Chapter 1175 Regret

Austin didn't seem worried that Hannah would run away. He personally escorted her to the back room, leaving only the driver who brought them to guard the front door.

"Why? Why doesn't he love me? Why?"

"It's all your fault. You're useless. You still haven't avenged your father."

"What's the point of having you?"

"I sent you to the Moore family for twenty years, letting you live a life of luxury. But you're useless. You couldn't even win against Charles for a woman."

"Go, go kill them for me. Avenge your father."

"Why? Why didn't your dad like me? Why?"

"Austin, you're the only family I have left. Don't leave me. If you leave, what will I do?"

"Austin, look, I saved you. No one can hurt you. I'll protect you."

"You like that girl Violet, don't you? I'll make sure she can never leave you. I'll find a way to keep her by your side."

"You're just as useless as your father. Ruining your life over a woman."

"We'll never get our revenge. Never. Your father will never rest in peace. Ha ha ha."

"How did I give birth to such a worthless son?"

Karen's hysterical screams echoed clearly in Hannah's ears.

Hannah furrowed her brows slightly, a crazy thought suddenly popping into her mind.

Could it be that this woman threw Austin at the Moore Mansion's door all those years ago to get revenge for her husband?

Was their enemy her father, Carter?

The thought sent a shiver down Hannah's spine, filling her with an inexplicable sense of dread.

Carter had been raising the son of his enemy all this time for twenty years.

They never knew when Austin might have tried to harm them.

Austin must have known for a long time that he wasn't the Moore family's biological son.

When did he find out? Had he secretly done anything to Carter over the years?

The thought made Hannah shudder.

She had to admit, Austin had hidden it very well. All these years, and no one had suspected a thing.

Hannah couldn't help but rub her face vigorously.

So, were they hiding here now because they had given up on revenge?

Did this mean her father was temporarily safe?

Hannah was lost in her thoughts and didn't even notice when Austin came in.

It wasn't until Austin gave her shoulder a firm pat that she snapped back to reality.

"What were you thinking about so deeply?" Austin asked.

Hannah didn't dare tell him her suspicions. She glanced at the back room and asked, "How's your mom? When will she release Oliver?"

Austin looked apologetic. "She took her medication and fell asleep. As soon as she wakes up, I'll have her call to release Oliver."

Hannah was irritated. "You better keep your word!"

She paused, then added, "Where's my room? I'm tired and want to rest."

Austin seemed to realize something and quickly said, "Come, I'll show you to your room."

It was a self-built two-story house. The first floor had a living room and two rooms at the back, with a separate kitchen behind them. The second floor had three rooms.

Hannah's room was on the far left, with Austin's room next to hers.

Though it was an old house, it was clean, and the bed linens were new. The room also had incense, which made Hannah feel a bit more comfortable.

Austin stood at Hannah's door, watching her intently. Worried she might be scared by his mother, he hesitated before saying, "My mom's not usually like this. She only acts up when she's super stressed. She's a bit out of it, but she won't hurt you."

Hannah replied indifferently, "I don't care how she is. Just make sure she keeps her promise and releases Oliver."

"Don't worry. Even if she doesn't agree, I'll convince her." Austin continued, "There are new clothes in the wardrobe for you. This is an old house, so there's no bathroom in the room. If you want to shower, you'll have to go downstairs. There are new toiletries in the wardrobe drawer. If you need anything else, just let me know. I'm right next door."

"Got it," Hannah replied impatiently and slammed the door shut.

Once in the room, she checked it thoroughly to make sure there were no cameras before lying down on the bed.

She hadn't slept in a bed for nearly a month.

After traveling for almost a month and spending so much time in a van, her body was aching. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she yawned and fell into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, it was already evening.

Hannah jolted awake, sitting up quickly. She scanned the room to make sure she was alone, then sighed in relief and gently touched her stomach.

As if sensing she was awake, there was a knock on the door, followed by Austin's voice. "Hannah, are you awake? It's time to eat."

Hannah gathered herself, walked to the door, and opened it.

The light from outside spilled in, casting a soft glow on her face.

Austin smiled warmly at her. "I'm here to take you downstairs for dinner. I figured you must be awake by now."

Hannah asked flatly, "Where's your mom?"

Austin replied, "She's already downstairs waiting for us."

Hearing that the woman was awake, Hannah pushed past him and hurried downstairs.

Karen was already seated at the dining table. When she saw Hannah, she said coolly, "You sure can sleep. The food's gone cold."

Hannah sat across from her and urged, "Call them now and have them release Oliver."

Karen picked up her utensils and slowly took a bite of food, not responding.

Frustrated, Hannah grabbed her hand, raising her voice. "I'm talking to you! You promised that if I came with Austin, you'd release Oliver immediately. I'm here now. You can't go back on your word."

Karen smiled and calmly set her fork down. "Do you really think I'd be foolish enough to release him?"

Hannah and Austin's faces changed instantly.

Hannah's face turned from red to pale, looking extremely upset.

She grabbed Karen's collar, shouting angrily, "You lied to me! You're a liar!"

Karen smiled slightly, gently pushing Hannah's hand away. "Don't be so harsh. I'm just keeping a backup plan for myself."

Hannah trembled with anger. "Release Oliver now, or I'll leave immediately."

Karen raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Leave? Sure. If you can walk out, I'll let you go."

Seeing Karen's confident expression, Hannah was speechless with rage.

She suddenly felt incredibly foolish.

She should never have trusted these people who had done so much evil from the start.
