade of red, matching her flushed ears. "Stop your nonsense, or I'll give you a piece of my mind."Observing her blush, Ryan was reminded of something, causing his own ears to inexplicably redden. Carter and Martin noticed his reaction. Carter couldn't help but ask, "Ryan, why are you blushing?"Ryan had a peculiar trait. His ears would turn red whenever he felt shy. Unlike others whose faces would redden with embarrassment, it was his ears that betrayed his feelings. The question only served to heighten his embarrassment. He rubbed his ears, avoiding eye contact, and muttered, "No, you're mistaken."Patricia found the exchange odd. Although she knew Jade and Ryan often bickered, she had never seen Jade openly antagonize Ryan as if they harbored a grudge against each other. This was a stark departure from Jade's usual demeanor. However, their petty squabble had the unintended effect of lightening the mood in the hospital room. The children's marriages were inexplicably arranged. They lingered in the hospital room for a while longer, careful not to disturb Martin's rest, before they took their leave. Not long after their departure, the hospital room door creaked open again. Fannie and Randy Langley burst in, with Charles trailing behind them, his steps steady and composed. The children made a beeline for Martin, flinging themselves onto the bed and enveloping him in a tight hug."Dad, you're not dead... It's really great... You're not dead... We miss you so much... We thought we would never see you again," they sobbed, their words causing Martin's eyes to well up with tears. He tenderly stroked Fannie's head with one hand and Randy Langley's with the other, his voice hoarse as he whispered, "Dad misses you all too..."He had thought he wouldn't get the chance to see them again before his death. He hadn't expected to be granted the opportunity to reunite with them today.

Fannie lifted her gaze, her lips pursed in a pout. Discontentment laced her words as she asked, "Dad, why did you return now? Where have you been all this time? We thought you were dead, we cried until our tears ran dry."Martin's lips twitched into a slight smile, "I was caught up in some matters. But now that they're resolved, I've come back to see you all."Fannie's innocent eyes blinked in curiosity, "Then why were you staying in the hospital? Were you ill?"Martin nodded, "Yes, I was unwell, but there's no need for you to worry. I'll recover soon."With her simplistic mindset, Fannie didn't question further. She smiled and said, "Then Dad, get well soon so we can go home."Martin returned her smile, "Okay, I'll recover soon!"At this, Randy Langley also looked up, his voice filled with eagerness, "Dad, does this mean you won't leave us again in the future?"Martin's throat tightened. He didn't want to worry them, but he couldn't bear to deceive them either. After a moment, he managed a reluctant smile and nodded, "Yes."Randy Langley and Fannie cheered in unison, "That's wonderful! Dad will never leave us again. Our family is finally reunited."Seeing their innocent smiles, a bitter sadness welled up in Martin's heart, his eyes growing moist.

Charles and Patricia's eyes were red-rimmed as well. Charles bit his lip, holding back the tears threatening to spill. He was aware of his Dad's condition. The promise of never leaving again was just to comfort Fannie and Randy. The harsh reality was, no one knew how much longer their Dad had.
The thought of losing his Dad again filled Charles with sorrow. The three children stayed in the hospital room for a while longer, the family sharing a meal together before Patricia had John drive them home. That night, Alan arrived. Martin relayed the latest developments to him. "As you predicted, Dorian began selling his shares and preparing to leave the United States as soon as he returned home. I seized the opportunity and bought all his shares, following your instructions."Ian, due to his involvement in drug trafficking, had his 5% shares revoked by Mr. Langley. "Mr. Langley personally drafted an agreement to transfer the full 5% to you."In essence, aside from a few minor shareholders, Martin now held a total of 70% of the Langley Group shares. With his original 55%, plus Ian's 5% and Dorian's 10%, he had the majority stake in the Langley Group.Patricia, taken aback, asked, "What exactly is going on?"

She had a feeling they knew more than she did.Martin laughed and said, "Silly girl, think about it. Dorian is a well-known figure in Ivara City. Now that his son's homosexuality has been exposed, do you think he can still stay in Ivara City? He'll definitely sell his shares as soon as possible and leave."Patricia nodded, indicating her understanding.Martin continued, "The shares Ian held were originally given to him by Shane. Shane knew Ian was incapable, but he was still his grandson. He gave him 5% of the shares, hoping he could live comfortably in his later years. Unfortunately, they weren't satisfied and wanted more."It was no surprise that he showed them no mercy.Patricia remembered something and asked, "Didn't Dorian kidnap you? How did you escape? And what about Declan? Didn't Dorian also take him away? How did you rescue him?"
