Chapter 164 Martin Asserts Dominance Over Hunter

Patricia furrowed her brow. "Drunk? Why did he start drinking?"

Wasn't he doing fine at the hospital recently?

He seemed to be in a good mood.

Carter's voice grew more anxious: "I don't know, something must have really upset him. He’s in a bad place right now and won't talk about it. He just keeps drinking. I'm afraid he'll drink himself to death if you don't come. Ryan is also close to reaching his limit. No matter what, Martin has helped you a few times, you can't just abandon him now!"

Hearing the urgency in Carter's voice, Patricia realized the situation was more serious than she thought.

If she didn't go, she would indeed appear heartless and uncaring.

She hesitated, glancing at Hunter, wrestling with her thoughts for a moment, then nodded. "Okay! Send me the address, I'll head over right away!"

After ending the call, Patricia apologized with a regretful expression, "I'm sorry, I need to leave for a bit! I'll make it up to you tomorrow."

Hunter picked up the car keys on the table and said, "I'll drive you there."

Without a second thought, Patricia declined. "No need, you haven't had dinner yet and we've just sat down. I'll just take a taxi."

Hunter smiled, "The roads are slippery with snow, it might be difficult to hail a cab. You seem quite anxious, let me take you. Besides, I might be able to help if something comes up."

After pondering for a moment, Patricia realized he had a point.

It might indeed be hard to catch a taxi in these weather conditions, and Carter seemed very urgent. So she accepted Hunter's offer.

Before leaving, Hunter picked up the tap water from the table and drank it down to the last drop. The cold tap water washed away the spiciness of the skewers, bringing immediate relief.

Following the location sent by Carter, Hunter arrived at the Night Paris Club.

Patricia unbuckled her seat belt, saying, "Thank you, I can go in by myself!"

Hunter raised his eyebrow, teasing her playfully, "What? Use me and then just leave?"

Confused, Patricia hurriedly explained, worried that he misunderstood, "No, that's not what I meant! I just didn't want to trouble you further."

Hunter unbuckled his seat belt: "I was just joking! Since I'm already here, I might as well come in with you. Who knows, I might be able to help with something."

Not wanting to create any further misunderstandings, Patricia didn't refuse any further and they headed to the VIP room where Martin was.

After downing several bottles of alcohol, Ryan could no longer hold himself up and collapsed on the sofa, resembling a pile of mush.

Martin, too, seemed to have had a lot to drink. His eyes were closed as he leaned against the leather sofa, his handsome face flushed and his thick eyebrows furrowed in discomfort.

Carter sat silently to the side, tiredly pinching the bridge of his nose. When he heard the door open, he slowly lifted his head: "Patricia, you're finally... "

He stopped mid-sentence when he saw Hunter following behind Patricia and gave Martin a meaningful glance.

He had finally understood why Martin was drowning his sorrows in alcohol. It was really because of Patricia.

Carter stood up, his lips curving slightly in a polite and graceful manner, extending his hand to Hunter. "Mr. Miller, hello! I didn't expect to see you here,” he said.

Hunter reached out and shook his hand and replied, "I didn't expect to run into you here either, what a coincidence."

Patricia, with incredulous eyes, exclaimed, "You two know each other?"

Carter explained, "Two years ago, the Moore Group was expanding overseas and had the opportunity to collaborate with the Miller Group. Without Mr. Miller’s help, the Moore Group wouldn't have been able to stabilize so quickly in the U.S."

Patricia nodded, finally understanding.

"Then, since he's planning to establish a subsidiary in Ivara City, perhaps you could lend him a hand as well?"

Carter looked at Hunter in surprise. "Mr. Miller, you're planning to set up a subsidiary in Ivara City?"

Hunter smiled smoothly. "The Miller Group is indeed considering it, which is why they sent me to explore the possibilities. It's still just in the early stages for now."

Taking him at his word, Carter replied readily, "If Mr. Miller needs anything, feel free to reach out to me any time!"

Hunter smiled. "Great! I'll be sure to do that."

After finishing their conversation, Carter glanced at a heavily intoxicated Martin and sighed. "Patricia, Martin is really drunk, you should take him home first!"

Patricia nodded and walked over to the couch, gently patting Martin's face, "Hey, Martin, Martin..."

Martin slowly opened his heavy eyelids.

Even though Patricia was backlit and her features hard to make out, he instantly recognized her. Thinking he was dreaming; he couldn't help but reach out and touch her face.

Her skin felt cool to the touch, lacking warmth.

It must be a dream, he thought. Patricia must be on a date with Hunter right now. How could she be here?

Martin let out a self-mocking smile, his hand slowly moving to the back of Patricia's head—

Patricia didn't mind, showing concern, "Do you have the strength? Can you get up? I..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Martin suddenly exerted pressure with his arm, capturing the back of her head and pushing her face down, his lips finding hers with precision.

The kiss was forceful and possessive, as if staking a claim.

With a loud bang, Patricia was stunned, her ears ringing as if fireworks were exploding, her mind a blur of confusion.

Seizing the moment of her astonishment, Martin thrusted forward, intensifying the storm within her mouth.

For a brief moment, everything stood still.

Carter and Hunter were shocked by Martin's impulsive action.

Hunter's facial features tensed unpleasantly, a deep coldness flashing in the depths of his typically gentle eyes, concealing an unsettlingly intense emotion.

"Cough, cough..." Carter awkwardly cleared his throat.

Suddenly, Patricia snapped out of her daze, pushing Martin away and delivered a fierce slap across his face.

With a slap Martin sobered up, his senses returning in an instant.

Clutching his stinging cheek, he blinked hard, finally realizing that it wasn't a dream, Patricia had really come.

Still filled with anger, Patricia aimed for another slap.

Noticing her intention, Carter quickly ran over and intercepted her hand, "Patricia, Martin's just drunk. He didn't mean it; let’s not be too harsh on him."

Overwhelmed with shame and anger, her face as red as a boiled shrimp.

Carter quickly tried to divert her attention, "Patricia, let's help him out together! Did you drive here?"

Hunter's eyes narrowed ominously as he stepped forward with a smile, "She’s a girl, she probably can't lift him. Let me help you!"

Carter hesitated for a moment, his plans slightly thrown off, but he nodded in agreement.

The two of them, one on each side, lifted Martin up from the couch.

By then, Martin had sobered up quite a bit. Seeing Hunter, he made no effort to hide his hostility and deliberately shifting his weight onto him.

Hunter felt it but kept him up without letting it look like her was struggling.
