Chapter 713 Testing Hunter

The entire Koch family was under a heavy atmosphere.

Susan and Carol had completely stopped talking to Joe because of Hunter.

Their principle was that Joe must give Billy an explanation. If he insisted on favoring Hunter, they would continue to ignore him.

Joe was so worried that he didn't sleep all night.

He wished he could tear Hunter into pieces.

However, he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

Susan and Carol, on the other hand, blamed Joe.

Seeing Joe in such a state, Patricia couldn't bear it and asked, "Mr. Hill, what are you planning to do next?"

Joe held his face and said weakly, "I don't know! I can't kill my own son! But he killed Billy."

Patricia said, "Have you thought about acknowledging Hunter?"

Joe kept shaking his head. "I don't know,."

Hunter was ruthless and acted without any regard for family ties.

Maybe Hunter killed Billy just to take his place.

However, Joe only had one son, Billy.

Billy was dead.

Now Hunter suddenly appeared.

Suddenly having another son, any man would not acknowledge him.

Patricia advised, "Although my words may be harsh, I hope you think it through. Hunter is ruthless and has done countless bad things. My husband, Martin, almost died because of him. He also almost killed my child."

"Our enmity with him is irreconcilable."

"And, whether he is your biological son or not, he killed Billy and framed me! Just for that, he doesn't deserve forgiveness."

"If you forgive him and acknowledge him, you will regret it."

"He will use your power to do more heinous things."

"And, from what I know of him, he won't let me and Martin go!"

"So, even if you let him go, I will never let him go! I can't let his existence endanger me and my family."

Joe looked up at Patricia. "You..."

Patricia knew Joe would be angry but didn't rush, continuing, "I know you will protect him, but I don't want your relationship with my father to be affected because of him. He is not worth it!"

She deliberately emphasized her tone at the end. Joe didn't blame Patricia and rubbed his face hard.

Joe said, "I know. I don't want a son like him either! But..."

At this point, he couldn't continue.

Patricia said, "But, you still can't bear to, right?"

Although unwilling to admit it, Joe nodded in the end.

"Carol is also your daughter. She can also carry on the family line! Then you can just find a son-in-law to join your family."

Joe replied, "Is that possible?"

Patricia nodded. "Yes, remember, forgiving Hunter invites calamity, and the consequences are endless!"

Joe was very conflicted and didn't know what to choose. "I know, let me think about it."

"Alright, I'll leave you to think it over!" After saying that, Patricia didn't disturb Joe any longer and turned to leave.

Joe looked down at the ground in a daze, not knowing where to start unraveling.

After leaving Joe's room, Patricia went to the underground wine cellar.

Hunter's wounds had been treated, medicated, and bandaged.

He had also changed into a clean set of clothes.

The wine cellar was dark and damp.

After being untied, Hunter sat on the ground, leaning against a wine barrel, his head drooping weakly, eyes closed as if he were asleep.

Just by the sound of footsteps, Hunter knew it was Patricia.

Without opening his eyes, he mocked himself. "I thought you would never see me again in this lifetime."

Patricia stood in front of Hunter, seeing him in such a sorry state, felt no sympathy, only thinking he deserved it.

She said, "I didn't want to see you either!"

Hunter remained indifferent.

Patricia added, "If I could, I wish I had never met you! The thing I regret most in my life is reuniting with you after so many years! If we hadn't reunited, you would still be a good guy in my heart! Not the ruthless man you are now."

If she had never met Hunter, none of Patricia's tragedies would have happened.

Martin wouldn't have been injured and nearly died.  Declan wouldn't have been taken away by Charlotte.

The Hill family wouldn't have ended up like this.

These words finally elicited some reaction from Hunter.

Hunter slowly opened his eyes, looking at the woman he would sacrifice his life for, his eyes reddened, and he gave a self-mocking smile.

He said, "But I never regret meeting you! Even if you don't like me! Even if I lost everything because of you!"

If he hadn't met Patricia,  Hunter would still be the president of the Miller Group. Hunter's life would have been smooth sailing.

However, Hunter never regretted it.

Rather than living a muddled life in darkness, Hunter would rather always chase that beam of light.

Even if it meant being shattered to pieces, he wouldn't hesitate.

Patricia said expressionlessly, "No, you didn't lose everything because of me! Don't push the responsibility onto me!"

If Hunter hadn't used some underhanded tactics first, Martin wouldn't have gone against him.

In the end, it was Hunter's crooked nature that led to this.

It had nothing to do with Patricia.

Hunter and Patricia continued to argue over this issue, but since it had already happened, there was no point in pursuing it now.

Patricia squatted down to be at eye level with him, softening her tone to try to get information out of him.

"Hunter, why are you pretending to be Mr. Hill's son? I remember clearly, your father is Joshua Miller of the Miller Group."

Hunter was cunning, not only did he not answer, but he also asked Patricia, "Then why did your father, who was Gavin Watson, become Kaleb Taylor?"

Patricia was puzzled.

Hunter sneered. "You don't need to try to get information out of me. I won't tell you anything you want to know! If you want to kill me, go ahead! It would be a relief for me anyway, living is meaningless."

It really was meaningless.

His parents didn't care about him.

He finally met Patricia, but Patricia didn't love him either.

Living such a life was really exhausting.

In the next life, Hunter didn't want to be a human anymore.

It was pointless.

Patricia didn't know if Hunter really wanted to die or if he was just saying it.

Whether it was true or false, she had no interest in knowing.

"Are you really Mr. Hill's illegitimate son?" Patricia asked as she stared into Hunter's eyes, not missing any of his expressions.

Hunter mimicked her, staring back into her eyes. "What do you think?"

His gaze was sincere, not the least bit guilty.

Patricia was almost infuriated by him.

Every answer he gave was watertight, not revealing anything.
