Chapter 721 Contempt
Martin pressed his thin lips together and said flatly, "No matter what schemes he's got, kidnapping Ryan, then releasing him, and even having Ryan deliver a message to me, it shows he's an arrogant, conceited jerk."
Patricia responded, "Yeah, that kind of behavior is really detestable."
It felt like he was playing us like fiddles.
Patricia had never met anyone so haughty in her life.
Martin squinted, a slight curve appearing on his lips.
He was smiling.
But his eyes showed no joy.
"Since we know he's arrogant, it makes things easier."
Patricia looked at him, "Got a plan?"
When Martin looked at Patricia, his cold eyes softened. He reached out and ruffled her hair, "I promised not to let you get hurt. I'll catch Hunter's fellows."
Patricia, scared, grabbed his hand, "You won't get hurt, right? I can't let you take risks."
Martin held her hand and gently patted it, "Don't worry, I won't get hurt! We've come this far, and I still want to get old with you, watching our kids grow up and start their own families!"
Patricia was still worried, "Are you sure you'll be fine?"
Martin nodded firmly, "Yes, I promise. I won't get hurt."
Patricia knew Martin wouldn't fight a battle he wasn't confident in.
Since he said so, he must already have a plan.
Time passed quietly.
Soon, it's the day when Hunter's fellows said they'd come to rescue Hunter.
The wine cellar was surrounded by layers of bodyguards, so tight not even a fly could get in.
Inside and out, surveillance cameras were everywhere.
Hunter was being monitored almost without any blind spots.
Patricia, Martin, Sebastian, Joe, Kaleb, Susan, and Carol were all crowded in the surveillance room, watching the wine cellar.
Carol said, "The wine cellar is so tightly guarded now. I don't believe anyone can rescue him from here."
Susan glanced at Joe and said mockingly, "Are you the enemy within?"
Joe was stunned for a moment, not understanding what she meant.
"What do you mean?"
Susan gave a sarcastic smile, "Collaborating with outsiders to rescue that bastard."
Joe's face immediately darkened.
"Do you think I'm that kind of person?"
Susan smiled with sarcasm, "Who knows! We've been married for decades, and I didn't know you had a illegitimate son!"
Joe was so angry that he almost spat blood.
"I've told you several times. That was before we got married. After we got married, I haven't done anything sorry for you!"
"That's just what you say. Whether you did or not, only you know best."
Susan wouldn't listen.
As long as Hunter was alive, Susan would never bear it.
It was impossible for Susan to give a good look before Joe and Hunter.
An unprecedented sense of helplessness surrounded Joe.
Since Billy died, Susan seemed to have become a different person.
She couldn't stand Joe, constantly nitpicking, as if she wanted to vent all the pain of losing Billy on Joe.
Seeing that they were about to argue again, Carol quickly took Susan's arm and pulled her aside, "Mom, It's not the time to argue! No matter what, let's catch Hunter's fellows first."
Susan's entire hope now rested on Carol.
Carol was the only one who could calm Susan down.
After hearing Carol's words, Susan immediately quieted down.
Patricia gave them a deep look, sighed helplessly, and shifted her gaze back to the monitor.
Time ticked by, second by second.
The appointed time was getting closer.
When the clock struck 8 a.m., there was still no movement at the wine cellar.
Kaleb said uneasily, "Could he be playing trick on us? I mean, who'd be dumb enough to announce a rescue?"
Anyone who'd do that would either be a psycho or a fool.
Martin curled his lips coldly and said with certainty, "No, he'll come."
Kaleb asked, "Why are you so sure?"
Martin replied, "He made so many efforts to burn down the mental hospital and kidnap Ryan. Yet, he didn't use Ryan to exchange for Hunter but instead told us he'd come to rescue him today."
"This proves he's very arrogant and confident in his abilities."
"Such a confident and arrogant person said he'd come. He wouldn't fail to show up!"
"Maybe he's already infiltrated and is waiting for the right moment to rescue Hunter."
Kaleb was so tense that his shirt was soaked with sweat.
Everyone perked up, eyes fixed on the monitor, not daring to look away.
At that moment, two men dressed in black flipped down from the roof, each delivering a chop to the back of the guards' necks at the door.
The guards fell instantly, drawing the attention of the others, who swarmed in and surrounded the two men in black.
The two men in black had short hair, wore masks, and their exposed skin was dark and rough, clearly indicating they were trained killers.
"They've appeared."
Seeing the two men in black on the monitor, Kaleb's heart was in his throat.
Susan and Carol immediately walked over, eyes staring screen.
The two men in black moved swiftly and efficiently. As Susan and Carol walked over, they saw the last two guards fall to the ground.
Everyone broke into a cold sweat.
Patricia said in disbelief, "These two are incredibly skilled! They took down a dozen professionally trained guards so easily!"
After a pause, she added, "These two move in the same speed and use the same techniques! It's like they have telepathy as a twin."
It was precisely because of this that they could easily take down a dozen guards.
Carol said, "No wonder he's so arrogant. Turns out it's not just one person!"
No one said anything.
The atmosphere became tense.
They watched as one of the men in black pulled out a handgun and shot the lock.
The wine cellar door opened as soon as the bang was heard.
The surveillance screen switched from outside to inside.
After entering, the two men in black quickly took down the guards inside. The large wine cellar was filled with fallen bodies.
One of the men in black found the unconscious Hunter lying on the ground, slung Hunter's arm over his shoulder, and held Hunter's waist to lift him up.
The other man in black looked at the camera.
His face appeared clearly on the monitor, with an evil smile.
Even though he was wearing a mask, everyone could tell he was smiling.
Smiling arrogantly and triumphantly.
Everyone in front of the monitor was puzzled.
Sebastian gritted his teeth and said, "Is he taunting us?"
It was obvious he was sneering at their incompetence.
As soon as Sebastian finished speaking, they saw the man in black held out his right hand towards the camera, giving a thumbs-up, then turned it downward and pointed forcefully.
