Chapter 668 Deliberate Murder Revealed
Seeing Martin miraculously climb out, Ryan couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh my!" Then he hung up the phone and had the rescue team take him over.
It was already autumn.
The water was especially cold.
Martin's clothes were all soaked, his hair dripping wet.
Ryan immediately took off his jacket and draped it over Martin. "Martin, what are you doing? Your body has just recovered a bit. Let me do this! I'm healthy, not sick! You've just barely saved your life. Are you planning to risk it again?"
"I... I'm fine... Your swimming skills are not as good as mine. I can't let you take the risk..." Martin shivered from the cold, even his teeth chattering.
In the past, with his good physical condition, even in the snowy winter, Martin could endure.
But now it was only autumn.
Martin couldn't bear it, shivering from the cold.
He felt the chill seeping into his bones.
Ryan, worried and distressed, said, "It's windy. Let's quickly get to shore, go to the car, take off your clothes, and turn on the heater!"
Martin shook his head. "No, I have to go up and see what's going on."
Upon hearing his words, Ryan was instantly furious. "What are you looking at? Patricia will be safe, and Sebastian and Kaleb are handling the matter there! What do you have to worry about? Listen to me. Go back to the car first! I'll go to the bridge and keep you updated on the situation."
But Martin insisted. "No... I have to..."
Ryan was almost exploding with anger. "Don't go! If you're really worried, we'll keep the phone line open; I'll turn on the speaker, and you can know the situation up there in real time. If you have anything to say, use the phone."
"But..." Martin still had some concerns.
Ryan didn't give him a chance to refuse. "No buts! You know how much Patricia cares about you. If something happens to you while trying to save her, she'll feel guilty! Right now, it's not just about saving Patricia. It's also about saving your own life! If something happens to you, Patricia won't be able to live with it."
Martin fell silent immediately, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded in agreement.
Ryan took Martin back to the car and turned on the heater for him. "I'll go up now. You quickly take off your clothes! The car windows are covered with privacy film, so no one will see."
Martin nodded and said, "Hurry up and go see how things are up there!"
"Okay!" Ryan nodded, leaving only after reminding, "If you feel uncomfortable in any way, tell me immediately! Don't tough it out."
Martin chuckled, "I got it, you go quickly!"
Seeing him agree, Ryan finally left.
On the bridge.
Sebastian saw Ryan coming over and worriedly asked, "How is Martin? Is he okay?"
Ryan said, "So far so good! We'll see later! It's only about ten degrees now; the river water is especially cold, and he's all wet, shivering from the cold. I told him to go to the car for the heater!"
Kaleb said, "I'll cook some hot soup for him tonight!"
Upon hearing this, Ryan finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you!"
After settling Martin, they got back to the main topic.
Sebastian asked Ryan, "What did you see when you were standing there just now?"
With his reminder, Ryan's memory returned; he grabbed the driver's collar and angrily said, "You bastard, why did you push Martin down?"
The ride-hailing driver said desperately, "No, I didn't! I just lightly touched his back; I didn't even use force!"
Ryan's handsome face twisted. "You're still trying to argue. I saw it with my own eyes!"
The ride-hailing driver was confused, anxious, and angry. He wanted to explain, but Ryan wouldn't believe him, no matter what.
"I really didn't; you can ask those two; they were watching! If you don't believe me, you can ask Martin to see if I pushed him."
"He fell down, and you say you didn't push him?"
The ride-hailing driver looked at Sebastian in a panic. "Could you please explain to me? I'm really innocent!"
Sebastian smirked. "Don't you understand yet?"
The ride-hailing driver didn't react for a moment. "Understand what?"
Sebastian said, "You didn't push my friend. Why does he think you did?"
The ride-hailing driver was stunned.
Yeah!
He didn't do anything. Why would this person think he pushed him?
Sebastian continued, "Also when you patted him the first time, did you push him again? What was the situation like?"
The ride-hailing driver unconsciously recalled the scene just now.
When he patted Martin the first time, he subconsciously turned his head!
And his pushing hand happened to be off.
Sebastian said, "Think about it: When someone pats your shoulder, isn't your first reaction to turn and look at that person? When Patricia patted Billy's shoulder, did he turn around?"
"No..." The ride-hailing driver answered almost without hesitation.
Sebastian asked, "Why are you so sure?"
The ride-hailing driver said confidently, "Because when Patricia pushed Billy off the bridge, the police asked me about Billy's appearance! I remember it clearly; he didn't turn around, and I didn't see his face."
Sebastian asked, "So, you never saw Billy's face from start to finish? You only saw his back?"
The ride-hailing driver nodded. "Yes!"
Sebastian asked, "Then how are you sure that person was Billy?"
The ride-hailing driver naturally said, "It was what Patricia said! She said that person was Billy, so everyone thought it was Billy."
Sebastian, Ryan, and Kaleb were all puzzled.
A vein popped on Sebastian's temple. "So, from start to finish, none of you have seen the true face of that person? Including Patricia?"
The ride-hailing driver suddenly fell silent.
It seemed... yes...
From start to finish, it was Patricia who claimed the person was Billy.
None of them had seen the person's face.
They were all following Patricia's lead.
