Chapter 1173 Arriving at the Destination

Hannah stared out the window at the unfamiliar scenery and couldn't help but ask, "Where exactly are we going? How much longer is this trip? Can we stop and get some fresh air? I can't sit in this car any longer."

The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror but didn't respond.

Frustrated, Hannah ran her fingers through her hair. "At least let me get out and stretch my legs! I've been stuck in this car for over ten days!"

The driver continued to ignore her, not even sparing her a glance.

Hannah was baffled.

Austin noticed the irritation on her face and, after a moment of thought, sighed inwardly. He couldn't bear it any longer and asked the driver, "How much longer do we have?"

This time, the driver finally spoke, uttering his first words of the day. "About another week."

Hannah felt like she was about to lose it. "You mean I have to stay cooped up in this car for another seven days? My brother's exams are coming up, and there's less than a month left."

The driver remained silent in the face of her complaints.

Hannah's anger erupted uncontrollably. "Hey, I ask you something, and you don't respond. He asks, and you answer! What's the deal? Are you discriminating against me?"

The driver still didn't respond.

No matter how angry, upset, or how much she cursed, he remained indifferent and unresponsive.

Hannah was at her wits' end.

Austin rubbed his forehead in exasperation. Seeing the desolate landscape around them, he thought for a moment and then said, "Let's pull over for a bit. We need to stretch our legs and get some fresh air."

With his command, the driver finally pulled over to the side of the road.

Hannah was so furious she almost choked.

Austin opened the car door first and then extended his hand to Hannah. "Let me help you out. There's a pond nearby; you can sit by it and get some fresh air. If you want, I can push you around for a bit."

Hannah glared at him but reluctantly placed her hand in his, using his support to climb out of the car.

As soon as she stepped out of the van, Hannah closed her eyes and took a deep, greedy breath.

The air outside was truly refreshing.

Her mood instantly improved.

Austin brought the wheelchair over to her. "You shouldn't stand for too long. It's better if you sit in the wheelchair."

Hannah shook her head. "No, I need to stretch my muscles! The doctor said I should rest for a month, and it's been about that long. I can start moving around a bit. If I stay in that wheelchair any longer, I'll go crazy."

Austin hadn't seen her smile in a long time.

Since their last meeting, she hadn't shown him a single friendly expression.

Today, he finally saw her smile again.

Hannah glanced into the distance.

She noticed someone fishing by the pond and excitedly walked over, like a curious child, looking around and even striking up a conversation with the fisherman. "How many have you caught?"

The man saw she wasn't a local and responded kindly, lifting the lid of his bucket. "Not many, just five or six."

"Wow, that's impressive! You've caught so many!" Hannah sat on a nearby rock and continued to ask, "Do you catch this many every day? Can you eat them all?"

The man chuckled. "We fish not for eating, but just for the hobby."

Hannah curled her legs up, hugging her knees and resting her chin on them. "Is fishing fun?"

"Yeah, it's fun! Do you want to try?"

Hannah's eyes lit up instantly. "Can I?"

The man smiled and nodded. "Sure! I have a spare rod. If you're interested, I can set it up for you."

Hannah nodded eagerly. "Yes, please! I'm so bored!"

The man planted his rod in the ground and began preparing a rod for Hannah, teaching her how to cast the line, recognize when a fish bites, and how to reel it in.

Austin stood silently behind them, watching Hannah learn to fish with the enthusiasm of a child.

His gaze was so intense that the man couldn't help but glance back and ask Hannah, "Is that man your boyfriend?"

Hannah shook her head, denying it without further explanation. "No."

The man was curious. "You guys are from abroad, right? Which country? Country Z or Country H?"

Hannah casually replied, "Country Z."

As the man taught Hannah to fish, he chatted with her. "Country Z, huh? What brings you all the way out here to such a remote place?"

Austin's brows furrowed, worried the man might accidentally reveal their location to Hannah. He was about to intervene when Hannah responded nonchalantly, "Just traveling! You have to explore everywhere when you're on a trip."

Her answer made Austin breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed his worries were unfounded.

With Oliver in their hands, Hannah hadn't even considered escaping.

The man nodded repeatedly. "That's true! When you're traveling, you should see everything. It's the best way to live."

"Yeah, exactly!" Hannah chatted with the man while fishing. Surprisingly, she had good luck on her first try, catching three or four fish. Though they were small, it was enough to make Hannah happy.

Just as she was enjoying herself, the driver came to urge them back on the road.

Hannah glared at him and handed the fish she caught to the man before preparing to leave.

The man called out to her, puzzled. "Fish you catch yourself taste different from store-bought ones! Aren't you going to take them back to try?"

Hannah shrugged helplessly. "No, we didn't bring any cooking tools on this trip. You can have them."

"Alright then!" The man waved goodbye. "Come back and fish again sometime."

"Sure thing!" Hannah cheerfully agreed and climbed back into the van.

The van hit the road again.

After getting some fresh air, Hannah felt much better and didn't feel as stifled.

She closed her eyes, stretched her legs out on the seat, leaned against the car door, and fell asleep.

Austin and his accomplices were indeed very cautious. They were afraid she might escape or that Charles might find them, so they took a very convoluted and remote route. Their current location probably wasn't even on the map. Looking around, there wasn't a soul in sight.

Hannah was curious about how they found so many remote places. Was it really worth it to confine themselves to such desolate areas for her sake?

After another week of traveling, they finally reached their destination.
