Chapter 933 Violet is Back
Time just hit the pause button.
Stella clutched her face with one hand, looking up like she was about to cry, not able to watch the scene unfold.
Charles was stuck like a statue since he heard her call his name.
Hannah's eyes went wide as she saw Violet hugging Charles, totally forgetting to react.
Since Violet had her back to her, she couldn't see her face clearly.
All she knew was that Charles didn't shove Violet away right away.
Seconds dragged on like hours.
Less than a minute passed, but it felt like forever.
Charles was the first to snap out of it.
He turned around calmly, gently pulled Violet away, and stared at her face, checking her out from her hair to her eyebrows, then her eyes, and finally her mouth.
She really did look a lot like the Violet he remembered.
But she seemed more grown-up than the Violet he knew, her features more defined.
Today, she was rocking a pink jacket, a black skirt, and a pink hat. Her forehead was smooth, her hairline neat, and her long, curled lashes fanned out like a gentle shadow under her eyes.
Compared to seven years ago, she had lost some of her baby fat, but her face was still a bit chubby.
At this moment, Hannah also got a good look at her, her eyes widening even more, like they were about to pop out.
She looked about eighty percent like herself.
The only difference was that Violet was a bit prettier. Even though they looked so alike, she was just a bit prettier.
It was a vibe.
And she was about 2 inches taller than Violet.
If they stood together, anyone who didn't know them would definitely think they were sisters.
"You two?" Hannah finally found her voice, pointing back and forth between Charles and Violet.
Violet seemed to notice Hannah only then. Seeing her face, she widened her eyes in surprise and touched her own face, saying, "Why do you look so much like me?"
Hannah couldn't help but mimic her, touching her own face. "I don't know!"
She also wanted to know why they looked so alike.
"You..." Violet pointed at Hannah, wanting to say something.
Seeing that things were about to get awkward, Stella quickly jumped in with a smile, "Hannah, she's Charles's friend. Let's go and let them catch up."
Charles also said, "Hannah, you go with Stella to grab something to eat. I'll come find you later."
Even though he had nothing to hide, things were too messy, and he needed to sort out his thoughts.
Hannah wasn't about to leave easily.
It was obvious that Violet liked Charles.
If she left, the two of them would be alone together.
Even though she trusted Charles, she didn't trust Violet!
Violet seemed super innocent, not thinking much, and extended her hand to Hannah with a smile. "Hey, I'm Charles's girlfriend. My name is..."
Before she could finish, someone shouted from a distance, "Violet, why did you run so fast? Your mom and I couldn't keep up with you."
"Violet?" Hannah frowned.
Violet's eyes curved into a smile, and she affectionately took Hannah's hand. "Yep, my name is Violet. I'm Charles's girlfriend. Nice to meet you."
Hearing the word girlfriend, Hannah was stunned. "You're his girlfriend?"
So, who was Hannah to Charles?
Seeing her face darken, Charles quickly jumped in, "She's Carter's daughter. Carter and my dad are tight."
Hannah went quiet.
'So, they grew up together? But Charles never mentioned I look like Violet!' she thought.
Hannah felt like a ton of bricks was crushing her chest, making it hard to breathe.
Just then, Carter and Lassie caught up. Seeing Violet and Hannah, they were both stunned. "You two..."
After a moment, Carter found his voice, "Are you Hannah?"
He'd heard from Patricia that Hannah looked a lot like Violet.
At first, he didn't buy it, thinking Patricia was just exaggerating!
Now that he saw it, they really did look alike.
If he hadn't already found Violet, he would've mistaken her for Violet.
But over the years, he'd found many girls who looked like Violet, some even more so! But no matter how much they looked alike, they weren't Violet.
Violet lowered her head and said cautiously, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I won't do it again next time!"
Seeing her like this, Carter felt heartbroken and couldn't help but ruffle her hair. "Why are you apologizing! I'm your dad; you don't have to keep saying sorry to me."
Violet clearly didn't like his touch, instinctively stepping back to avoid his hand.
Carter's hand was left hanging in mid-air.
Charles noticed something was off and looked at Carter, silently asking what was going on.
Carter sighed deeply and said to Lassie, "Take Violet for a walk nearby! See if she's hungry and wants to hit the cafeteria."
His intention to get Violet away was obvious. But hearing that she was to be taken away, Violet got agitated and immediately ran over to hold Charles's arm, not wanting to leave. "I don't want to go! I want to stay with Charles."
Hannah watched them holding each other, feeling a bit upset. Whether out of spite or to give them some space to talk, she took Stella's arm and walked away, even though she didn't want to leave and wanted to stay and figure things out. "I think you might need some time to catch up, so Stella and I will leave first!"
'Why does Violet look so much like me? What's their deal?' Hannah thought.
From Violet's clingy behavior with Charles, it was clear they were more than just childhood buddies.
However, seeing Charles not pushing Violet away made her feel really uncomfortable.
Carter didn't even have time to say goodbye before she left, feeling a bit regretful for some reason.
"Hannah!" Charles knew she was mad and wanted to chase after her, but Violet held him back. "Charles, don't go."
She pressed her face tightly against Charles's arm, looking like she was really scared.
Charles couldn't break free, watching helplessly as Hannah disappeared from sight, unable to do anything.
He couldn't just rudely push Violet away.
He looked at Carter, frowning. "Carter, what is going on?"
Carter's face was full of worry.
Even Lassie beside him looked troubled and worried.
Charles immediately knew that things were not simple.
