Chapter 703 Taking A Similar Strategy
Watching as Hunter drove the black sedan, about to collide with the black SUV in front.
At this critical moment, the sound of the car scraping the ground was very loud.
The black sedan came to an urgent stop less than half a foot from the front of the black SUV.
Patricia screamed, her body inertia causing her to bounce out, then pulled back by the seatbelt.
The scene seemed to freeze at that moment.
Patricia stared in horror, forgetting to breathe, at the scene in front of her.
At the moment Hunter's car rushed past, the car in front that was ready to intercept them also slammed on the brakes urgently, stopping in the middle of the road.
Patricia's heart was pounding.
She shifted her gaze to Hunter.
Hunter tightly gripped the steering wheel, veins bulging on the back of his hand from the exertion.
He looked ahead with resentment.
In the end, he couldn't bring himself to harm Patricia and stopped the car at the last moment before the collision.
Hunter loved Patricia.
Despite Patricia repeatedly hurting him, he still loved her.
He couldn't bring himself to kill his beloved Patricia.
He could be ruthless toward everyone else, except for Patricia.
After a brief daze, Patricia quickly reacted, unbuckling her seatbelt, opening the door, ready to escape.
As Patricia opened the door from the inside, Martin happened to open it from the outside.
Martin immediately pulled Patricia into his arms, holding her tightly, anxiously asking, "Patricia, are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Martin's chaotic heartbeat, like drums, echoed in Patricia's ears.
All of Patricia's fear and unease vanished at that moment.
"I'm fine."
Although Patricia said so, Martin was still worried, pulling Patricia out of his arms, carefully checking her condition.
When he saw Patricia's swollen face, he was very angry.
"Did he hit you?" Martin asked.
Patricia shook her head. "It's okay, just a slap! As long as we can catch him, this small sacrifice is inevitable."
Martin reproached, "I told you earlier, as soon as he appears, we should catch him immediately, but you didn't agree."
Patricia knew Martin was worried about her, cupping Martin's face, coaxing him. "I was afraid he had accomplices. Without this incident, how could we lure out his accomplices?"
On the plane back to the Country Y, Martin truthfully told them everything.
In fact, from the day Joe was lured to Neon Bridge, after they personally demonstrated the truth, Joe believed in Patricia's innocence.
However, there were still many doubts left unresolved.
To dispel all doubts, Martin and Joe discussed and decided to adopt a strategy similar to the opponent's to deal with them.
Since the opponent's target was Patricia, they would use her to lure out the real culprit behind the scenes.
In fact, Martin had long suspected that the real culprit might be Hunter, but it was just a guess without confirmation.
That day in prison, when Carol almost got caught taking Patricia away, and Thomas came to rescue them at Joe's behest, deliberately letting them leave.
To make things realistic and not let the mastermind behind the scenes see through their plan, only Martin and Joe knew about the plan to catch the real culprit, while the others showed genuine emotions.
Originally, Martin didn't want Patricia to take risks. The initial plan was to catch the mastermind as soon as they appeared.
However, Patricia disagreed.
If the real culprit were indeed Hunter, Patricia wanted to use this opportunity to find Hunter's accomplices.
However, through observation, it seemed they had misjudged.
Hunter had no accomplices.
It was all Hunter's doing alone.
Martin looked around. "His place has been thoroughly searched several times; there should be no accomplices."
If there were accomplices, they would have met.
Patricia sighed. "Even after being taken away for a day and a night, I didn't find any accomplices."
Martin gently stroked Patricia's swollen face, smiling. "It's all over now."
Finally, it was over.
Patricia nodded, her eyes slightly red.
"Yes! It's all over!"
Without Hunter, they could all finally relax.
Meanwhile, Sebastian rushed over with his men and pulled Hunter out of the driver's seat.
Thinking of the thrilling scene just now, Sebastian was furious. Sebastian, who never harmed others, broke his principle for the first time and punched Hunter in the face.
Hunter was knocked to the ground.
Hunter didn't feel the pain, wiping away the blood from the corner of his mouth, a wicked smile playing on his lips.
At this moment, Martin led Patricia over, looking down at Hunter, expressionless. "Hunter, you've done so many bad things; now you'll have to face the consequences!"
Hunter bit his lips.
He laughed.
There was a self-mocking and disdainful look on his face.
He seemed indifferent to it.
Martin said expressionlessly, "Did you think monitoring us from all angles would make us powerless against you? Whether in the past or now, you will always be my defeated subordinate."
Hunter chuckled indifferently. "You are right. I have nothing to say."
Although he was reluctant to admit it, he had indeed lost.
He lost to the person he least wanted to lose to.
Hunter had planned for a lifetime, never putting anyone in his eyes.
Everyone was either toyed with or controlled by Hunter.
Except for Martin.
Hunter gave his all but couldn't defeat him.
Every time Hunter thought he was about to win, he ended up losing.
He was completely defeated this time.
Martin no longer looked at Hunter, turning to Sebastian. "Lock him up first! We'll wait for Mr. Hill to arrive before deciding what to do."
Sebastian nodded, commanding the bodyguards, "Take him away."
The two black-clad bodyguards who had been following Sebastian approached, one on each side, lifted him up from the ground, and pushed him into the black SUV.
As Hunter passed by Patricia, he stopped, staring deeply at Patricia, whom he had spared no effort to obtain, his smile becoming increasingly sinister.
His gaze was like that of a wild beast lurking in the shadows.
It was chilling.
Hunter's eyes were too eerie, causing Patricia to feel a sense of fear, shivering and feeling a bit scared.
Hunter had failed.
Even though they had won, Patricia still felt Hunter's gaze was terrifying.
As Hunter was escorted into the car, the feeling persisted.
Feeling Patricia trembling in his arms, Martin embraced her, gently patting her back, whispering, "Don't be afraid. I'm here for you."
Patricia pressed tightly against Martin's chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, her anxious heart finally calming down.
