Chapter 983 Standing Up for Hannah
Stella was bored out of her mind at home, so she decided to tag along with Hannah at work. They had plans to grab dinner after Hannah's shift.
When she got to the fried chicken joint, she noticed a crowd huddled around the counter, all eyes glued to something.
Her curiosity piqued.
Stella loved a good drama, so she elbowed her way through the crowd to get a better look.
"What's everyone gawking at? What's happening?" she asked, nosing around as she pushed forward.
Someone in the crowd answered, "They're giving a homewrecker a beatdown! One of the employees here messed with someone's man, and now she's getting what she deserves."
"A homewrecker?" Stella's eyes practically sparkled.
She'd only ever seen this kind of thing in videos. Seeing it live was a whole new level of excitement!
"People these days, no morals at all. With so many guys out there, why go after someone else's?" Stella said, craning her neck to see the person on the ground.
From her angle, she couldn't make out the face.
But then she noticed the pants the person was wearing, and her heart skipped a beat.
Hannah had a pair just like those.
A bad feeling washed over her, and before she could confirm her suspicion, she heard a familiar voice. "I told you not to mess with Charles. You deserve this. Everything happening today is your own fault."
Charles?
The voice and the name made Stella's blood run cold.
Without thinking, she rushed over and shoved Violet, who was on top of Hannah, away. Seeing Hannah's disheveled state, her eyes filled with rage and tears.
She tried to push away the people holding Hannah down, but there were too many of them, and she wasn't strong enough.
"Are you friends with this homewrecker?" someone sneered.
Stella didn't care. Seeing she couldn't push them away, she ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife.
"Let her go right now, or I'll cut you," Stella shouted.
Everyone exchanged uneasy glances, unsure if she was serious or just bluffing.
Violet got up from the ground. "Don't believe her. She won't really do it. She's friends with this homewrecker. They're both homewreckers."
"Another homewrecker? Birds of a feather, huh? No wonder she's defending her."
"She's just trying to scare us with that knife. If you have the guts, go ahead and cut us! Bluffing."
"Ignore her. Let's strip this homewrecker and throw her out so everyone can see her true colors."
Stella was shaking with rage.
Thinking about the humiliation Hannah had suffered, she lost all reason and swung the knife at Violet.
Violet didn't expect her to actually swing. She stepped back, tripped over something, and couldn't dodge in time. She watched in horror as the knife came down, instinctively raising her arm to block.
The knife cut into Violet's arm, and blood gushed out. A searing pain shot through her arm.
Violet cursed, "You bitch, how dare you hurt me?"
Stella ignored her, holding the bloody knife menacingly. "Let her go, or I'll show you no mercy."
Bright red blood dripped from the sharp blade.
Everyone was freaked out by her craziness and backed off, not wanting to get hurt.
Stella quickly crouched down and helped Hannah up from the floor.
Seeing Hannah's swollen, unrecognizable face, Stella's heart broke, and tears streamed down her cheeks. She wanted to wipe Hannah's face but was scared of hurting her more, not knowing where to touch.
"Damn you, Violet. How could you do this to her? Damn it. Why didn't I come sooner? If I hadn't shown up, who knows how much worse it would've been," Stella muttered, her voice shaking with anger.
Hannah didn't respond at all.
"Hannah, what's wrong? Say something," Stella said anxiously.
Seeing no reaction from Hannah, Stella's tears kept falling. She shakily pulled out her phone to call Charles.
Violet saw what she was doing and grabbed her wrist. "What are you trying to do?"
Without a word, Stella swung the knife at her again.
Violet, terrified, stumbled back and fell to the ground.
Stella didn't waste any more time on her and dialed Charles' number.
But no one answered.
Charles didn't pick up, so she kept calling.
Seeing that she couldn't get through, Violet smugly got up, dusted off her clothes, and said, "There's no point in calling Charles. He knows I'm here today, so he won't answer your call."
Stella didn't believe her for a second and snapped back, "You're lying. Charles loves Hannah. He wouldn't let you hurt her. I can't believe you're this kind of person. Charles must have been blind to like you. You bitch! Even if Charles doesn't do anything to you out of guilt, I won't let you off. In this entire country, no one dares to mess with the Reed family. If I don't make you pay, I'll eat my hat."
Stella hung up the phone, hugged the dazed Hannah. Seeing her disheveled state, Stella immediately took off her own jacket to cover Hannah and helped her up.
Stella glared at everyone around, finally focusing on the other employees hiding in the crowd. Their expressions and looks deeply hurt her.
Stella thought, 'These are the people who just ganged up on Hannah. I remember them all. None of those who bullied Hannah will get away. I'll make them pay.'
"Just wait. I won't let this go. I won't let any of you who bullied Hannah off," Stella said, her voice cold and determined.
With that, she tried to take Hannah away.
"You can't take her," Violet said, not willing to let Hannah go.
Violet thought, 'I haven't stripped Hannah, thrown her out, or ruined her face yet! I can't let Hannah leave.'
Just as she reached out to grab Stella, Stella's phone rang.
It was Charles calling.
Seeing his name on the screen, Stella's eyes turned red.
At this moment, she truly hated herself for introducing Hannah to Charles.
If she had known Violet was this kind of person, she would never have let Hannah get involved with Charles.
Stella angrily answered the call.
Charles' cheerful voice came from the other end, "What do you need?"
Hearing his voice, Stella felt both angry and hurt, her voice tinged with tears, "Come to where Hannah works right now, or you'll never see her again."
With that, she hung up the phone.
Sensing something was wrong, someone tried to sneak away.
Stella dragged Hannah to the door, closed the glass door, and brandished the knife, warning, "I dare anyone to leave. Anyone who bullied Hannah won't get away. I'll make each and every one of you pay."
