Chapter 769 A Warm Atmosphere
Fannie noticed something and exclaimed, "Charles, she really likes you! Look at her eyes, they're following you everywhere."
Carter, feeling jealous, snapped, "She's only been here a day. You're imagining things."
Fannie pouted, "I'm not! Watch this!"
She pulled Charles to one side, and Violet's eyes followed. Then she pulled him to the other side, and Violet's eyes followed again.
Carter was confused.
Patricia grinned, "Fannie's right, she really is always looking at Charles! Maybe she already likes him."
Charles, feeling shy, rolled his eyes, "What are you talking about? Do you even look like a mom right now?"
Patricia, unfazed, said proudly, "Why not? Didn't Carter always want to marry one of our kids? If Violet likes you so much, you might as well marry her and make her my daughter-in-law!"
Charles blushed even more, "I can't deal with you!"
Seeing Violet's preference for Charles, Carter got jealous and turned Violet around in his arms, "My daughter is mine. No one else can have her."
Patricia, speechless, said, "You're worse than Martin! He loves his daughter but doesn't guard her like you do."
Carter, feeling justified, replied, "Of course! He has five kids, I only have one! It's different!"
Patricia was momentarily speechless.
Unfortunately for Carter, Violet started crying again when she couldn't see Charles. The tears flowed as if she was deeply wronged.
Carter was puzzled.
Patricia, exasperated, said, "See? It's not that others want to take your daughter, it's that Violet doesn't want you."
Carter was very upset.
Patricia took Violet from his arms and signaled Charles to come over with her eyes.
Charles was reluctant.
Fannie pushed him over, smiling at Violet, "Violet, look, I brought him over!"
Violet sensed something and looked towards Charles. The moment she saw him, she stopped crying and waved her hands, trying to grab him.
Patricia said to Charles, "Touch her hand."
Charles tentatively reached out, and Violet immediately grasped his hand. The soft touch and warmth melted his stiff expression, and he couldn't help but smile.
"She's so cute!" Patricia said, "Isn't she? Sit on the sofa and try holding her!"
Charles pointed to himself, "Me, hold her?"
Patricia reassured him, "It's okay! She likes you so much, she won't fuss."
Looking at Violet's little face, Charles's heart softened.
He sat on the sofa, and when Patricia placed Violet in his arms, he held her tightly, afraid she might fall.
Violet was well-behaved, not crying or fussing, just smiling at him. Her eyes sparkled like stars.
Charles couldn't help but kiss her little face, and Violet let out a bell-like laugh.
Carter stood to the side, feeling resentful and extremely jealous.
Why was Fannie so close to Carter? And why did Violet, just born, like Charles? Was it because Carter wasn't as good-looking as Charles? Definitely not! It was just that Violet had poor taste and liked Charles.
The atmosphere in the room was warm and relaxed. Martin sat down with Carter to chat. A maid was washing Violet's clothes in the bathroom.
Suddenly, Violet's smiling face turned red, and she looked very uncomfortable.
